islam and modern science by zakir naik: The Qur'an and Modern Science Zakir Abdul Karim Naik, 2021-02-08 Ever since the dawn of human life on this planet, Man has always tried to understand Nature, his own place in the scheme of Creation and the purpose of Life itself. In this quest for Truth, spanning many centuries and diverse civilizations, organized religion has shaped human life and, to a large extent, has determined the course of history. While some religions have been based on written text, claimed by their followers to be divinely inspired, others have relied solely on human experience. Al-Qur'an, the main source of the Islamic faith, is a book believed by its followers, the Muslims, to be completely of Divine origin. Muslims also believe that it contains guidance for all humankind. Since the message of the Qur'an is believed to be for all times, it should be relevant to every age. But does the Qur'an pass this test? In this booklet, I intend to give an objective analysis of the Muslim belief regarding the Divine origin of the Qur'an, particularly in the light of established scientific discoveries. There was a time, in the history of world civilization, when 'miracles', or what were perceived to be miracles, took precedence over human reason and logic. Of course, the normal defination of 'miracle' is simply, anything that takes place out of the normal. course of life and for which humankind has no explanation. However, we must be careful before accepting something as a miracle. In 1993, 'The Times of India', Mumbai, reported that 'a saint' by the name 'Baba Pilot' claimed to have stayed continuously submerged under water in a tank for three consecutive days and nights. However, when reporters wanted to examine the bottom of the tank of water in which he claimed to have performed his 'miraculous feat', he refused to let them do so. He argued by asking as to how one could examine the womb of a mother that gives birth to a child. Obviously the 'saint' had something to conceal! His claim was a gimmick simply to gain publicity. Surely, no modern person with even the slightest inkling towards rational thinking would accept such a 'miracle'. If such false miracles are the tests of divinity, then we would have to accept all world famous magicians known for their ingenious magical tricks and illusions, as genuine God-men! A book, claiming to be of Divine origin, is in effect, claiming to be a miracle. Such a claim should be easily verifiable in any age, according to the standards of that age. Muslims believe, that the Qur'an is the last and final revelation of God, the miracle of miracles, revealed as a mercy to mankind. Let us therefore investigate the veracity of this belief. |

islam and modern science by zakir naik: Islam and Evolution Shoaib Ahmed Malik, 2021-05-03 This book attempts to equip the reader with a holistic and accessible account of Islam and evolution. It guides the reader through the different variables that have played a part in the ongoing dialogue between Muslim creationists and evolutionists. This work views the discussion through the lens of al-Ghazālī (1058-1111), a widely-known and well-respected Islamic intellectual from the medieval period. By understanding al-Ghazālī as an Ash’arite theologian, a particular strand of Sunni theology, his metaphysical and hermeneutic ideas are taken to explore if and how much Neo-Darwinian evolution can be accepted. It is shown that his ideas can be used to reach an alignment between Islam and Neo-Darwinian evolution. This book offers a detailed examination that seeks to offer clarity if not agreement in the midst of an intense intellectual conflict and polarity amongst Muslims. As such, it will be of great interest to scholars of Science and Religion, Theology, Philosophy of Religion, Islamic Studies, and Religious Studies more generally. *Winner of the International Society for Science & Religion (ISSR) book prize 2022 (academic category)* |

islam and modern science by zakir naik: Islam and Christianity Muhammed A. Asadi, 2001 The “industry” of manufacturing the “word of God” was in vogue in ancient times when religion was the most powerful institution in society. The elite, whenever they wanted to convince people of something to further their economic gain, used religion. This not only distorted and ruined the genuine “words of God,” it created mischief and corruption in society, which ultimately got blamed on religion. It was not religion but pseudo-religion and constructed books, like books in the Bible, which got institutionalized and caused great harm and injustice to humanity. The Koran, coming to reform such a world, presented itself as a criterion to distinguish true from false (Koran 2:185), based on the principles of science and rationality. It termed nature as being the reflection of God’s will (Sunna in Arabic), and made the careful analysis of nature and contemplation based on it, a duty incumbent upon every believer (Koran 3:190-195). The history of modern science began with the Koran. Muslims, inspired by the Koran, did pioneering, foundation building work in all fields of modern science, thus sparking the European Renaissance. |

