middle chamber of king solomon's temple: The Archetypal Temple Jaime Paul Lamb, 2021-08-11 Abounding in unprecedented insights and observations, Jaime Paul Lamb's The Archetypal Temple and Other Writings on Masonic Esotericism is a compendium of essays highlighting Freemasonry's relationship to Western Esotericism, with the multivalence of the temple archetype as its central, unifying theme. As Lamb surveys Masonic ritual and symbolism from the perspectives of astrology, cosmology and occult philosophy, he situates Freemasonry as a living and evolving tradition. It is in this spirit that Lamb points to a Freemasonry that is applicable to the modern mind's quest for meaning, authenticity and, ultimately, a place in the cosmos. |

This incredibly detailed book reveals the hidden meanings behind occult signs and symbols from ancient times, found in what is termed stellar theology, and then carried over into modern religions. middle chamber of king solomon's temple: Alchemically Stoned - The Psychedelic Secret of Freemasonry P.D. Newman, 2017-06-21 P.D. Newman's bold and daring theory provides a radical interpretation of Masonic symbolism. In the tradition of Wasson, Hofmann and Ruck, in The Road to Eleusis: Unveiling the Secret of the Mysteries (1978), and Heinrich's Strange Fruit: Alchemy, Religion, and Magical Foods (1995), Newman suggests that practical psychoactive pharmacology, rather than philosophy, lies concealed in the root of some of our allegories and mysteries. Admitting to being more than a mere theoretician, Newman draws from his own personal experiences, and a wide range of sources, in presenting his theory in a logical manner, which merits consideration. - Arturo De Hoyos, 33* Grand Archivist and Grand Historian Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction |

middle chamber of king solomon's temple: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Freemasonry, 2nd Edition S. Brent Morris, Ph.D., 2013-02-21 Freemasonry is an ancient secret society shrouded in obscurity. Fascination with the mysteries of the Masons reached a fevered pitch after the release of Dan Brown’s novels Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code, and The Lost Symbol. But these novels and their related movies raised more questions than they answered. The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Freemasonry, Second Edition, fills readers in on the truths behind the mysteries. In it, readers get: - A fact-filled overview of the birth and beginnings of Freemasonry, including its relationship to the Knights Templar and Egypt. - Fascinating facts about famous Masons. - An explanation of the various Masonic organizations, such as the York and Scottish rites, and the Shriners. - A behind-the-scenes look at what really goes on in a Masonic lodge, including initiations. - A new walking tour of Washington, DC, pointing out the hidden Masonic symbols featured in The Lost Symbol. - Scripts for Masonic rituals, giving a flavor of the language used in such ceremonies. - A field guide to Masonic symbols and regalia, with photos and explanations of significance. - The history behind Masonic philanthropic efforts and youth groups. - A history of African-American Freemasonry and the role of women in Masonic organizations. |
middle chamber of king solomon's temple: Encyclopedia Of Freemasonry And Its Kindred Sciences, Volume 3: M-R Albert G. Mackey, Dr. Albert G. Mackey appears as author of this Encyclopedia of Freemasonry and its Kindred Sciences, which, being a library in inself, superseded most of the Masonic works which have been tolerated by the craft — chiefly because none better could be obtained. Here is a work which fulfils the hope which sustained the author through ten years' literary labor, that, under one cover he would furnish every Mason who might consult its pages the means of acquiring a knowledge of all matters connected with the science, the philosophy, and the history of his order. Up to the present time the modern literature of Freemasonry has been diffuse, lumbering, unreliable, and, out of all reasonable proportions. There is, in Mackey's Encyclopaedia of Masonry, well digested, well arranged, and confined within reasonable limits, all that a Mason can desire to find in a book exclusively devoted to the history, the arts, science, and literature of Masonry. This is volume three out of four and covering the letters M to R. |
middle chamber of king solomon's temple: The Secret Power of Masonic Symbols Robert Lomas, 2011-10-01 An illustrated guide to ancient Masonic symbols and how they have shaped our world throughout history. For more than five hundred years, the symbology of Freemasonry has fostered a secret stream of radical ideas running just beneath the surface of popular culture today. These ideas, illuminated by public symbols hidden in full view, have influenced and shaped the society we have today. Despite this ongoing record of inspiration, no illustrated guidebook to the basic ideas of Masonic Symbology has even been published and the story remains mysterious—until now. This authoritative guide reveals how this symbology has been the backdrop to key historical events in the history of humanity from ancient times and how, in more recent times, inspired leaders have harnessed the symbols’ power to bring about change in society. Renowned Freemasonry historian Dr. Robert Lomas takes you inside the Secret Order and shows you how Entered Apprentices first learn their craft, and how continual exposure to these mystical symbols can change the way you think. You’ll explore the six mysterious Tracing Boards that are at the heart of every Masonic Grand Lodge, ending with the final, most mystical symbol, known as “the Centre.” Let The Secret Power of Masonic Symbols be your personal guide and show you how these symbols have made their indelible mark on the past, and how they will continue to influence society in the future. |

