That's why the lilaguide has become the essential item on every new parent's checklist. Most parents wish their baby came with some sort of user-friendly handbook. Luckily, babies come with a lot of excellent word-of-mouth advice from other parents and friends. In fact, we found that nearly every parent out there has a great piece of child-rearing advice, such as which baby store is the most helpful or which restaurant tolerates strained carrots on the floor. Someone, we thought, should write this stuff down. And that's how, please pardon the pun, the lilaguide was born. Our guides are literally written by parents for parents, through thousands of volunteer surveys. It's what happens when someone does write all the parent wisdom down, organizes it, calculates it, and presents it in an easy-to-use format. |

kohls austell: Mineral Reference Manual Nickel, Nichols, 2012-12-06 of a Roman numeral, an alphabetic character and an Arabic numeral. This designation constitutes the classification symbol based on the system in Mineralogische Tabellen by Hugo Strunz (a summary is shown in Appendix A). The Roman numeral and alphabetical character divide the minerals into broad groups based mainly on chemistry, with the silicate subdivision based on silicate polymerization. The Arabic numeral specifies the group to which a particular mineral belongs; a group is defined mainly on the basis of crystallographic similarities, but minerals with similar chemical compositions are sometimes included in the group even though they do not exhibit crystallographic affinities with other members of the class. The next entry gives the name of the author of the mineral and the date of its introduction into the literature. In some cases where a mineral has been redescribed or the name has been changed from the original, this entry will reflect the person and time when this was done. This is followed by a reference to what we have tried to make the latest, or most authoritative, literature report. We have attempted to include at least one reference for each species. If there is a second reference following the first, it will be a reference to the determination of the crystal structure. The abbreviations used in the references are given in Appendix B. The final entry, when present, gives the names of similar or related minerals and is preceded by the deSignation See also . |

The choice of the subject was made because of an apparent similari ty - stressed already at earlier meetings - of four classes of astrophy sical jet sources: Active Galactic Nuclei, Young Stellar Objects, Binary Neutron Stars and Binary White Dwarfs. They share important properties such as their morphology, high variability and large veloci ty gradients as well as - with some inference - their broad spectrum, hypersonic outflow and core/lobe power ratio. Despite this apparent similarity of the four source classes, quite different models have been put forward for their description: (i) The central engine of active galactic nuclei has been generally thought to be a black hole, in contrast to the central engine of young stellar objects and cometary nebulae which apparently is a pre-T-Tauri star, some six orders of magnitude less compact, and to the central engine of planetary nebulae which mayor may not be a binary white dwarf. (ii) The elongated lobes, or flow patterns, have been often interpreted as highly directional stellar wind outflows whereas in a few well mapped cases, the elongated flow appears to be 'pumped up' through a much narrower channel, or jet, both in the extragalactic and stellar sources. |

But during the first half century of motion pictures very few Americans would have thought to call an American movie art. Up through the 1950s, American movies were regarded as a form of popular, even lower-class, entertainment. By the 1960s and 1970s, however, viewers were regularly judging Hollywood films by artistic criteria previously applied only to high art forms. In Hollywood Highbrow, Shyon Baumann for the first time tells how social and cultural forces radically changed the public's perceptions of American movies just as those forces were radically changing the movies themselves.
