kt tape for pttd: Nerve and Vascular Injuries in Sports Medicine Venu Akuthota, Stanley A. Herring, 2009-05-28 The field of sports medicine covers a tremendous territory. Athletes present to their physician with everything from sprained ankles to bowel problems while running. Many of the classic textbooks in sports medicine cover many of these issues in a cursory way. Two major organ systems that account for many injuries in athletes are the nervous system and the vascular system. Because of their widespread, diffuse nature, athletes can present with myriad signs and symptoms related to these systems. Drs. Akuthota and Herring have done an outstanding job in their textbook Nerve and Vascular Injuries in Sports Medicine to produce a commonsense, yet thorough, approach to potential nerve and vascular injuries in athletes. The text provides any physician or clinician who evaluates and treats athletes with a clear path to an appropriate history, physical examination, imaging studies, and electrophysiologic and vascular examinations of any athlete with potential nerve or vascular injuries. The first third of the book describes the appropriate evaluation of athletes with nerve and vascular symptoms and signs. Emphasis is placed on kinetic chain contributions to nerve and vascular injuries to address not only the cause of the injury but possible associated, contributing biomechanical deficiencies. The last two-thirds of the book cover regional specific nerve and vascular injuries with special attention to stingers, thoracic outlet syndrome, lumbar radiculopathy, and compartment syndromes.
kt tape for pttd: Language Contact and Lexical Enrichment in Israeli Hebrew Ghil'ad Zuckermann, 2004-01-17 Israeli Hebrew is a spoken language, 'reinvented' over the course of the twentieth century. It has responded to the social demands of the newly emerging state, as well as to escalating globalization, with a vigorously developing lexicon, enriched by contact with multiple foreign languages. In this detailed and rigorous study, the author provides a principled classification of neologisms, their semantic fields and the roles of source languages, along with a sociolinguistic study of purists' and ordinary native speakers' attitudes towards lexical enrichment. His analysis of the tension between linguistic creativity and the preservation of a distinct langauge identity takes the discussion beyond the case of Israeli Hebrew, through innovative comparisons with other languages. At the beginning of the third millennium, our world is characterized by worldwide communication and the vast distribution of technological and talknological devices. The mobility of the word respects no borders and the extent of that mobility may not be paralleled even in future (less heterogeneous) generations. The study of the modes and dynamics of language contact could hardly be more timely.

kt tape for pttd: The Variscan Orogeny K. Schulmann, J.R. Martínez Catalán, J.M. Lardeaux, V. Janousek, G. Oggiano , 2014-07-28 This volume summarizes the state of the art of Variscan geology from Iberia to the Bohemian Massif. The European Variscan belt consists of two orogens: the older, northern and the younger, southern. The northern Variscan realm was dominated by Late Devonian–Carboniferous rifting, subduction and collisional events as defined by sedimentary records, crustal growth, recycling of continental crust and large-scale deformations. In contrast, the southern European crust was reworked by major Late Carboniferous collision followed by Permian wrenching. The Late Carboniferous–Permian orogeny overprinted the previously accreted system in the north, but with much lower intensity, resulting in magmatic recycling and extensional tectonics. These two main orogenic cycles do not reflect episodic evolution of a single orogenic system but a complete change in orientation of stress field, thermal regime, degree of reworking and recycling of European crust, reflecting a major switch in plate configurations at the Early–Late Carboniferous boundary.
