sda fundamental belief 11: The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan: From the Destruction of Jersualem to the End of the Controversy Ellen G. White, 2020-02-20 The Lord has shown me that Satan was once an honored angel in heaven, next to Jesus Christ. His countenance was mild, expressive of happiness like the other angels. His forehead was high and broad, and showed great intelligence. His form was perfect. He had noble, majestic bearing. And I saw that when God said to his Son, Let us make man in our image, Satan was jealous of Jesus. He wished to be consulted concerning the formation of man. He was filled with envy, jealousy and hatred. He wished to be the highest in heaven, next to God, and receive the highest honors. Until this time all heaven was in order, harmony and perfect subjection to the government of God.-Ellen G White |

- How did Adventists come to believe what they believe? How have those beliefs changed over the years? With compelling candor George Knight captures the ebb and flow of the doctrinal currents within Adventism, including controversies over the shut door, the law in Galatians at the 1888 General Conference, the Trinity, pantheism, Fundamentalism, the nature of Christ, and inspiration. The Adventist Church was founded by independent thinkers who would have disagreed with several of the church's current 27 fundamental beliefs. But over the years strength arose out of contention, and consensus out of debate. From William Miller to Desmond Ford, Knight catalogues the colorful personalities who shaped the discussion, and shows how God has led Adventism into a broader and deeper understanding of His eternal truth. - A Word to the Reader, A Note From the Author, List of Abbreviations, Chapter 1: The Dynamic Nature of Present Truth, Present Truth: Fluid Rather Than Static, The Avoidance of Creedal Rigidity, The Pathway of Progressive Understanding, Chapter 2: Adventism Wasn't Born in a Vacuum, The Theological Roots of Adventism, Millennial Visions, Chapter 3: The Millerite Theological Foundation, Miller's Use of the Bible, Miller on the Second Advent, The First and Second Angels' Messages, The Seventh-Month Movement and the Great Disappointment, Chapter 4: What Is Adventist in Adventism? sda fundamental belief 11: The Case for the Investigative Judgment Marvin Moore, 2010 Ellen White called Christ's ministry in the heavenly sanctuary the foundation of our faith (Evangelism, page 221) and said if the people of God don't understand the investigative judgment, it will be impossible for them to exercise the faith which is essential at this time. (Great Controversy, p 488). But critics of this doctrine say it can't be supported from Scripture, and they claim that no one who believes it can have the assurance of salvation. Popular author Marvin Moore has examined the objections of the critics and the best thinking of dedicated Adventist scholars. In this book, he aims to help the readers understand this foundational doctrine and gain its spiritual benefits - based solely on the evidence from Scripture. |

sda fundamental belief 11: Baptist Theology James Leo Garrett, 2009 This title offers a comprehensive analysis of Baptist theology. Embracing in one common trajectory the major Baptist confessions of faith, the major Baptist theologians, and the principal Baptist theological movements and controversies, this book spans four centuries of Baptist doctrinal history. Acknowledging first the pre-1609 roots (patristic, medieval, and Reformational) of Baptist theology, it examines the Arminian versus Calvinist issues that were first expressed by the General Baptists and the Particular Baptists; that dominated English and American Baptist theology during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries from Helwys and Smyth and from Bunyan and Kiffin to Gill, Fuller, Backus, and Boyce; and, that were quickened by the 'awakenings' and the missionary movement. Concurrently there were the Baptist defense of the Baptist distinctives vis-a-vis the pedobaptist world and the unfolding of a strong Baptist confessional tradition. Then during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries the liberal versus evangelical issues became dominant with Hovey, Strong, Rauschenbusch, and Henry in the North and Mullins, Conner, Hobbs, and Criswell in the South even as a distinctive Baptist Landmarkism developed, the discipline of biblical theology was practiced and a structured ecumenism was pursued. Missiology both impacted Baptist theology and took it to all the continents, where it became increasingly indigenous. Conscious that Baptists belong to the free churches and to the believers' churches, a new generation of Baptist theologians at the advent of the twenty-first century appears somewhat more Calvinist than Arminian and decidedly more evangelical than liberal. |

