musc health ashley river tower: Female Pelvic Medicine Kathleen C. Kobashi, Steven D. Wexner, 2021-04-13 This book is designed as a guide for management of advanced clinical scenarios encountered by the contemporary pelvic floor surgeon. It is organized by pelvic floor disorder (PFD) and covers the evaluation and treatment of urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. Opening chapters in each section cover the fundamentals of proper and comprehensive assessment of patient PFDs, as well as the treatment options that are available for each disorder. The book then focuses on more complex and challenging situations that are becoming more frequently encountered as the number of patients being treated for PFD increases and the length of patient follow-up grows. Each chapter finally includes an expert commentary to address these new scenarios and offers a shifted approach from that required for treatment-naïve patients. Female Pelvic Medicine: Challenging Cases with Expert Commentary teaches the reader how to approach the most difficult of clinical situations in a multidisciplinary fashion. |

musc health ashley river tower: Nephrology in 30 Days Robert F. Reilly (M.D.), Mark Perazella, 2005-02-11 A concise review of the core principles and clinical entities associated with nephrology at the point of care. 4 STAR DOODY'S REVIEW This is an absolutely wonderful book and excellent for medical students, physician assistants, and trainees in all the medical disciplines. It differs from other handbooks or concise manuals by providing more detailed coverage of the fundamental pathophysiology and basic science behind each disorder, which facilitates understanding. The leading questions, highlighting key points in a colorful manner, the numerous figures and algorithms, and the easy-to-read style make this book rather unique. Although the width of the pages is wider than the usual handbooks and does not make this book a true pocket book, the larger font and the addition of all the tables and figures make it much easier to read. I highly recommend this book to students and trainees rotating on the nephrology service.--Doody's Review Service Covers all major acute and chronic kidney diseases, from acid/base disturbances to stones to end stage renal disease. Features a concise, manageable format with recommended timeframes for mastering the content, case studies, and summary tables. Perfect for trainees and practicing non-specialists. |

musc health ashley river tower: The New Hepatitis C Nancy Reau, Donald M. Jensen, 2018-02-23 Fueled in part by the opioid epidemic, the number of reported hepatitis C virus infections tripled in the United States between 2010 and 2015. As new infections continue to mount, new therapies have produced seismic changes in how HCV is treated clinically, leaving a gap between the most current clinical guidance and the ongoing demands of patient care. The New Hepatitis C is a current and essential review of HCV's epidemiology, diagnosis, and clinical approaches -- a clinician's guidebook for navigating everything from screening to treatment. Acute and chronic HCV are addressed, as are important new treatment options for HCV, management of side effects, and a convenient summary of clinical trials on the treatment of chronic hepatitis C. Updated to detail the standards of care that will define the next decade of HCV management, this evidence-based volume is an essential clinical reference for to any practitioner in gastroenterology, hepatology, infectious disease, transplant, or internal medicine. |

But there is an analogous spin put to it unlike any other literature that can be found on the subject, one that should bring out a chuckle and possibly a raised eyebrow every now and then. Tough combination, cancer and chuckles, but objective #1 should always be to have the last laugh, and that includes when dealing with cancer. |

musc health ashley river tower: Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Desk Reference (FEMA 345) Federal Emergency Management Agency, 2013-02-01 FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program is a powerful resource in the combined effort by Federal, State, and local government, as well as private industry and homeowners, to end the cycle of repetitive disaster damage. The Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act was passed on November 23, 1988, amending Public Law 93-288, the Disaster Relief Act of 1974. The Stafford Act included Section 404, which established the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. In 1993, the Hazard Mitigation and Relocation Act amended Section 404 to increase the amount of HMGP funds available and the cost-share to 75 percent Federal. This amendment also encouraged the use of property acquisition and other non-structural flood mitigation measures. In an effort to streamline HMGP delivery, FEMA encourages States to develop their mitigation programs before disaster strikes. States are adopting a more active HMGP management role. Increased capabilities may include: Conducting comprehensive all-hazard mitigation planning prior to disaster events; Providing applicants technical assistance on sound mitigation techniques and hazard mitigation policy and procedures; Coordinating mitigation programs through interagency teams or councils. Conducting benefit-cost analyses; and Preparing National Environmental Policy Act reviews for FEMA approval. States that integrate the HMGP with their frequently updated State Administrative and Hazard Mitigation Plans will create cohesive and effective approaches to loss reduction. This type of coordinated approach minimizes the distinction between “predisaster” and “post-disaster” time periods, and instead produces an ongoing mitigation effort. Hazard mitigation is any sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards and their effects. A key purpose of the HMGP is to ensure that the opportunity to take critical mitigation measures to protect life and property from future disasters is not lost during the recovery and reconstruction process following a disaster. Program grant funds available under Section 404 of the Stafford Act provide States with the incentive and capability to implement mitigation measures that previously may have been infeasible. The purpose of this Desk Reference is to: Provide comprehensive information about FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP); Increase awareness of the HMGP as an integral part of statewide hazard mitigation efforts; and Encourage deeper commitments and increased responsibilities on the part of all States and communities to reduce damage and losses from natural disasters. This Desk Reference is organized to simplify program information and assist the reader with practical guidance for successful participation in the program. Lists of program-related acronyms and definitions are included, along with appendices that amplify selected aspects of the HMGP. This Desk Reference is organized into 14 sections, each of which presents a major HMGP subject area. In each section, information is presented on the right side of the page. In several sections, job aids containing supplemental material are provided. The job aids for each section can be found at the end of the section. At the front of each section, there is a detailed table of contents to help you locate specific information. |

