john w schaum note speller book 1: "Pop" Piano Course, Book 1 John W. Schaum, The basic object of Popular-Piano Study is to convert vocal music into piano-solo style. It is a fascinating study that motivates keyboard harmony and develops creativeness. The POP course focuses on harmonizing melodies and suggesting ways of embellishing and varying songs. In designing the course, no attempt has been made to explain all the rudiments of music. It is expected that the pupil will derive this from a parallel standard beginner's book such as the SCHAUM ADULT COURSE BOOK I. Also, the reading elemment is expected to be gained from an outside source, such as the SCHAUM NOTE SPELLER.

john w schaum note speller book 1: Rhythm Speller John W. Schaum, The John W. Schaum RHYTHM SPELLER makes no attempt to teach the feeling of rhythm. That would require the guidance of a competent teacher. The RHYTHM SPELLER does aim to present an understanding of note and rest values so that the student will be able to comprehend the raw materials that combine to make rhythm: the fractional values of notes, rests, beats, measures, etc. The Schaum Theory Lessons and Note Spellers have stressed pitch and staff recognition primarily and delayed fractional problems to conform with the pupil's mental readiness. For that reason, this detailed and comprehensive rhythmic study is presented as a follow-on to these first writing books. A Teacher's Answer Key is provided in the back.

john w schaum note speller book 1: Czerny-Schaum, Book One Carl Czerny, John W. Schaum, 1999-12-14 Carl Czerny was a prolific composer who wrote approximately 1,000 published works. As a pupil of Beethoven and the teacher of Franz Liszt, he was a transmitter of ideas from one great master to another. His many collections of exercises and studies range from the easy and progressive to the virtuoso. The Czerny-Schaum edition is based on selections from Op. 599, Op. 139, Op. 821, Op. 718, Op. 636, and Op. 261. The objective is to bring together, in condensed form, excerpts that stress many varieties of technical problems. Special emphasis is placed on equal development of both hands. The technical points are equally divided between the right and the left hands. The exercises are purposely left brief, thereby avoiding stiffness and tension. Using the Czerny-Schaum exercises will improve piano technic when used in conjunction with a program of balanced repertoire.
