yasin english arabic: The Anchor Book of Modern Arabic Fiction Denys Johnson-Davies, 2006-10-17 This dazzling anthology features the work of seventy-nine outstanding writers from all over the Arab-speaking world, from Morocco in the west to Iraq in the east, Syria in the north to Sudan in the south. Edited by Denys Johnson-Davies, called by Edward Said “the leading Arabic-to-English translator of our time,” this treasury of Arab voices is diverse in styles and concerns, but united by a common language. It spans the full history of modern Arabic literature, from its roots in western cultural influence at the end of the nineteenth century to the present-day flowering of Naguib Mahfouz’s literary sons and daughters. Among the Egyptian writers who laid the foundation for the Arabic literary renaissance are the great Tawfik al-Hakim; the short story pioneer Mahmoud Teymour; and Yusuf Idris, who embraced Egypt’s vibrant spoken vernacular. An excerpt from the Sudanese writer Tayeb Salih’s novel Season of Migration to the North, one of the Arab world’s finest, appears alongside the Libyan writer Ibrahim al-Koni’s tales of the Tuaregs of North Africa, the Iraqi writer Mohamed Khudayir’s masterly story “Clocks Like Horses,” and the work of such women writers as Lebanon’s Hanan al-Shaykh and Morocco’s Leila Abouzeid.

yasin english arabic: The Four Light - Suarh Al-mulk Surah As-sajdah Surah Ar-rahman Surah Al-waqi'ah Authenticate Ulama's Organization, 2016-10-04 The Qur'an should be recited daily so that in short spaces of time entire recitations are completed. This is something that many are punctual with in Ramadan, however, it is not something that is exclusive to that month. It's blessings transcend to every instance in our lives. To facilitate this, a table has been included at the end of this book which we can use to encourage and remind ourselves of this manner of pleasing Allah Ta'ala. Either we can tick a day when we reach a specific goal of verses/pages each day, or we can insert a number (to represent verses/pages) if our daily timetables are unpredictable or inconstant. In this manner we can still try to read a fixed number of pages per day One should try to aim for a Juz (Parah) a day. If one is trying to create a habit and this is too much, start smaller, e.g. a few pages. With the gradual build up of speed and comfort in reading, one will be able to set this or even higher goals. One should also try and read the Qur'an with a reputable translation at hand so one can reflect upon the meaning of what is recited. This is why the translation has also been included in this publication (and also our other Publications). With this addition we hope that our recitation of the Qur'an will rise above a repetition of unknown words, and progress to giving audience to the Words of Allah Ta'ala, and taking the commands and advices of Allah Ta'ala to heart. The chapters of the Qur'an presented in this book are those which should be recited daily. If one is not able to recite so much comfortably, then one should start with one or even part of one of these Surahs daily. The specific benefits for reciting each of these chapters are mentioned under their separate headings.

yasin english arabic: Surah Yasin - the Heart of the Qura'n Jamiatul Ulama Talimi Board Kzn, 2015-12 Surah Yasin was revealed in Makkah with eighty-three verses arranged into five sections. Surah Yasin begins with affirming of Muhammad's [PBUH] prophethood by invoking the Qur'an, the book of wisdom and assuring him that he is on the right guidance. Then it proceeds to describe the fate of the inhabitants of a certain settlement; they repudiated the prophets sent to them and invitedAllah's wrath on themselves which wiped them off the face of earth. This account of the attitude of the people of the settlement makes a very significant point; the truth which the high, proud and sophisticated people of the city failed to see was recognized by a simple, lowly man from the suburbs. After narrating the story of the settlement the surah once again calls upon people to observe and ponder over the vast and varied phenomena of nature - from the stars and planets to the richproductivity of earth - and decide who else but the supreme being who created and subjected the entire universe to an ordered, integrated system is worthy of worship. The surah also declares that the prophet is not a poet and that what he preaches is the Message of Allah I whose knowledge has no bounds, and not imaginary tales, exaggerated descriptions and false assertions (which are the stock-in-trade of decadent poets). All praise is due to Allah Ta'ala, The Supreme Master of all the worlds. Countless Durood and Salaam be upon our beloved Nabi, Sayyidina Muhammad( PBUH ).

yasin english arabic: Islamist Politics in the Middle East Samer Said Shehata, 2012 For over three decades, Islamist politics, or political Islam, has been one of the most dynamic and contentious political forces in the Middle East. Although there is broad consensus on the importance of political Islam, there is far less agreement on its character, the reasons for Islamist's success, the role of Islamist movements in domestic and international affairs, or what these movements portend for the future. This volume addresses a number of central questions in the study of Islamist politics in the Middle East through detailed case studies of some of the region's most important Islamist movements. Chapters by leading scholars in the field examine the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hizbullah, Morocco's Justice and Benevolence, the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood, the Sunni Insurgency in Iraq and Islamist politics in Turkey and Iran. The topics addressed within this volume include social networks and social welfare provision, Islamist groups as opposition actors, Islamist electoral participation, the intersection of Islam and national liberation struggles, the role of religion in Islamist politics, and Islam and state politics in Iran, among other topics. All of the contributing authors are specialists with deep knowledge of the subject matter who are committed to empirically based research. These scholars take Islamists seriously as modern, sophisticated, and strategic political players. Together, their work captures much of the diversity of Islamist politics in the region and will contribute to the scholarship on a topic that continues to be important for the Middle East and the world.

yasin english arabic: Modern Arabic Clive Holes, 2004 The revised and updated edition of Modern Arabic takes this authoritative, concise linguistic description of the structure and use of modern Arabic to an invaluable new level. Clive Holes traces the development of the Arabic language from Classical Arabic, the written language used in the 7th century for the Qur'an and poetry, through the increasingly symbiotic use of Modern Standard Arabic or MSA (the language of writing and formal speech) and dialectal Arabic (the language of normal conversation). He shows how Arabic has been shaped over the centuries by migration, urbanization, and education--giving us a balanced, dispassionate, and accurate picture of the structures, functions, and varieties of the contemporary Arabic language. Holes explains the structural characteristics--phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and lexical and stylistic developments--that the majority of the dialects share, as distinguished from Modern Standard Arabic. He also shows how native speakers use both types of Arabic for different purposes, with MSA being the language of power and control as used on television and in political speeches, and the dialects serving as the language of intimacy and domesticity. He further shows how MSA and spoken dialects are not as compartmentalized as one might be led to believe. Modern Arabic illustrates the use of the Arabic language in real life, whether in conversation, news bulletins and newspaper articles, serious literature, or song. This new edition takes into account research published in several areas of Arabic linguistics since the first edition was published in 1995. It includes more extensive comment on the North African Arabic vocabulary of Modern Standard Arabic, more information about mixed varieties of written Arabic that are not in MSA (especially in Egypt), updated references, explanations, and many new examples. All Arabic is transcribed, except for an appendix presenting the Arabic alphabet and script. Students of the Arabic language will find Modern Arabic without peer--as will those general linguists who are interested in discovering how Arabic compares structurally and sociolinguistically with European languages.
