  navy occupational standards: Navy Basic Military Requirements (Navedtra 14325) - Nonresident Training Course Naval Education a And Technology Center, 2013-06-30 COURSE OVERVIEW: Basic Military Requirements, NAVEDTRA 14325, is a self-study training manual (TRAMAN)/nonresidsent training course (NRTC) that covers the basic knowledges required of the men and women of the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve. This TRAMAN/NRTC provides subject matter that directly relates to the naval standards for the apprenticeship (E-2/E-3) rates. The naval standards are found in the Manual of Navy Enlisted Manpower and Personnel Classification and Occupational Standards (Volume 1), NAVPERS 18068F. THE COURSE: This self-study course is organized into subject matter areas, each containing learning objectives to help you determine what you should learn along with text and illustrations to help you understand the information. The subject matter reflects day-to-day requirements and experiences of personnel in the rating or skill area. It also reflects guidance provided by Enlisted Community Managers (ECMs) and other senior personnel, technical references, instructions, etc.

The Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) system, of which the NEC coding system is a part, supplements the enlisted rating structure in identifying personnel on active or inactive duty and billets in manpower authorizations. NEC codes identify a non-rating wide skill, knowledge, aptitude, or qualification that must be documented to identify both people and billets for management purposes. Additionally, an NEC can be used to identify special circumstances or situations with approval via the NEOCS process. 2. The NEC coding system facilitates management control over enlisted skills by identifying billets and personnel and enhancing efficient use of personnel in distribution and detailing. Garey, 2008 San Diegoas Naval Training Center (NTC) was commissioned on June 1, 1923, and for 70 years served as a young recruitas introduction to a naval career, beginning with nine weeks of basic orientation and organization training (BOOT) camp. Originally consisting of 135 acres adjacent to San Diego Bay, NTC eventually expanded to almost 550 acres with 300 buildings, landscaped promenades, parade grounds, and a concrete training anon-ship, a the USS Recruit (a.k.a. USS Neversail), where recruits learned their first duties of seamanship. Advanced training schools were later added for military personnel learning specialized duties. After training hundreds of thousands of recruits, NTC was officially closed on April 30, 1997, and has since been transformed into San Diegoas new and vibrant cultural center, Liberty Station.

Second, it serves as a handy reference that Sailors can rely on as a ready source of basic information as they continue their service, whether for only one “hitch” or for an entire career. To that end, this 25th edition has been reorganized to more efficiently reflect those dual purposes, with the first part of the book consisting of “Chapters” that provide introductions and basic explanations that Sailors new to the Navy will find most helpful, and the second part consisting of “Tabs” that deal with specifics—often mere tables—that seasoned Sailors will find useful for reference purposes. Also unique to this latest edition has been the creation of an accompanying website that will serve to keep the book current and provide valuable supplementary material. In total, this latest edition of a recognized Navy classic continues to serve today’s “Bluejackets” and “Old Salts” in the traditional manner while providing a fresh approach that will be welcomed by potential recruits, Navy buffs, and a growing number of Bluejacket Manual collectors.