In this booklet, you will learn some of Allah's many signs of nature and life as shared in the miraculous book, The Quran. Ghiasuddin Ahmed Khan was an engineer by trade and a student of Islam by heart. islam and modern science by zakir naik: The Glorious Quran and Science Faisal Ahmad Qureshi, 2021-05-06 Verses of the Quran are called Ayats. Quranic Ayats are proofs, miracles, and signs of Allah (swt) (The God). In the Quran, not only are the verses Ayats, but Allah says phenomenon in Nature, Earth and the Universe, fundamentally all things in His Creation, are also Ayats. Also, in the Quran, Allah (swt) says to reflect on the Ayats in both the Quranic verses as well as on Creation in order to believe in Him and His Messenger and follow the Divine Laws. The Quran itself has attributes of many things. Some of them are mentioned as The Book of Enlightenment, Criterion, Light, Reminder, Admonishment, Clear Evidence, Wise, Invincible, Word of the Honorable Messenger (Gabriel (as)), Guidance, Book of Revelation, Recitation. Since in the Quran it refers to natural phenomena in the Heavens and Earth as Ayats as well, and upon reflecting on them, we can see connections and descriptions of scientific facts and theories that exist therein. These in themselves are miraculous given the scientific knowledge known at the time and place of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), The Chosen One, when receiving Revelation. In this book, we can speculate the scientific reality of certain Ayats of the Quran. This includes scientific fields of physics, astrophysics, biology, quantum mechanics, mathematics, and in some cases, string theory. As a Muslim, the Quran is the source of truth for the reality of all things. We will see how certain Ayats match current scientific knowledge, both factual and theoretical, but also in some cases, where there are differences from the theoretical side of science. But in these cases, as we have multiple theories of science, where we hold some to be more possible actualities than others, the Quranic Ayats still adhere to one of them that we consider to be a possibility. Theories are in themselves, speculations. English Translation of Quran done by Talal Itani |
islam and modern science by zakir naik: The Scientific Muslim Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, 2021 Is Science a tool to better understand the Qur an? A new book, The Scientific Muslim, says so. There are many negative perceptions and stereotypes regarding science and Islam. This book dispels these misconceptions and emphasizes that the Qur an places immense emphasis on scientific knowledge. Majority of Muslims read the Qur'an without understanding it, as Arabic is not their mother tongue. For centuries, they have been following (blindly) what is being passed on to them by their parents, peers and religious guides, without applying their minds or knowledge to analyse the message. This is against the teachings of Allah who asks believers not to behave like the deaf and dumb, but to judge everything according to logic and reason (Al-Furqan 25:73). |

islam and modern science by zakir naik: Islam Is Your Birthright , 2003 Each person is born in a religious environment that is not of his/her own choice. From the very beginning of human existence in this world, they are assigned the religion of their family or the ideology of the state. By the time individuals reach their teens they usually accept the beliefs of their parents or that of their particular society. However, when some people mature and are exposed to other beliefs and ideologies, they begin to question the validity of their own beliefs. Seekers of truth often reach a point of confusion upon realizing that believers of every religion, sect, ideology and philosophy all claim to have the one and only correct religion or ideology. There are only three possibilities. They are either all correct; all wrong or only one is correct and the rest are wrong. |
islam and modern science by zakir naik: Modern Science in the Bible Ben Hobrink, 2011-02-08 Modern Science in the Bible shows that the Bible is not out-of-date, but that it was, in fact, thousands of years ahead of science when it was written. Used as a reference tool or merely to underline the trustworthiness of the Bible, this book succinctly demonstrates hard scientific facts from the Bible that modern science has only recently discovered. Ben Hobrink, although a biologist, writes in layman’s terms to describe current scientific debates and shows where scientific theories or conclusions differ from the Bible and offers explanations of the alleged differences. In Modern Science in the Bible, Hobrink not only defends the Bible; he lets others share his astonishment about the relevance of biblical rules. The book underlines the reliability of the Bible in the field of science and presents hard scientific facts that are structured around themes such as combating epidemics, hygiene, nutrition, and evolution. |

islam and modern science by zakir naik: Crucifixion or Cruci-Fiction Ahmed Deedat, 1984 In any event, if there is any division between a Muslim and a Christian on the grounds of dogma, belief, ethics or morality, then the cause of such conflict could be traced to an utterance of Paul found in his books of Corinthians, Phillipians, Galatians, Thessolanians, etc., in the Bible. As against the teaching of the Master (Jesus) that salvation only comes through keeping of the commandments (Mathew 19:16-17), Paul nails the law and the commandments to the cross (Colossians 2:14) and claims that salvation can only be obtained through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ:- If Christ be not risen from the dead, then our preaching is vain, and your faith is also vain. islam and modern science by zakir naik: Scientific and Political Freedom in Islam Uriya Shavit, 2017-02-24 This book critically explores the modernist-apologetic Islamic approach to the relation between revelation and science and politics which, for over a century, has been a central part of Arab discourses on the future of Muslim societies. The main thesis of the book is that the modernist-apologetic approach has great potential to be a force for liberalization, but also possesses inherent limitations that render its theory on the relation between revelation and freedom self-contradictory. |

Masud Taj, Saheed Ahmed Rufai, Enes Karić, Muhammad Saekul Mujahidin, 2023-07-05 In this issue, you will find three peer-reviewed articles and two forum essays. Adrien A. P. Chauvet’s “Cosmographical readings of the Qurʾan” is a trained physicist’s probing, multidisciplinary inquiry about a topic of great interest to the recent generations of Muslims about the compatibility of Islam and science, and about the obvious exuberance Muslims feel when some modern discoveries point to the Qurʾanic truth. As a trained physicist, he wonders whether and how we can be sure that the scientific paradigms endorsed today will endure, and therefore, more pertinently, “how can the text stay scientifically relevant across the ages, while science itself is evolving?” It thus advances the scholarship on the scriptures’ relevance to past and present scientific paradigms, reviewing multiple ancient cosmographical paradigms (Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Hebraic, Greek, Christian, Zoroastrian and Manichean) as well as modern ones, while being grounded in Islamic theology and philosophy of science. It manages to advance a novel thesis in the growing field of Islam and science, advocating for a multiplicity of correspondences between both past and modern scientific paradigms, even if these paradigms conflict with one another. |
