mind character and personality ellen g white: Ellen G. White A Psychobiography Steve Daily, 2020-12-16 This explosive work contains a great deal of highly documented material on the life and movement of Ellen G. White that Adventists in general, to say nothing of the public, will not know. The book is not a classic psychobiography, although history and psychology are the primary disciplines employed. It also contains a sprinkling of theology and personal reflection to make it a unique blend. The most striking evidence presented raises major questions about the prophet’s mental and moral health. It is a must read for anyone who truly wants to understand Seventh-Day Adventism and its prophetic founder. A devastating work. What Numbers and Rea started, your book will finish! —John Dart (1936-2019), longtime religion editor, Los Angeles Times I enjoyed the writing and the stories. The anecdotes you included enriched the content. Your writing was personal, and I think readers will feel that you are writing to them, and makes the book of increased value. There is the same question with Joseph Smith. Why do people stay in the face of such documentation? What are the forces that keep them tied to source documentation of fraud? —Dr. Robert Anderson, psychiatrist, author, Inside the Mind of Joseph Smith: Psychobiography and the Book of Mormon I found the material fascinating, a powerful polemic! —Ronald Numbers, William Coleman professor of History, University of Wisconsin-Madison, author, Prophetess of Health |

mind character and personality ellen g white: Ellen G White: Prophet of Destiny Rene Noorbergen, 2011-10-26 In April, 1906 Ellen G. White was granted a vision foreseeing the destruction of the city of San Francisco. Two days later, an earthquake struck, leveling the city. Once again, Ellen G. White had somehow seen into the future. Since girlhood, she had had more than 2,000 visions, revealing truths of religion, history, medicine and nutrition, often foreshadowing scientific discoveries yet to be made. Inspired by these visions and her sense of the presence of God, Ellen G. White worked throughout her life, first to help found the Seventh-day Adventist Church, then to spread its word around the world. She lived to see it become one of the major religious forces of our time; and during her lifetime, wrote more than fifty books which have been translated into one hundred languages and sold in the millions of copies. All of this she accomplished in the face of dire poverty, with no formal schooling beyond the third grade. Rene Noorbergen's bestseller is a full and fascinating portrait of a truly remarkable, yet strangely little-known woman. |

mind character and personality ellen g white: Ellen G. White Signs of the Times Articles, Book I of III Ellen Gould Harmon White, 2014-01 FOR SOME forty years, an article from the pen of Ellen White appeared in nearly every issue of the weekly magazine The Signs of the Times. The magazine was started in 1874 by her husband James in the city of Oakland, California. It began with a similar purpose for the West Coast that The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald magazine, published in Battle Creek, Michigan, had for Eastern North America. Over a period of time however, it became written more and more for the general public while the Review and Herald remained the general paper for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Over the forty years that Ellen White contributed to the magazine, some 2,000 of her articles appeared in its pages. During that time, several hundred of her articles in the Signs of the Times appeared later, or had appeared previously, in the Review and Herald. These duplicated articles, as well as some duplicated in the volumes of Testimonies for the Church and Conflict of the Ages Series, are not included in this present three-volume collection The messages in this present collection need no human praise or promotion for their inspired and inspiring thoughts speak for themselves of their divine origin. They cover a broad spectrum of subject: family life; the raising of children; education; spiritual life; missionary endeavors; church administration, and many others. May each reader of these words receive the blessings intended by the Lord through these articles of His servant messenger is the prayer of- The Publisher |

mind character and personality ellen g white: Evangelism Ellen G. White, 2021-04-11 In Evangelism, Ellen G. White presents a profound exploration of the principles and practices that underpin effective evangelistic outreach. Written in her characteristic clear and accessible style, this book weaves personal anecdotes, scriptural insights, and theological reflections to inspire readers to engage in the mission of spreading the Gospel. White articulates the urgent need for a heartfelt approach to evangelism, emphasizing the transformative power of personal testimony and the importance of community in nurturing faith. Set against the backdrop of the late 19th-century religious revival, her work reflects the growing emphasis on social responsibility and personal piety during this era. Ellen G. White, a co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, was a prolific author and a passionate advocate for health reform, education, and humanitarian work. Her life experiences as a religious leader and her strong commitment to scriptural authority deeply influenced her writings. Evangelism is born from her desire to equip believers with the tools necessary for sharing their faith, stemming from her own experiences of witnessing the transformative impact of spiritual outreach and community engagement. For readers seeking to deepen their understanding of evangelistic methods and their theological underpinnings, Evangelism serves as an essential resource. White's insights will inspire both seasoned ministers and laypeople alike to embrace their role in the mission of the Church, fostering a renewed commitment to living and sharing the Gospel within their communities. |
