myst: Becoming the Iceman Wim Hof, Justin Rosales, 2011-11 Becoming the Iceman is a project inspired by Wim and Justin to show the world that anyone can adopt the ability to become an Iceman or Icewoman. The project's goal is to show that the ability to control the body's temperature is not a genetic defect in Wim, but an ability that can be adopted by everyone. For many generations, we have been taught to fear the cold: Don't forget your jacket You don't want hypothermia, do you?Put your gloves on before you get frostbite Of course, these are consequences of extreme cold exposure, but with the proper understanding, anyone can learn to use the cold as a natural teacher. You may have seen Wim Hof on television running barefoot through the snow or swimming in ice-cold waters. While performing those incredible feats, Wim remained completely warm and comfortable the entire time Wim is the epitome of what can happen if someone uses the cold to train the body. Like any new tool, you must understand how it works before you can use it efficiently. This pertains to the cold as well. You may be wondering, How can you prove that anyone can learn this ability?Well, as of Fall 2009, Justin Rosales had no experience with the cold whatsoever. He was a college student attending Penn State University. After Justin's friend, Jarrett, showed him one of Wim's videos on You-Tube, he became exceedingly interested in understanding this ability. He wanted to see if it was possible for anyone to learn. In Spring 2010, after speaking to Wim for several months via email, Wim invited Justin to attend his workshop in Poland. After many weeks of working as a dishwasher, Justin was able to pay for the trip and learn the technique of the Iceman. With more training and countless experiences with the cold, Justin began to slowly adapt. The length of time he could remain exposed increased dramatically. He quickly realized that the technique to withstand the cold was, indeed, an ability that could be learned by everyone. This book tells the tale of Wim and Justin's journey to Becoming the Iceman |

myst: The Secret of My-Myst Mike Dicerto, 2020-11-17 Rupert Starbright, separated from his guide and protector Dream Weaver, travels the dangerous Wildness with two wild boys who have vowed to help Murkus defeat Queen Chroma and conquer Far-Myst. Separated from the boy who calls himself Xerks, Rupert and the other boy, who is none other than Dream Weaver’s son Quix, stumble on a gateway to a land of mystery—My-Myst, the land of the dreaded Farseens. As Murkus, now a creature half man and half dragon, sucks all the joy and color from Far-Myst with his deadly dark sun, Rupert decides he must confront his enemy and ask him why he so hates imagination and its wonders because no one else is willing to do it. Is there something good buried deep within the black heart of the Dragon Lord? And are Rupert’s faith and imagination strong enough to find it and keep Far-Myst from becoming another Graysland? |
myst: The Quest for Myst Victoria Weaver-Morrow, 2006-11 Long ago, confusion seized the common folk as magickal creatures wreaked havoc upon their world by introducing magick the people did not understand. Kingdoms were torn apart as evil wizards took over. Now, the peaceable people with delicate magick are being hunted and drained of their powers. They must bring down the imposing evil forces if they hope to restore peace and calm in their land. The prince of the commoner's realm, Alexander of the North, thought he had escaped this darkness until the death of his mother made him a warrior-and a hero with a dark secret. Even worse, he's prone to making mistakes. Promising his sister, Victoria, that she would be the new princess of the West is his first mistake; the second is falling in love with Myst, a fair maid from a misty pool. But Myst is more than just a peasant and has power beyond those of the mighty wizard for whom she is an apprentice. When Myst sacrifices herself to save the kingdom from war, Alex gathers an incredible group of people to save her from the clutches of evil. But will Alex's powerful secret come back to haunt him? I was so taken in by Ms. Victoria's prose/storytelling abilities. I found in The Quest for Myst a riveting, captivating, banquet of a tale from an author with an imagination not of this world. To further the enjoyment, just when I thought it safe to sit back and relax in the read, she would drop these lines, these witty pearls of thinking author's humor. It is not often that I suggest books to others, but with The Quest for Myst you simply cannot go wrong. FW Bosworth, Author Never Play Leapfrog with a Unicorn |

