symbols of recovery: A Digital Phase Locked Loop based Signal and Symbol Recovery System for Wireless Channel Basab Bijoy Purkayastha, Kandarpa Kumar Sarma, 2015-01-29 The book reports two approaches of implementation of the essential components of a Digital Phase Locked Loop based system for dealing with wireless channels showing Nakagami-m fading. It is mostly observed in mobile communication. In the first approach, the structure of a Digital phase locked loop (DPLL) based on Zero Crossing (ZC) algorithm is proposed. In a modified form, the structure of a DPLL based systems for dealing with Nakagami-m fading based on Least Square Polynomial Fitting Filter is proposed, which operates at moderate sampling frequencies. A sixth order Least Square Polynomial Fitting (LSPF) block and Roots Approximator (RA) for better phase-frequency detection has been implemented as a replacement of Phase Frequency Detector (PFD) and Loop Filter (LF) of a traditional DPLL, which has helped to attain optimum performance of DPLL. The results of simulation of the proposed DPLL with Nakagami-m fading and QPSK modulation is discussed in detail which shows that the proposed method provides better performance than existing systems of similar type. |
symbols of recovery: Recovery of the Sacred James Hitchcock, 2014-03-20 James Hitchcock gives an extraordinarily incisive analysis of the liturgical abuse and destructive liturgical reforms brought about by professional liturgists and other experts over the last thirty years. Hitchcock chronicles the havoc wreaked by modern liturgists who abandoned the noble purposes of the classical (pre-1965) Liturgical Movement whose aim was to deepen people's appreciation of the inexhaustible mystery of the liturgy by elevating the practice of the liturgy to incorporate neglected riches of earlier centuries, especially the Patristic Age. Instead of seeking a deeper understanding of the great traditions of the Church through the ages, liturgists have sought relevance by means of continued adaptation to contemporary culture. Hitchcock reveals how the tendency toward a desacralized liturgy has had the most profound effects on the whole life of the Church, as well as society. One's basic approach to liturgy is likely to be both a reflection and a catalyst to a whole range of values and beliefs. As Hitchcock states, It is impossible to change basic symbols and rituals without also changing the life of the society whose symbols and rituals they are. |

symbols of recovery: Paul Tillich, Carl Jung and the Recovery of Religion John P. Dourley, 2008-06-30 Is religion a positive reality in your life? If not, have you lost anything by forfeiting this dimension of your humanity? This book compares the theology of Tillich with the psychology of Jung, arguing that they were both concerned with the recovery of a valid religious sense for contemporary culture. Paul Tillich, Carl Jung and the Recovery of Religion explores in detail the diminution of the human spirit through the loss of its contact with its native religious depths, a problem on which both spent much of their working lives and energies. Both Tillich and Jung work with a naturalism that grounds all religion on processes native to the human being. Tillich does this in his efforts to recover that point at which divinity and humanity coincide and from which they differentiate. Jung does this by identifying the archetypal unconscious as the source of all religions now working toward a religious sentiment of more universal sympathy. This book identifies the dependence of both on German mysticism as a common ancestry and concludes with a reflection on how their joint perspective might affect religious education and the relation of religion to science and technology. Throughout the book, John Dourley looks back to the roots of both men's ideas about mediaeval theology and Christian mysticism making it ideal reading for analysts and academics in the fields of Jungian and religious studies. |

symbols of recovery: Parsing Theory Seppo Sippu, Eljas Soisalon-Soininen, 2013-04-17 This work is Volume II of a two-volume monograph on the theory of deterministic parsing of context-free grammars. Volume I, Languages and Parsing (Chapters 1 to 5), was an introduction to the basic concepts of formal language theory and context-free parsing. Volume II (Chapters 6 to 10) contains a thorough treat ment of the theory of the two most important deterministic parsing methods: LR(k) and LL(k) parsing. Volume II is a continuation of Volume I; together these two volumes form an integrated work, with chapters, theorems, lemmas, etc. numbered consecutively. Volume II begins with Chapter 6 in which the classical con structions pertaining to LR(k) parsing are presented. These include the canonical LR(k) parser, and its reduced variants such as the LALR(k) parser and the SLR(k) parser. The grammarclasses for which these parsers are deterministic are called LR(k) grammars, LALR(k) grammars and SLR(k) grammars; properties of these grammars are also investigated in Chapter 6. A great deal of attention is paid to the rigorous development of the theory: detailed mathematical proofs are provided for most of the results presented. |

