The 3rd International Conference of Education and Science (ICES) Universitas Kristen Indonesia will be an annual event hosted by Education and Teacher Training Faculty, Universitas Kristen Indonesia. This year (2021), will be the third ICES UKI will be held on 17-18 November 2021 at Education and Teacher Training Faculty, Universitas Kristen Indonesia, Indonesia. This conference has brought researchers, developers and practitioners around the world. The theme of ICES 2021 was “Research and Education Sustainability Post COVID-19 in Asian Context” . The 3rd International Conference of Education and Science (ICES) 2021 consisted of 46 full papers. The conference tracks were teaching and learning, education technology, educational psychology, and christian education. “Research and Education Sustainability Post COVID-19 in Asian Context” has been chosen at the main theme for the conference. Science and education underlie all human life, especially in the face of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, which is clearly stated in RIRN. Thus, science and education will become a special field of study in the 3rd ICES 2021. Through this activity, it is expected to increase the number of international publications by Indonesian academics in the fields of natural science, social science, and education. The conference invites delegates from across Indonesian and Asian region and beyond, and is usually attended by more than 1000 participants from university academics, researchers, practitioners, and professionals across a wide range of industries. The education sector during the Covid-19 Pandemic is currently undergoing a total reformation. The education process at schools and colleges which was carried out face-to-face has now turned into virtual face-to-face learning utilizing various platforms. Also, the Covid-19 Pandemic has impacted the research and development process in the field which must be delayed due to the risk of Covid-19 transmission. In regard to this, the educational process does not run optimally. In fact, education is the process of developing the future generation of a country that are supposed to supported by all parties while looking for solutions to the problems at hand. As part of social sciences, the objects of historical study include humans who are bound by the dimensions of space and time. This confirms that history is part of science that is tied to human life. Therefore, various policies taken by the government must also be reviewed from the past historical experience with adjustments to the conditions of the era. Moreover, historical experience will provide an idea that humans are always innovating to solve the problems they face, especially policies related to education and learning.Based on those problems, History Education Study Program of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta will hold an international conference on Future Teaching and Learning: A Disruptive Innovation. The aim of the conference is providing a forum for exchanging information and finding solutions to learning and teaching problems in the current era of disruption, considering that the Covid-19 Pandemic has changed everything. Arif, Firdaus Anas, 2019-10-17 As an annual event, 1st Bukittinggi International Conference on Education (BICED) 2019 continued the agenda to bring together researcher, academics, experts and professionals in examining selected theme by applying multidisciplinary approaches. In 2019, IAIN Bukittinggi successfully held this event for the first time in 17-18 October at Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Bukittinggi, West Sumatera, Indonesia. There were 64 papers presented during 2 days at the conference from any kind of stakeholders related with Education, Information Technology, and Mathemathics. Each contributed paper was refereed before being accepted for publication. The double-blind peer reviewed was used in the paper selection. From all papers submitted, there were 38 papers were accepted successfully for publication based on their area of interest, relevance, research by applying multidisciplinary.

  uny staff: Perception of English Anita Dewi, 2015-01-12 There has been a significant increase in the number of English speakers globally, with the majority of them being non-native speakers who rely on diverse varieties of the language. Throughout its history, English has been disseminated through a number of processes, ranging from colonialism to globalisation. This has ultimately resulted in the formation of various relationships between English and target communities. English has also spread to countries where Muslims constitute the majority of the population. As religious teachings are embedded in local or national cultures, and thus result in non-homogeneous Islamic communities across the globe, it is a frequently used oversimplification to conclude that English consistently stands in opposition to Islam in every Islamic society. Given such misperceptions, studies directed towards perceptions of English in Indonesia, the fourth most populated country and the largest Muslim community in the world, are particularly important. This book examines a variety of perceptions of English in this context, focusing on staff and students at universities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Five research questions were used as the basis for conducting this study, which analyse the themes of English and its acceptance in Indonesia; English at the tertiary level; the roles of English; English in relation to identity; and the perception of World Englishes. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study was carried out at nine public and private universities with differing religious viewpoints – namely, secular, Catholic, and Islamic. There are five different groups of participants for individual interviews and questionnaire surveys: students, English language lecturers, non-English lecturers, and leaders at each of the nine universities. The results reveal that English is viewed as a tool and asset for advancing knowledge, facilitating international communication, gaining global competitiveness, and improving employment opportunities. However, perceived tensions between English and Indonesian constantly occur throughout all facets of the study. Even though Indonesian people’s “repository of cultural identity” (Tan and Rubdy, 2008, p. 5) is located within local languages rather than in Indonesian as the national language, the Indonesian language actually unites them as one people and differentiates them from people of other nations. This suggests a demand for a “contemporary global linguistic ecology” (Phillipson and Skutnabb-Kangas, 1999, p. 20). In such ecology, English would keep developing in a way that does not impact negatively on the national language. Indeed, such demand for a balance between English and Indonesian is politically desirable.

Both of conferences were organized respectively by Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Research Institute, Universitas Negeri Medan. The papers from these conferences collected in a proceedings book entitled: Proceedings of 5th AISTSSE. In publishing process, AISTSSE and ICIESC were collaboration conference presents six plenary and invited speakers from Australia, Japan, Thailand, and from Indonesia. Besides speaker, around 162 researchers covering lecturers, teachers, participants and students have attended in this conference. The researchers come from Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Palembang, Jambi, Batam, Pekanbaru, Padang, Aceh, Medan and several from Malaysia, and Thailand. The AISTSSE meeting is expected to yield fruitful result from discussion on various issues dealing with challenges we face in this Industrial Revolution (RI) 4.0. The purpose of AISTSSE is to bring together professionals, academics and students who are interested in the advancement of research and practical applications of innovation in education, science and culture. The presentation of such conference covering multi disciplines will contribute a lot of inspiring inputs and new knowledge on current trending about: Mathematical Sciences, Mathematics Education, Physical Sciences, Physics Education, Biological Sciences, Biology Education, Chemical Sciences, Chemistry Education, and Computer Sciences. Thus, this will contribute to the next young generation researches to produce innovative research findings. Hopely that the scientific attitude and skills through research will promote Unimed to be a well-known university which persist to be developed and excelled.   uny staff: Back to Basics: A Study of the Second Lebanon War and Operation CAST LEAD Scott C. Farquhar, 2011 This work studies the combat actions in two operations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The writing team focused on the transformation of the IDF before and after the Second Lebanon War of 2006 and in preparation for Operation CAST LEAD in the winter of 2008-09. In Lebanon, the IDF pitted ill-trained soldiers and ill-educated officers, who attempted to carry out vague orders and unfamiliar tasks, against men with good weapons and a simple mission. This was the first open conflict in Israel's cold war with Iran and its proxy force of Hezbollah in what became known as the Second Lebanon War. The IDF Operation CAST LEAD against Hamas in 2008-09 was a small-scale affair in comparison to the multi-division attack into Lebanon in 2006. The former operation, however, restored confidence in both the government and armed forces in the eyes of the Israeli populace.