musc health ashley river tower: Charleston! Charleston! The Estate of Walter J. Fraser, Jr., 2022-03-29 Often called the most Southern of Southern cities, Charleston was one of the earliest urban centers in North America. It quickly became a boisterous, brawling sea city trading with distant ports, and later a capital of the Lowcountry plantations, a Southern cultural oasis, and a summer home for planters. In this city, the Civil War began. And now, in the twentieth century, its metropolitan area has evolved into a microcosm of the military-industrial complex. This book records Charleston's development from 1670 and ends with an afterword on the effects of Hurricane Hugo in 1989, drawing with special care on information from every facet of the city's life—its people and institutions; its art and architecture; its recreational, social and intellectual life; its politics and city government. The most complete social, political, and cultural history of Charleston, this book is a treasure chest for historians and for anyone interested in delving into this lovely city, layer by layer. |
musc health ashley river tower: Surgical Dermatopathology Mary Maloney, A. Torres, TJ Hoffman, 1999-03-19 Surgical dermatology is a growing field reflecting the increasing incidence of photodamage and sun-related tumors, whether benign or malignant. These diseases require expert pathological diagnosis -- sometimes interoperatively -- and therefore all it is important to learn not only techniques of lesion removal, but also specimen preparation and histological appearance. Surgical dermatology covers the gamut of surgical skin lesions, clinical features, histologic subtypes, frozen section and permanent section interpretation, and differential diagnosis. Normal variants are covered in depth. Laboratory techniques for frozen, permanent and MOHS fixed tissue preparation are given. There is a very useful section on artifacts and margin control, both of which have important practical implications. Because other dermatopathology texts cover all dermatologic diseases, they do not focus in such depth on the particular problems of technique and recognition proposed by dermatosurgical specimens. |

musc health ashley river tower: Nonattainment New Source Review, Us Environmental Protection Agency Regulation, 2018 Law Library, 2018-08-24 Nonattainment New Source Review (NSR) (US Environmental Protection Agency Regulation) (EPA) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Nonattainment New Source Review (NSR) (US Environmental Protection Agency Regulation) (EPA) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 The EPA is finalizing revisions to the regulations governing the nonattainment new source review (NSR) program mandated by section 110(a)(2)(C) of the Clean Air Act (CAA or Act). These revisions implement changes to the preconstruction review requirements for major stationary sources in nonattainment areas in interim periods between designation of new nonattainment areas and adoption of a revised State Implementation Plan (SIP). The revisions conform the nonattainment permitting rules that apply during the SIP development period following nonattainment designations before SIP approval to the Federal permitting rules applicable to SIP-approved programs. The changes are intended to provide a consistent national program for permitting major stationary sources in nonattainment areas under section 110(a)(2)(C) and part D of title I of the Act. In particular, these changes conform the regulations to the NSR reform provisions that EPA promulgated by notice dated December 31, 2002, except that these changes do not include the NSR reform provisions for clean units or pollution control projects, which the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit vacated in New York v. EPA, 413 F.3d 3 (DC Cir. 2005). In addition, these changes include an interim interpretation of the NSR reform provision for a reasonable possibility standard for recordkeeping and reporting requirements, in accordance with that court decision. This interim interpretation to the reasonable possibility standard applies for appendix S purposes, pending the completion of rulemaking to develop a more complete interpretation. This book contains: - The complete text of the Nonattainment New Source Review (NSR) (US Environmental Protection Agency Regulation) (EPA) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section |
