prayer for positive outcome in court: The Peaceful Wife April Cassidy, 2016-01-27 “This book walks each of us through the reality checks we need in order to have the marriage we want!” —Shaunti Feldhahn, social researcher and best-selling author of For Women Only In today’s workplace, women are often rewarded for having type A personalities: driven, demanding, ambitious, and strong. Yet when it comes to their marriages, those same traits can backfire. After all, no one goes into marriage hoping for a promotion. What is a wife to do? April Cassidy knows this struggle firsthand. She thought she was a great Christian wife and begged God to make her passive husband into a more loving, involved, godly leader. Instead, God opened her eyes to changes that she needed to make, such as laying down her desire for control and offering genuine, unconditional respect—not just love—to her husband. Cassidy’s conclusions may be as startling to readers as they were to her, but The Peaceful Wife shares how she and many others have learned to reorient their lives to biblical commands—resulting in healthier, happier marriages. In the end, you’ll find The Peaceful Wife a powerful path to God’s design for women to live in full submission to Christ as Lord.

prayer for positive outcome in court: A Sociology of Prayer Giuseppe Giordan, Linda Woodhead, 2017-05-15 Prayer is a central aspect of religion. Even amongst those who have abandoned organized religion levels of prayer remain high. Yet the most basic questions remain unaddressed: What exactly is prayer? How does it vary? Why do people pray and in what situations and settings? Does prayer imply a god, and if so, what sort? A Sociology of Prayer addresses these fundamental questions and opens up important new debates. Drawing from religion, sociology of religion, anthropology, and historical perspectives, the contributors focus on prayer as a social as well as a personal matter and situate prayer in the conditions of complex late modern societies worldwide. Presenting fresh empirical data in relation to original theorising, the volume also examines the material aspects of prayer, including the objects, bodies, symbols, and spaces with which it may be integrally connected.

prayer for positive outcome in court: Implicit Religion in Contemporary Society Edward I. Bailey, 2006 The book reports three studies that were undertaken of what moves people - firstly as individuals, through verbal interviews; secondly in a public house, through working behind the bar; and thirdly in a residential community, through being the Rector of a parish. In each case it poses the question, whether our understanding of the human reality revealed in the situation, can be progressed by comparing it with what is known about religion. In other words, can Religious Studies help us to understand secular life, in the way that Social-scientific Studies have helped us to understand the religious life? The Implicit Religion that is looked for in the three studies is defined in terms of people's commitments or integrating foci, or intensive concerns with extensive effects. The first study revealed an all-but-ineffable apprehension and valuation of the Self. The second revealed a context in which Selves can hold their own with other Selves. The third unexpectedly revealed a commitment, which was as ultimate as it was intimate, to what was called Christianity. The content of this belief is analysed, and compared with historical forms of Christianity. This attention to intentionality may be seen as the particular contribution that the study of Religion, and of Religions (as type-cases), can make to the social-scientific understanding of human behaviour and human being. In the three decades that have passed since Dr. Bailey began to test this approach, much post-modernity theory has moved in a similar direction. This volume constitutes the firts full-lenght report, of the first systematic tests to have been made, of a concept that has come to be accepeted in both academic and religious circles.

prayer for positive outcome in court: My Prayer-Book (Happiness in Goodness) Francis Xavier Lasance, 2024-09-05 Reprint of the 1908 Edition. If you're looking for your first prayer book (after, of course, your Bible and your missal), this is a perfect choice. Nearly one hundred meditative commentaries cover topics as ranging as how and why to do daily contemplative prayer, living a life in preparation for death, what sort of entertainment to avoid, sin and forgiveness, and a host of other topics integral to private life. The second section's intuitive organization of devotions, litanies, novenas, and celebrations will also steer the faithful toward the book's objective. And if all else fails, there's always a well-catalogued index. From a reader: When contemporary prayers many times seem to miss the mark on touching the heartfelt meaning of what you want to convey to your Heavenly Father, you can confidently turn to this prayer book and find what you seek. Lasance was a very devout priest. Having suffered with years of poor health, he had time as a chaplain for personal, spiritual contemplation and deep, genuine devotion to our Lord. Part one of the prayer book includes several pages of his personal reflections on a variety of spiritual and sacred topics that are deeply insightful and gently coax your own spiritual contemplation and relationship with God. Part two of the book includes a diverse selection of beautifully written traditional prayers such as: Morning Prayers, Evening Prayers, Prayers During the Day, The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Devotions for Confession, Devotions for Communion, Benedictions for the Blessed Sacrament, The Stations of the Cross, Litanies, General Devotions and Miscellaneous Prayers. One of my favorites is a prayer used to prepare for a good death called Conformity to God's Will - Behold me, Lord; do with me what Thou wilt, May Thy will be ever done; I only desire what Thou wilt. I desire to suffer what Thou willest; I desire to die when Thou willest. Into Thy hands I commend my body, my soul, my life, and my death. I love Thee, O my God, whether it pleaseth Thee to send me consolations or afflictions, and I desire to love Thee always. Eternal Father, I unite my death to that of Jesus Christ, and I offer it to Thee in order to please Thee, Will of my God, Thou art my love. Good pleasure of my God, I devote myself entirely to Thee. The book was written at a time when old English was still in use and prior to Vatican II so it will ring quite true to the values of a traditional Roman Catholic - something I value highly!
