thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Daniel Pure and Simple Keneth Cox, 2013-11-11 The books of Daniel and Revelation are companions. The prophecies given in Daniel are revealed further in Revelation, and fit together like a hand in a glove. As you understand the dreams and visions given to Daniel, you will find that John repeats the same prophecies and enlarges upon their meaning in Revelation. The book of Daniel is the first step in understanding Revelation. God gave these visions for guidance to His people, particularly in the closing events of time. He did not clothe them in mystery so they could not be understood, but by simply following Biblical principles, Daniel becomes Pure and Simple. It's written in an easy reading format, and as you progress through the book, the stories and prophecies will open up to give you understanding of God's love and His will for your life. The promise is given in Daniel 12:10 and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. KENNETH COX

thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Angry Saints George R. Knight, 1989 Angry Saints is about the people and struggles that existed 100 years ago--and about how the lessons of the past apply to the present. Even though the specific characters and surface issues have changed, most of the problems, opportunities, dynamics, personality traits, and bedrock controversies portrayed in Angry Saints are remarkable contemporary. The book's four central crises provide perspectives that speak to Adventism a century later with as much force as they should have spoken to our spiritual forebears. Perhaps learning the lessons of Minneapolisis even more important today than it was in 1888, since learning and applying that learning seems to be the key to our future. The book concludes on a positive note--the infinite possibilities of God's saving grace. Those possibilities, not fully grasped as yet, hold the promises of the future. - A Word To The Reader. A Contex For Crisis. Crisis In Understanding. Crisis In Personality. Crisis In Spirit. Crisis In Authority. The Continuing Crisis. The Continuing Possibility. Another Word To The Reader. Index

thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Miracles in My Life John Norton Loughborough, 2014 In 1853, at twenty-one years of age, John N. Loughborough began working with James and Ellen White preaching the gospel of Christ and sharing the three angels' messages with all who would listen. From that time until his death in 1924, Loughborough was a faithful witness and dedicated minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. During his ministry, Loughborough experienced many trials and miracles. From battling blizzards in the Midwest to being threatened by a knife-wielding man in California, he relied on God for protection as he preached to overflow crowds and converted hundreds of people. Miracles in My Life is a first-person account of the providential and faith-building experiences Loughborough had while working as an evangelist and traveling with James and Ellen White. The unique stories he shares will inspire confidence in the gift of prophecy and God's leading in the early Advent movement and in the life of His servants.

thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Daniel 11 Decoded Jacques Doukhan, 2019 Daniel 11 is one of the most difficult texts of the Bible. The history of interpretation reflects this difficulty, as it offers to the biblical student the confused picture of diverse and often contradictory interpretations. The difficulty has to do with the coded nature of the chapter, a characteristic feature that has been well recognized. As such, this text uses a symbolic language that should be elucidated, and contains allusions to other passages of Daniel or other biblical texts that need to be traced and established. This chapter deserves all the more the utmost attention of the biblical student because it is a key text for the understanding of the whole book. Indeed Daniel 11, the longest prophecy of the book of Daniel, radiates everywhere in the book, and illuminates its message--

thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Loma Linda Messages Ellen G. White, 2004 This 1935 collection of Ellen G. White's admonitions is reprinted in the hope of arousing God's people to follow the divine blueprint of the medical work. The content of this book is briefly summarized in these two statements: Loma Linda is to be not only a sanitarium, but an educational center. With the possession of this place comes the mighty responsibility of making the work of the institution educational in character. The school that is to be established at Loma Linda is to stand in the freedom of the truth. Shall we represent before the world that our physicians must follow the pattern of the world, before they can be qualified to be successful physicians? This is the question that is now testing the faith of some of our brethren. Let not any of our brethren displease the Lord by advocating in their assemblies the idea that we need to obtain from unbelievers a higher education that that specified by the Lord.
thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Testimonies for the Church Volume 1 Ellen G. White, 2022-03-21 This is the first volume of a 9-book series by Ellen G. White entitled Testimonies for the Church which was started as instruction and guidance to the Seventh-day Adventist Church during its infancy (during the late 1840's and early 1850's). During that time, there were only four ministers serving the entire denomination. The ministers, who supported themselves through physical labor, were poor in this world's goods but rich in the gospel. By 1855, membership in the fledgling denomination had grown from less than a hundred to more than a thousand. During those years of growth, opposition by a group called the Messenger Party brought much sorrow and perplexity to the believers. Fanatical movements also divided and distracted from time to time. Discouraged by the fact that Jesus had not come in 1844, the church was in danger of losing its first love. With the Gold Rush and westward movement, those years were also a time of speculation in homesteads and land. As a result, these testimonies contain more than a few earnest warnings about the dangers of conformity to the world. Calls to deeper consecration on the part of church members were also frequent. In late 1856, Advent believers began to recognize themselves as lukewarm and in need of heeding the counsel of the True Witness witness of Revelation 3. Mightily stirred by this message, the believers expected the loud cry of the third angel to take place very soon. The earnest messages of Testimonies Volume One can be better understood with this background in mind. The times of this volume were also filled with discussion and debate. Adventist ministers, including one prominent one named Moses Hull, were often challenged to debate about the Sabbath or even with Spiritualists. Moses Hull's ill-advised debates with spiritualists, which led to his ultimate spiritual demise, were addressed in some of the counsels included in Volume One. During the times of this volume, steps were also being taken to organize the Seventh-day Adventist Church. There was much discussion about the idea of organization, as opponents of the move argued that the idea of organization itself came straight from Babylon. Also notable during this period was the introduction of health reform in 1863. After Ellen White received a vision that emphasized the relationship between the laws of health and spiritual development, she began to admonish the members on this topic. Reforms in dress were also closely related to the health reform movement. Additional counsel led the members to establish the Health Reform Institute. During the American Civil War, guidance was also needed-and provided-about the proper relationship between the church and civil government. Other notable topics covered during those formative years (and included in Testimonies for the Church Volume One) included the importance of the home in the building of Christian character, the responsibility of parents, and admonitions for the youth. Counsel and admonition for the church body was also included. All in all, the counsels in Volume One spanned a very important phase in the development of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and were very influential in its development.

thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: The Great Second Advent Movement John Norton Loughborough, 1909 There are already many useful books in the hands of the people, and my apology for adding another to the list, is that in these pages I state many things concerning Adventist, and especially Seventh-day Adventist, which have not heretofore been brought in this form before the people. Besides this, many who espoused the cause in later years, and who have not witnessed the things mentioned, have earnestly requested a narration of these facts and experiences from those earlier in the work. Having been familiar with the advent movement in 1843 and 1844, and having, since Jane. 2, 1849 proclaimed the doctrine, first as an Adventist, I esteem it a pleasure to speak the things i have seen and heard.--Chapter I-- Introductory.   thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Studies in Christian Education E. A. Sutherland, 2016-07-15 The Students' Volunteer Band, studying fields of missionary activity in the Nashville Agricultural and Normal Institute, had the privilege of attending a series of studies given by Dr. E. A. Sutherland, president of the institution, revealing the fact that the great Protestant denominations failed to give the first angel's message in its fullness because they did not free themselves from the papal system of education. Clinging to this system in the end brought them into confusion. The Seventh-day Adventist denomination came into existence because of this failure, and it must succeed where the others failed. Their birthright as a denomination is a great reform movement, the greatest the world has ever known. The Lord has been telling our people that, as individuals, we are in a positive danger of suffering the same defeat as they suffered, because we still cling to worldly methods of education. They failed to give the midnight cry because of their wrong system of education. We are soon to enter the period of the latter rain. We trust the following pages may be earnestly and prayerfully read.

thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Divine Pattern Adrian Ebens, 2012-01-26 The Divine pattern touches every aspect of our lives and holds the key to joy, peace and harmony within our marriages, communities, churches and all social structures within our world. In the relationship between God and His Son, we behold the key to this divine pattern. The more and more we behold them, love them and pattern our lives after them, the more receptive we become to their channel of blessing in our lives. Before this world began, Satan and his angels moved to obscure the divine pattern and replace it with a counterfeit that would break the circuit of God's boundless love and bring untold misery to the world. Uncover this deceptive counterfeit and see, in the great original divine pattern the key for returning our church to the worship of God and His Son.
thoughts on daniel and revelation by uriah smith: Heartwarming Stories of Adventist Pioneers Norma J. Collins, 2005 Perhaps you've heard the stories of the Adventist pioneers. However these are the stories that are not often told. The stories that bring out the human nature of each one. Heartwarming stories will give you a different perspective. You'll get to know the pioneers. None of them were perfect--but all of them did their best, by God's grace, to spread the message of Jesus' soon return and the good news of the seventh-day Sabbath.
