tarbiyah: Islamising Indonesia Yon Machmudi, 2008-11-01 The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is the most interesting phenomenon in contemporary Indonesian politics. Not only is it growing rapidly in membership and electoral support, it is also bringing a new and markedly different approach to Islamic politics, one which has no precedent in Indonesian history. Understanding PKS and analysing its political behaviour presents challenges to scholars and observers. This is partly due to the fact that the party represents a new trend within Indonesian Islam which has few parallels with preceding movements. Yon Machmudi has rendered us a valuable service. In this book, he provides a thoughtful and authoritative context for viewing PKS. He critiques the existing categorisations for Indonesian Islam and points to their inadequacy when describing the PKS and the campus-based Tarbiyah movement from which it sprang. He reworks the santri typology, dividing it into convergent, radical and global substreams. This offers new possibilities for explaining the PKS phenomenon and assists in differentiating between various types of Islamic revivalism in contemporary Indonesia. It also allows a more understanding of the accommodatory stance which PKS has towards the state and other political forces. Yon's text provides a good overview of the development of PKS from its Tarbiyah movement origins to its impressive success at the 2004 general elections. It considers the party's attitude towards the issues of sharia implementation and community welfare and closes by examining the future challenges facing PKS. It is a well written and authoritative account from a scholar who has done wideranging research on the party. |

tarbiyah: Persatuan Tarbiyah Islamiyah Sejarah, Paham Keagamaan, Dan Pemikiran Politik 1945-1970 Alaiddin Koto, 2023-10-27 Sejarah mencatat bahwa diantara organisasi yang cukup besar perannya dalam menyiarkan dan mengembangkan kajian keislam di Indonesia adalah Persatuan Tarbiyah Islamiyah. Bahkan, sampai awal tahun 1970-an, ia adalah satu-satunya organisasi Islam terbesar di Sumatera. Ribuan madrasah dan halaqah-halaqah pengajian dan tarekat berada di bawah organisasi ini. Pengaruhnya juga menyebar ke berbagai daerah di luar Sumatera, seperti ke Kalimantan Selatan, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Sulawesi Selatan dan lain sebagainya. Kini, organisasi yang didirikan oleh ulama “Kaum Tua” Minangkabau ini telah berusia 84 tahun, dan telah menyebar ke semua provinsi dengan jutaan anggota yang tersebar di seluruh pelosok Indonesia. Namun, amat disayangkan, sampai sejauh ini belum ada buku yang ditulis secara ilmiah yang menjelaskan profil organisasi ini, baik sejarah lahir dan pergerakkannya, maupun paham keagamaan dan kiprahnya dalam panggung politik Indonesia. Peneliti ini telah mengungkap beberapa kebijakan Jurusan Tarbiyah STAIN Ponorogo dalam mempersiapkan calon guru profesional melalui kegiatan PPLK-II. Buku ini adalah hasil penelitian yang difokuskan pada kegiatan PPLK II (Praktek Pengalalaman Lapangan Kependidikan), yaitu kegiatan real teching mahasiswa Jurusan Tarbiyah STAIN Ponorogo. tarbiyah: Early Childhood Education for Muslim Children Hasina Ebrahim, 2016-12-08 Early Childhood Education for Muslim Children foregrounds the marginalised perspective of Muslim children aged three to five and examines how they are cared for and educated in centre-based provision in two provinces in post-apartheid South Africa. Both theological and social science perspectives are carefully interwoven to make sense of the construction of service provision for Muslims as a minority group in a secular democracy. This book uses a qualitative, reflexive approach to amplify the voices of mothers, managers and teachers as the community of agents who shape priorities for young children in the context of a rapidly transforming society. The research demonstrates that the quest to establish an appropriate care network and a sound educative environment for Muslim children is riddled with complexities, struggles and tensions. In the light of changes in the home-based network for early education, centre-based provision has become an important infrastructure for Muslim communities seeking one-stop academic and Islamic education. The internal struggles encountered in this form of provision include inequities in access, struggles to package an appropriate curriculum, and dealing with nurturance specific to the faith and for cultural formations supportive of citizenship. tarbiyah: Islamising Indonesia Yon Machmudi, 2008 The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is the most interesting phenomenon in contemporary Indonesian politics. Not only is it growing rapidly in membership and electoral support, it is also bringing a new and markedly different approach to Islamic politics, one which has no precedent in Indonesian history. Understanding PKS and analysing its political behaviour presents challenges to scholars and observers. This is partly due to the fact that the party represents a new trend within Indonesian Islam which has few parallels with preceding movements. Yon Machmudi has rendered us a valuable service. In this book, he provides a thoughtful and authoritative context for viewing PKS. He critiques the existing categorisations for Indonesian Islam and points to their inadequacy when describing the PKS and the campus-based Tarbiyah movement from which it sprang. He reworks the santri typology, dividing it into convergent, radical and global substreams. This offers new possibilities for explaining the PKS phenomenon and assists in differentiating between various types of Islamic revivalism in contemporary Indonesia. It also allows a more understanding of the accommodatory stance which PKS has towards the state and other political forces. Yon's text provides a good overview of the development of PKS from its Tarbiyah movement origins to its impressive success at the 2004 general elections. It considers the party's attitude towards the issues of sharia implementation and community welfare and closes by examining the future challenges facing PKS.
