  scag charging system: Engineered Cementitious Composites for Electrified Roadway in Megacities Ali Aryo Bawono, 2022-01-03 This book describes the development of an innovative solution for electrified roadway pavements based on engineered cementitious composites, which are exhibiting an extreme tensile strain capacity that is much higher than conventional concrete. This enables the pavement to work without steel reinforcement and to embed a dynamic wireless power transfer technology for charging electric vehicles. At first, the book presents a modified performance-driven design approach to improve the composites to achieve the optimum pavement design in terms of functional and structural performance. It shows that the modified composites can be used to fulfil the safety and comfort factors without neglecting the characteristics of conventional ones. Further, 3D finite element and fluid dynamics models are used to analyse the pavement properties. The validated models can predict the functional performance, including skid resistance, surface water drainage, and noise. In the remaining part of the thesis, an environmentally-friendly photocatalytic function for pavement made of engineered cementitious composites is investigated. In turn, a multi-criteria design analysis is proposed to identify the optimum functional performance of the pavements. All in all, this book reports on a comprehensive approach to design, analyse and optimize engineered cementitious composites for electrified road pavement application. A special emphasis is given on applications in Singapore and other tropical megacities.

  scag charging system: Criminal Trial Delays in Australia Jason Payne, 2007-01-01 This research examines the reasons for which criminal trials in Australia fail to proceed on the day of listing. The rationale of such an inquiry is that matters that fail to proceed as scheduled contribute to backlog and delay, both of which consume significant criminal justice resources. Moreover, delay in the criminal trial system may result in adverse effects, not the least of which is the anguish endured by the victims of crime and their families, and the community demanding protection from criminal offenders. This research used quantitative data from courts across a number of Australian states and territories to demonstrate that more than half of all listed criminal trials fail to commence on the listed day. After an analysis of data about trials and extensive interviews with court administrators, it is found that those trials that do not proceed can be placed into two categories: those trials that are finalised on or near the trial date either by way of late guilty plea or late withdrawal by the prosecution, and those trials that are adjourned and re-listed. While some delays will be inevitable, the report builds on recommendations made by a working group of the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General to suggest ways of reducing the backlog of criminal trials across Australia.

Much of this achievement was driven by an untapped, rapidly-growing labor force and the enablement of greater labor participation in higher-productivity sectors of the economy. Yet, as Vietnam has restructured its economic activity towards manufacturing, more mechanized primary sector production and, increasingly, services, and as the labor force is projected to expand at a markedly lower rate than before, finding new sources of productivity improvements has become the key to sustaining economic growth going forward.Improvements in freight logistics can unlock productivity gains across the Vietnamese economy for years to come. The shippers and carriers that operate the supply chains that connect Vietnam to the global economy generally perceive that logistics costs in Vietnamthose incurred when moving, storing and inspecting goodsare more onerous than in peer economies like China, Malaysia and Thailand, even as they are also perceived to be more competitive than those in other developing Asian countries. While many factors may contribute to costly logistics, the main source of underperformance in Vietnams logistics sector appears to be the inventory-carrying implications of unreliable freight itineraries, unpredictable inspection and clearance procedures, and an uncertain planning, legal and regulatory framework. The symposia provide forums for the exploration of opportunities for transatlantic collaboration in transportation research. The first of these symposia, titled City Logistics Research: A Transatlantic Perspective, was conducted May 30-31, 2013, at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, D.C.A planning committee of four European and four American delegates was appointed by the National Research Council to organize and develop the symposium program, which included four plenary sessions: Demand Patterns and Trends; Schemes and Technologies for Enhancing Urban Distribution; Terminals and Hubs: Impacts and Strategies; and Logistics Efficiency in Urban Areas. These Proceedings follow the symposium format and plenary sessions in chronological order. All research topics that speakers identified in the course of their presentations are included in the summary. The symposium participants included 25 European and 25 American subject matter experts, researchers, academicians, and industry practitioners. The speakers reflected on the challenges of last mile cargo delivery in major metropolitan areas and the global supply chain and offered myriad examples of innovative uses of technology to increase throughput efficiency and reduce cost, traffic congestion, and vehicle emissions. This report, prepared by the symposium rapporteurs, is a compilation of the presentations and a factual summary of the ensuing discussions at the event.