middle chamber of king solomon's temple: The Royal Secret I. Edward Clark, 2017-07-11 A fascinating book on Symbolism and Astrology of Freemasonry first published in 1923. “Away back in 1887, when the city of Alpena was located in the heart of one of the lumber districts of Michigan, Hopper Lodge, U. D. (now No. 386), of that city was pleased to honor me with membership in due and ancient form. “In those days, or at least in that Lodge, there was no horseplay; and I was so impressed with the work that I resolved to master all the lectures, which I did. The part which interested me the most was the one which I could learn the least about. I would have sacrificed a five-dollar note to learn why Pythagoras sacrificed a hecatomb, and would have given as much to anyone who would explain the mystery surrounding the 47th Problem of Euclid, as depicted on the lecture chart. When inquiry failed me, I made diligent search and finally discovered the KEY OF THE HOUSE OF DAVID, through the knowledge of which I was enabled to penetrate the allegorical veil, just as Pythagoras did five hundred years before the Christian era. “On the night of my initiation I was told that Freemasonry was founded on the Bible, and all its secrets were hidden therein. In my research work I discovered that the true secrets of Freemasonry were written in the stars and the book of nature, and a knowledge of astronomy and astrology was necessary to lift the allegorical veil. Upon obtaining this knowledge I discovered that the Bible was founded upon the same law as Freemasonry, i.e., the stars and the book of nature.”—Author’s Foreword |

middle chamber of king solomon's temple: The Regius Poem Or Halliwell Manuscript James Halliwell, 2016-01-11 The Regius Poem, also known as the Halliwell Manuscript, is a long series of rhyming couplets that make up what is thought to be the earliest of the Old Charges of Masonry. It was discovered in the British Museum by James O. Halliwell in 1838. While sometimes thought to have been written during the reign of King Athelstan (924-940 A.D.), the document actually dates to the late 14th century. Whether it is a derivative work based on a separate manuscript from Athelstan's time is unknown. However, the Regius Poem is the cornerstone of the Legend of York, which is important in Masonry even today. This manuscript also outlines how Masons should act toward each other and toward the civil magistrate. It also talks about the history and philosophy of the order of Masons. Any Mason interested in the history of the Art should read this document and see how it compares to the various rules their grand lodges lay out for government of a lodge. |

middle chamber of king solomon's temple: The Mysteries of Free Masonry William Morgan, 2019-11-19 In The Mysteries of Free Masonry, William Morgan delves into the esoteric traditions and intricate rituals that define Freemasonry, revealing the hidden knowledge and symbolism that have long intrigued both initiates and outsiders. Written in a direct yet evocative style, the book articulates the philosophical underpinnings of Masonic beliefs while critiquing the secretive nature that has often surrounded the organization. This work emerged in the context of 19th-century America, a time when Enlightenment ideals clashed with emerging populist sentiments, making it a pivotal examination of the interplay between secrecy and social order. William Morgan, a prominent figure in early American Masonic history, was deeply influenced by his own controversial experiences within the fraternity. Disillusioned by the perceived injustices and exclusivity of Masonic practices, Morgan's decision to expose the inner workings of the organization stemmed from a personal quest for truth and transparency. His subsequent disappearance under suspicious circumstances further solidified his status as a martyr for those advocating for openness in secret societies. This compelling book is a must-read for anyone interested in Freemasonry, American history, or the dynamics of secret societies. Morgan'Äôs incisive observations invite readers to question the balance between confidentiality and the ethical implications of exclusion, making it an essential addition to the library of both scholars and general readers alike. |
