paracord ideas for hunting: Shelters, Shacks and Shanties Daniel Carter Beard, 2016-08-18 As this book is written for boys of all ages, it has been divided under two general heads, The Tomahawk Camps and The Axe Camps, that is, camps which may be built with no tool but a hatchet, and camps that will need the aid of an axe. The smallest boys can build some of the simple shelters and the older boys can build the more difficult ones. The reader may, if he likes, begin with the first of the book, build his way through it, and graduate by building the log houses; in doing this he will be closely following the history of the human race, because ever since our arboreal ancestors with prehensile toes scampered among the branches of the pre-glacial forests and built nestlike shelters in the trees, men have made themselves shacks for a temporary refuge. But as one of the members of the Camp-Fire Club of America, as one of the founders of the Boy Scouts of America, and as the founder of the Boy Pioneers of America, it would not be proper for the author to admit for one moment that there can be such a thing as a camp without a camp-fire, and for that reason the tree folks and the missing link whose remains were found in Java, and to whom the scientists gave the awe-inspiring name of Pithecanthropus erectus, cannot be counted as campers, because they did not know how to build a camp-fire; neither can we admit the ancient maker of stone implements, called eoliths, to be one of us, because he, too, knew not the joys of a camp-fire. But there was another fellow, called the Neanderthal man, who lived in the ice age in Europe and he had to be a camp-fire man or freeze! As far as we know, he was the first man to build a camp-fire. The cold weather made him hustle, and hustling developed him. True, he did cook and eat his neighbors once in a while, and even split their bones for the marrow; but we will forget that part and just remember him as the first camper in Europe. |

The 2nd edition is significantly revised, comprehensive, and updated at over 600 pages. Realistic Bug Out Bag by Max Cooper sets itself apart from many other similar books. This book covers the reality of bug out bags. Too many people solely focus on loading up their bag until the zippers are about to rip apart. Their bags are too full and way too heavy to travel on foot. You cannot assume that in a bug out situation you will be able to use your 4x4 and travel to your bug out location. Chances are gridlock or other road conditions will render your vehicle useless. You may have to travel on foot and you must have a bug out bag that you can realistically carry. Yet, many people have never stepped outside the comfort of their home and carried their bug out bag on their back. For these unprepared individuals failure is a very real reality. Realistic Bug Out Bag covers aspects that you need to know in order to bug out including a very useful Bug Out Bag Assessment which will provide you a good idea of how prepared you are to immediately bug out. This book is not about lists although some lists are included. It is about your decision making ability to know and understand the cost/benefit ratio of every piece of equipment that you decide to put into your bug out bag. Way too many individuals have their bug out bag stored in their home incorrectly believe that they are ready to bug out...but they are not. Read Realistic Bug Out Bag to find out why you are more than likely not prepared to bug out and how you can remedy your situation. Finding out that you are not adequately prepared during a bug out event is a preventable failure...this book is the prevention! This is a must have book for your preparedness resource library. |
paracord ideas for hunting: DIY Makeshift Weapons for Survival Ronald Williams, 2017-03-31 Rocks. Clubs. Spears. Bows and arrows. Catapults. Muskets. Pistols. Shotguns. Automatic rifles. Rocket launchers. Intercontinental missiles. Nuclear weapons. What do all of these things have in common? They are all weapons that man has created over the centuries for the simple purpose of defense (or for hunting, with some weapons). It's almost as if creating weapons has been just as big a priority for mankind as building shelter, foraging for food, or finding clean water. Of course, there's good reason why. Our natural instinct as human beings is to survive, and one of the top concerns in both our ordinary day-to-day lives and in a true life-or-death survival situation is security. Not only do we strive to protect ourselves, we will also do anything we possibly can to keep our loved ones safe and our homes and property secured as well. Today, we take modern technology largely for granted and weapons are definitely no exception. But let me ask you something: if you found yourself in a wilderness survival or in a large scale national disaster scenario without any modern weapons, what would you do? No guns. No knives. No machetes. No fancy crossbows or compound bows. Just your bare hands and the materials that are either in your home and/or that nature has provided for you. In this kind of a situation, you would have to settle for weapons that are more primitive but that are still effective at hunting game and defending yourself and your family from attacks from other people with ill intentions. If these weapons worked for our ancestors hundreds of years ago, they will continue to work for you today. A post-disaster world will be a dangerous place. Paper money may become worthless, stores and restaurants will be looted, there may be martial law by the military and law enforcement, streets will become shut down, and once ordinary people will become hungry and desperate and start raiding other people's homes for food and supplies. You cannot allow yourself or your family to become a victim in this scenario. You have to learn how to fight and to have the weapons to give you an advantage in a life-or-death situation. Hopefully you'll already have tools such as guns with you, but if you don't and need to make your own primitive weapons instead, the information in this book will undoubtedly come in handy. In this book, we are going to cover a series of different DIY weapons that you can either make in your home or in the wilderness with a detailed step-by-step process for each one. The specific weapons that we will cover include the following:* Club* Homemade Pepper Spray * Homemade Stun Gun* Long Bow* Paracord Monkey Fist* Sling Shot* Spear (Fire Hardened)* Spear (Knife)* Spear (Pronged)By the end of reading this book, you will know how to build each of these weapons and the only thing left for you to at that point will be to, well, build them!Hopefully you never find yourself in a situation where you'll have to use one of these weapons to defend yourself or your family. Nonetheless, the circumstances that would force you to do so are largely out of your control. You never know when disaster could strike and looters could come knocking on your door. This is why it's always better to be prepared, and the knowledge and ability to construct these weapons (and training yourself in the use of them) could be what saves your life and the lives of your loved ones. |