All are historically and theologically accurate. sda fundamental belief 11: The Investigative Judgement Marc Rasell, 2014-08-27 The question that perplexes many Christians is how can I be sure I am saved? The topic of the investigative judgement, a heavenly tribunal that investigates the cases of professed believers sheds some light on this question. There can be no greater event in history, yet very few are interested in the results of this tribunal which affects the destiny of everyone who has ever lived on earth. A battle rages over the souls of men, a battle which also includes the vindication of God’s character and law. The investigative judgement is one of the most exciting doctrines in the Bible, because it reveals Christ as the all powerful Mediator. |
sda fundamental belief 11: Lovangelism Mark F. Carr, 2010-12-21 What the world needs now is love, sweet love, it's the only thing that there's just too little of. These lyrics are from a popular song in 1965, but they still ring true today. As Christians we should have a different perspective on love. God loves us unconditionally, and as we bask in that love and strive to be like Christ, we should in turn love like He loves. Whether it's our family, church members, co-workers, neighbors, or community members, we need to learn to love them like God loves us. Lovangelism addresses the subject of love and how it relates to evangelism and winning souls for Christ. The author asks thought-provoking questions and provides personal experiences, biblical instruction, and practical advice in regards to loving those around us and deepening our spiritual relationship with God. Has God's love transformed your life? Let it transform the lives of those around you. Read Lovangelism today, and change the way you interact with those around you and transform your approach for reaching souls for Christ. God calls us to love without limits. Let us embrace that commission! |

How can we truly understand if we cannot even be sure we are getting the facts straight? In this comprehensive resource, more than 75 evangelical scholars offer a thoroughly researched guide to Christianity, other world religions, and alternative religious views, including entries on movements, theological terms, and major historical figures. Perfect for pastors, students, and anyone who wants ready access to information on today's religious landscape. |
sda fundamental belief 11: Mission in Progress Barden Chirwa, 2020-11-17 Since the establishment of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Malawi in 1902, there is now available much information on the cases, narratives and experiences of women that shows the contribution of women to the progress of the SDA mission in Malawi. That record reveals a notable increase in the developing role of women in the SDA Church in Malawi, blended with both successful and challenging experiences. This has prompted the writing of this book. My aim is to present a historical record of the developing role of women in the SDA Church in Malawi. The purpose is to provide a first critical analysis, in a Malawian context, of a wider range of biblical and socio-cultural issues affecting the role of women in the SDA Church in Malawi. |

sda fundamental belief 11: Seventh-Day Adventist Unveiled Nicolette Bucknor, The purpose of this book is to share the truth and unveil the hidden deceit that is buried within the SDA Seventh-Day Adventist religion. I know Adventists are not the only religion to have strayed from the truth of the Bible, but I hold the strong stance that if a religion contradicts the teachings of the Bible, they are a false religion, promoting a false gospel. I do not say this to offend persons of other religions, but at the same time I think it’s important to be honest and straightforward when telling you what I believe. The Bible is clear that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. My goal is to share the truth, and my motive for making this book is one of love. The reason I am specifically focusing on Seventh-Day Adventists, is because I was a part of that religion so the matter is close to my heart. I have a number of Adventist friends and family, and whilst I know most of them would say their beliefs are based solely on the Bible, sadly that is not the case. The Adventist worldview has been shaped around the teachings and writings of Ellen G. White. Some Adventists, do not even know that her supposed visions are what helped to establish the religion. Her writings are still adhered to today, as she claimed to have seen past, present, and future events. Ellen G. White considered herself to be more than a prophet, and insisted that the words she wrote were not merely her own opinions, but the words of God. She concealed her contradictions of the Bible, under the guise of receiving new light that the Bible prophets did not have. The claim of being a prophet cannot be taken lightly, and in order for us not to be deceived, we must be prepared to test the words of any self-proclaimed prophet. 1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. There is no other book in the world, like the Bible, as it contains the words of the living God. The Bible has proven itself to be a reliable source of truth. Through the Bible, God has told us everything we need to know. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. My hope is that Adventists out there will be prepared to read this book, with an open mind so that they can genuinely consider the points raised. If you are not an Adventist, but want to know more about their religion, I hope this book can be useful to you too. |
