the baller: The Baller Vi Keeland, 2019-12-17 The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men's locker room. It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster. But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for. Turned out, I was that girl. Simple right? Let's face it. It never is. There's a story between once upon a time and happily ever after... And this one is ours.

the baller: This Book Has Balls Michael Rapaport, 2017-10-24 The sports world according to Michael Rapaport—actor, Top 50 podcaster, award-winning film maker, and sports fanatic—from the greatest and downright worst athletes, players, teams, and jerseys, but minus statistics, analytics, or anything else that isn’t pure hustle in this “hell of a book” (Shaquille O'Neal). In 1979, nine-year-old Michael Rapaport decided he was going to do whatever it took to be a pro baller. He practiced and practiced, but by the time he was fifteen, he realized there was no place for a slow, white Jewish kid in the NBA. So, he found another way to channel his obsession with sports: talking trash. In the “crazy, passionate, funny and intense” (Colin Cowherd) This Book Has Balls, Rapaport uses his signature smack-talk style and in-your-face humor to discuss everything from why LeBron will never be like Mike, that Tiger needs the ladies to get his golf game back, and how he once thought Mary Lou Retton was his true love. And, of course, why next year will be the year the New York Knicks win the championship. This book is a series of rants—some controversial, some affectionate, but all incredibly hilarious. “Something is wrong with Michael Rapaport but that’s what makes him right,” (Charlamagne tha God).

He was patient, mindful, and strategic--all of the things that can enhance an athlete's playing ability and experience. This book explains how mind over matter will always lead to victory. Buddha was not agile, chiseled, or swift in movement with the ball, but the things he did possess would have allowed him to positively influence and add value to the performance of greats such as Michael Jordan or Lebron James. Typically, athleticism is viewed as a complete physical ability, but often the mental strengths one must have to get ahead on the court is overlooked. As you read Buddha Was a Baller, think about using these strategies on and off of the court for an enhanced experience along with your life journey whether you are an athlete or not.
the baller: Cold Hearted Baller Logan Chance, Logan, 2019-06-28 I have three superstitions I live by:1. No dating all season.2. Don't jinx a no-hitter while one's in progress. 3. Be cold-hearted. If you find something you think about more than baseball, destroy it. Calliope Thomas is one of those things. Ever since she left a bad review on the Max Energy Drink I endorse, I haven't been able to stop thinking about her. Obviously, when she said she hoped I had a losing season, I had to meet her and get her to take the words back. Now, she's making me do insane things. Like, obsess over the color of her panties or if I can make her blush. Read superstition one-I don't do this sort of thing. I play ball, not chase after a woman I barely know. But, I am, and she wants nothing to do with me. She thinks I'm the devil. And I have to say she makes me want to sin. I'm becoming a borderline stalker. And to make matters worse she's affecting my game. I can't pitch. I can't hit. I can't focus. Something needs to give, and it won't be me.

the baller: Sellout Dan Ozzi, 2022-10-18 NATIONAL BESTSELLER AN NPR BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR Ozzi's reporting is strong, balanced and well told...a worthy successor to its obvious inspiration, Michael Azerrad's 2001 examination of the '80s indie underground, Our Band Could Be Your Life.--New York Times Book Review A raucous history of punk, emo, and hardcore's growing pains during the commercial boom of the early 90s and mid-aughts, following eleven bands as they sell out and find mainstream fame, or break beneath the weight of it all. Punk rock found itself at a crossroads in the mid-90's. After indie favorite Nirvana catapulted into the mainstream with its unexpected phenomenon, Nevermind, rebellion was suddenly en vogue. Looking to replicate the band's success, major record labels set their sights on the underground, and began courting punk's rising stars. But the DIY punk scene, which had long prided itself on its trademark authenticity and anti-establishment ethos, wasn't quite ready to let their homegrown acts go without a fight. The result was a schism: those who accepted the cash flow of the majors, and those who defiantly clung to their indie cred. In Sellout, seasoned music writer Dan Ozzi chronicles this embattled era in punk. Focusing on eleven prominent bands who made the jump from indie to major, Sellout charts the twists and turns of the last gold rush of the music industry, where some groups sold out and rose to surprise super stardom, while others buckled under mounting pressures. Sellout is both a gripping history of the music industry's evolution, and a punk rock lover's guide to the chaotic darlings of the post-grunge era, featuring original interviews and personal stories from members of modern punk's most (in)famous bands: Green Day Jawbreaker Jimmy Eat World Blink-182 At the Drive-In The Donnas Thursday The Distillers My Chemical Romance Rise Against Against Me!

the baller: Soil Survey of Larimer County Area, Colorado Donald C. Moreland, 1980
the baller: Race and Sport Charles K. Ross, 2009-09-18 Even before the desegregation of the military and public education and before blacks had full legal access to voting, racial barriers had begun to fall in American sports. This collection of essays shows that for many African Americans it was the world of athletics that first opened an avenue to equality and democratic involvement. Race and Sport showcases African Americans as key figures making football, baseball, basketball, and boxing internationally popular, though inequalities still exist today. Among the early notables discussed is Fritz Pollard, an African American who played professional football before the National Football League established a controversial color barrier. Another, the boxer Sugar Ray Robinson, exemplifies the black American athlete as an international celebrity. African American women also played an important role in bringing down the barriers, especially in the early development of women's basketball. In baseball, both African American and Hispanic players faced down obstacles and entered the sports mainstream after World War II. One essay discusses the international spread of American imperialism through sport. Another shows how mass media images of African American athletes continue to shape public perceptions. Although each of these six essays explores a different facet of sports in America, together they comprise an analytical examination of African American society's tumultuous struggle for full participation both on and off the athletic field.