myst: Buddy Boys Mike McAlary, 2015-09-29 A shocking true story of corruption and crime in the ranks of the NYPD in the worst police scandal since the revelations of Fred Serpico In the 1970s, New York City’s 77th Precinct was known as “the Alamo.” In Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights, Brooklyn—neighborhoods notorious for drugs and violent crime—some of the worst criminals wore police uniforms and carried badges. Henry Winter was a good cop when he first entered the infamous 77th station house that was already infamous as a home to the dregs of the NYPD. Before long, he and fellow officer Anthony Magno found themselves deeply entrenched in the Alamo’s culture of extortion, lies, corruption, and crime—and they were regularly supplementing their incomes by ripping off thieves, drug dealers, junkies, and honest citizens alike. But the gravy train couldn’t stay on the rails forever. Winter and Magno were caught and faced a devastating choice: They could betray their crooked friends and colleagues by helping investigators expose the rot that festered at the Alamo’s core—or spend the next several years behind bars. In Buddy Boys, Pulitzer Prize–winning investigative journalist Mike McAlary blows the doors off 1 of the worst scandals ever to taint New York’s uniformed guardians, the men and women sworn to protect and serve the populace. Blistering, shocking, and powerful, it’s a frightening look inside the NYPD and an eye-opening exploration of the daily temptations that can seduce a good cop over to the dark side. |

Breaking both law and tradition, Pomella undergoes three trials against the other candidates to prove her worthiness. As the trials unfold, Pomella navigates a deadly world of intolerance and betrayal, unaware that ruthless conspirators intend to make her suffer for having the audacity to seek to unravel the secrets of the Myst. myst: Ligeia Edgar Allan Poe, 2020-08-26 From time immemorial, men have trembled and withered before the power of the femme fatale. Ligeia is a story about a man, whose meeting with a strange, beautiful, and overly intellectual woman in an old city borders on the supernatural and even further into the realms of the unknown. Touching upon subjects like forbidden knowledge and bizarre beauty, Poe’s story serves as an example of what awaits men who are easily led astray and then lost in the labyrinthine vistas of female beauty. Famous movie adaptations include Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo (1958) and Roger Corman’s The Tomb of Ligeia (1964). Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an American poet, author, and literary critic. Most famous for his poetry, short stories, and tales of the supernatural, mysterious, and macabre, he is also regarded as the inventor of the detective genre and a contributor to the emergence of science fiction, dark romanticism, and weird fiction. His most famous works include The Raven (1945), The Black Cat (1943), and The Gold-Bug (1843). |

myst: Journey Into the Myst David Bennet, Alex Bennet, 2020-06-06 Part I shares the Bennets' extraordinary Journey into the Myst. As they write, What we are about to tell you would have been quite unbelievable to me before this journey began. It is not a story of the reality either of us has known for well over our 60 and 70 years of age, but rather, the reality of dreams and fairy tales. This is the true story of a sequence of events that happened at Mountain Quest Institute, situated in a high valley of the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. The story begins with a miracle, expanding into the capture and cataloging of thousands of pictures of electromagnetic spheres widely known as orbs. This joyous experience became an exploration into the unknown with the emergence of what the author's fondly call the Myst, the forming and shaping of non-random patterns such as human faces, angels and animals. As this phenomenon unfolds, you will discover how the Drs. Alex and David Bennet began to observe and interact with the Myst. Part II, Patterns in the Myst, brings Science into the Spiritual experience, bringing to bear what the Drs. Bennets have learned through their research and educational experiences in physics, neuroscience, human systems, change, knowledge management and human development. Embracing the paralogical, patterns in the Myst are observed, felt, interpreted, analyzed and compared in terms of their physical make-up, non-randomness, intelligent sources and potential implications. Along the way, the Bennets were provided amazing pictures reflecting the forming of the Myst. In Part III, The Mind and the Myst, the Bennets shift to introspection to explore the continuing impact of the Myst experience on the human psyche. |