symbols of recovery: Parsing Techniques Dick Grune, Ceriel J.H. Jacobs, 2007-10-29 Parsing, also referred to as syntax analysis, has been and continues to be an essential part of computer science and linguistics. Today, parsing techniques are also implemented in a number of other disciplines, including but not limited to, document preparation and conversion, typesetting chemical formulae, and chromosome recognition. This second edition presents new developments and discoveries that have been made in the field. Parsing techniques have grown considerably in importance, both in computational linguistics where such parsers are the only option, and computer science, where advanced compilers often use general CF parsers. Parsing techniques provide a solid basis for compiler construction and contribute to all existing software: enabling Web browsers to analyze HTML pages and PostScript printers to analyze PostScript. Some of the more advanced techniques are used in code generation in compilers and in data compression. In linguistics, the importance of formal grammars was recognized early on, but only recently have the corresponding parsing techniques been applied. Also their importance as general pattern recognizers is slowly being acknowledged. This text Parsing Techniques explores new developments, such as generalized deterministic parsing, linear-time substring parsing, parallel parsing, parsing as intersection, non-canonical methods, and non-Chomsky systems. To provide readers with low-threshold access to the full field of parsing techniques, this new edition uses a two-tiered structure. The basic ideas behind the dozen or so existing parsing techniques are explained in an intuitive and narrative style, and problems are presented at the conclusion of each chapter, allowing the reader to step outside the bounds of the covered material and explore parsing techniques at various levels. The reader is also provided with an extensive annotated bibliography as well as hints and partial solutions to a number of problems. In the bibliography, hundreds of realizations and improvements of parsing techniques are explained in a much terser, yet still informal, style, improving its readability and usability. The reader should have an understanding of algorithmic thinking, especially recursion; however, knowledge of any particular programming language is not required. |

symbols of recovery: Hyperthermia and Cancer George M. Hahn, 2012-12-06 Hyperthermia as a tool for the treatment of malignant disease is rapidly becoming a clinical reality. In this book I am attempting to summarize the known biological and physical underpinnings that have led to this development. I also present a compilation of existing clinical results, limited as these are. My aim is to provide oncologists and other physicians with up-to-date information on this modality, which is both new and old, as well as to make available to biologists, physicists and engineers sum maries of currently available information on specific areas of hyperthermic research. Many people have helped me with this book. Specifically, thanks are due to Drs. William Dewey, Jean Dutreix, Peter Fessenden, Gloria Li, and Jane Marmor. Their suggestions have been invaluable. I hope that not too many errors and omissions have crept into the volume, but in any case, for these I have only myself to blame. I also wish to express my appreciation to David Betten and Marie Graham for their help. Most of this material was written while I was on sabbatical leave on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. There I enjoyed the hospitality of a gracious, friendly, and proud people who deserve better than fate seems to have in store for them. |

symbols of recovery: Recovery of the Measure Robert C. Neville, 1989-01-01 Neville's most significant scholarly contribution is arguably his metaphysical theory of being (or being-itself): a new theory that involves an original solution to the ancient problem of the one and the many. He developed this theory for his PhD dissertation at Yale University (graduated 1963), of which his first book, God the Creator, constitutes a substantial revision. Exploring the implications of that theory has enabled him to produce a philosophy of nature that rivals Alfred North Whitehead's in scope and power, as can be seen from his three-volume Axiology of Thinking. The first volume in that trilogy, Reconstruction of Thinking (1981), was hailed by Donald W. Sherburne?editor of the corrected edition of Whitehead's Process and Reality?as a truly important book. It is the first genuinely neo-Whiteheadian offering on a large, systematic scale. The second volume of the trilogy, Recovery of the Measure: Interpretation and Nature (1989), was also well received. The prominent Confucian scholar and philosopher David L. Hall wrote of it as follows: Because of its timeliness, the brilliance of its arguments, and the profundity of its conclusions, |
