A growing body of literature has illustrated that NTFP harvest can have e- logical consequences at multiple ecological scales, and that demographic responses to harvest are heavily in?uenced by harvesting practices (see review by Ticktin 2004). However, although many NTFP are harvested from disturbed habitats and subject to multiple pressures (Cunningham 2001), few quantitative studies have addressed this issue. For example, a small number of studies have assessed the demographic effects of NTFP management practices in the context of browsing or grazing (Endress et al. 2004b; Ghimire et al. 2005), or human-induced ?re (Ticktin 2005). Nonetheless, the demographic consequences of NTFP harvest and mana- ment in the context of other disturbance factors, such as alien invasive species, have not been addressed to date. |

In particular, the management of traditional aquaculture and capture fisheries activities has been identified as the main instrument to maintain lagoons' ecological features and to prevent the degradation of their sensitive habitats, both from an environmental and socioeconomic point of view. To guarantee the sustainability of aquaculture and capture fisheries in lagoons, proper management plans should be established so as to ensure the preservation of both biodiversity and local knowledge. Shcherbatov, 2009-04-02 On the Corruption of Morals in Russia, is the most celebrated work of the Russian historian, philosopher and publicist Prince M. M. Shcherbatov (1733-90). Written towards the close of the reign of Catherine the Great, it is half memoir, half polemic, comprising a survey of Russian history in the eighteenth century from the point of view of a moral censor, and an outspoken attack on the decline of morals at the Court of St Petersburg, written by an aristocrat of exceptional erudition and strong conservative views, who was present at the Court of Catherine II, and knew well the persons and events which he describes. The work was not published during the author's lifetime; not surprisingly, since its contents were highly treasonable. The text, which is collated from the three primary manuscript copies of the original, is the first to include all important textual variants. |
