is neely fuller still alive: Living in the Long Emergency James Howard Kunstler, 2020-03-03 Forget the speculation of pundits and media personalities. For anyone asking Now what? the answer is out there. You just have to know where to look. In his 2005 book, The Long Emergency, James Howard Kunstler described the global predicaments that would pitch the USA into political and economic turmoil in the 21st century—the end of affordable oil, climate irregularities, and flagging economic growth, to name a few. Now, he returns with a book that takes an up-close-and-personal approach to how real people are living now—surviving The Long Emergency as it happens. Through his popular blog, Clusterf*ck Nation, Kunstler has had the opportunity to connect with people from across the country. They've shared their stories with him—sometimes over years of correspondence—and in Living in the Long Emergency: Global Crisis, the Failure of the Futurists, and the Early Adapters Who Are Showing Us the Way Forward, he shares them with us, offering an eye-opening and unprecedented look at what's really going on out there in the US—and beyond. Kunstler also delves deep into his past predictions, comparing and contrastingt hem with the way things have unfolded with unflinching honesty. Further, he turns an eye to what's ahead, laying out the strategies that will help all of us as we navigate this new world. With personal accounts from a Vermont baker, homesteaders, a building contractor in the Baltimore ghetto, a white nationalist, and many more, Living in the Long Emergency is a unique and timely exploration of how the lives of everyday Americans are being transformed, for better and for worse, and what these stories tell us both about the future and about human perseverance. |

is neely fuller still alive: How to Fight Racism Jemar Tisby, 2021-01-05 Winner of the 2022 ECPA Christian Book Award for Faith & Culture How do we effectively confront racial injustice? We need to move beyond talking about racism and start equipping ourselves to fight against it. In this follow-up to the New York Times Bestseller the Color of Compromise, Jemar Tisby offers an array of actionable items to confront racism. How to Fight Racism introduces a simple framework—the A.R.C. Of Racial Justice—that teaches readers to consistently interrogate their own actions and maintain a consistent posture of anti-racist behavior. The A.R.C. Of Racial Justice is a clear model for how to think about race in productive ways: Awareness: educate yourself by studying history, exploring your personal narrative, and grasping what God says about the dignity of the human person. Relationships: understand the spiritual dimension of race relations and how authentic connections make reconciliation real and motivate you to act. Commitment: consistently fight systemic racism and work for racial justice by orienting your life to it. Tisby offers practical tools for following this model and suggests that by applying these principles, we can help dismantle a social hierarchy long stratified by skin color. He encourages rejection passivity and active participation in the struggle for human dignity. There is hope for transforming our nation and the world, and you can be part of the solution. |

is neely fuller still alive: The Fairness Doctrine and the Media Steven J. Simmons, 2023-11-15 The Fairness Doctrine and the Media examines the complex history and ongoing debates surrounding the Federal Communications Commission's fairness doctrine, a regulation designed to ensure that broadcast media provide balanced and diverse viewpoints on controversial issues of public importance. The doctrine, which arose in the context of the rise of radio and television, was grounded in the belief that media outlets, with their amplified voices, held a responsibility to ensure that the public could hear all sides of important issues. This book delves into the legal and practical implications of the fairness doctrine, offering a historical narrative of its development, its challenges, and its eventual decline. The author critically explores the doctrine’s evolution, including its inconsistencies, potential for misuse, and the dangers of government overreach, while also offering thoughtful proposals for reform. Through a detailed analysis, the book provides an insightful examination for a wide range of audiences, including students, legal professionals, broadcasters, and members of the general public interested in media regulation and freedom of speech. The work is an invaluable resource for those seeking a nuanced understanding of how government regulation intersects with media practices, and it critically assesses the role of the fairness doctrine in shaping media content. By exposing both the strengths and shortcomings of this regulatory effort, the book encourages readers to reexamine long-held assumptions about the balance between government intervention and press freedom, making it a vital text for those engaged in the ongoing debate about the future of media regulation in the United States. Seventy-five years on, Mapping the Field presents a detailed account of education theory and research, policy, and practice through the lens of key articles published in the journal over this timespan. Volume II opens with Part I, a collection of articles examining teachers’ job (dis/) satisfaction and stress, and the gendered composition of the teaching workforce. Articles in Part II trace a shift in academic focus from schools seen as families/communities, to the parent-school relationship. The concepts of inclusion and equality—and strategies for their fulfilment in education—are interrogated in Part III. The volume concludes with Part IV, in which diverse identities in the education field are represented. Curated and introduced by the editors, the articles included in both volumes of Mapping the Field represent a careful selection from the work of scholars whose ideas have been, and continue to be, influential in the field of education. Overall, this major text covers a wide range of topics and offers original insights into educational policy, provision, processes, and practice from around the world. |

is neely fuller still alive: Black British History Hakim Adi, 2019-03-15 For over 1500 years before the Empire Windrush docked on British shores, people of African descent have played a significant and far-ranging role in the country’s history, from the African soldiers on Hadrian’s Wall to the Black British intellectuals who made London a hub of radical, Pan-African ideas. But while there has been a growing interest in this history, there has been little recognition of the sheer breadth and diversity of the Black British experience, until now. This collection combines the latest work from both established and emerging scholars of Black British history. It spans the centuries from the first Black Britons to the latest African migrants, covering everything from Africans in Tudor England to the movement for reparations, and the never ending struggles against racism in between. An invaluable resource for both future scholarship and those looking for a useful introduction to Black British history, Black British History: New Perspectives has the potential to transform our understanding of Britain, and of its place in the world. |

is neely fuller still alive: Don't Rhyme For The Sake of Riddlin' Russell Myrie, 2009-06-18 Public Enemy are one of the greatest hip-hop acts of all time. Exploding out of Long Island, New York in the early 1980s, their firebrand lyrical assault, the Bomb Squad's innovative production techniques, and their unmistakeable live performances gave them a formidable reputation. They terrified the establishment, and have continued to blaze a trail over a twenty year period up until the present day. Today, they are more autonomous and as determined as ever, still touring and finding more ingenious ways of distributing their music. Russell Myrie has had unprecedented access to the group, conducting extensive interviews with Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Terminator X, Professor Griff, the Shocklee brothers, and many others who form part of their legacy. He tells the stories behind the making of seminal albums such as their debut Yo! Bum Rush the Show, the breakthrough It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back, and multi-million selling Fear of a Black Planet. He tackles Professor Griff's alleged anti-semitic remarks which caused massive controversy in the late eighties, the complexities of the group's relationship with the Nation of Islam, their huge crossover appeal with the alternative audience in the early nineties, and the strange circumstances of Flavor Flav's re-emergence as a reality TV star since the turn of the millennium. Urgent, incisive and definitive, Don't Rhyme for the Sake of Riddlin' is the ultimate guide to the group that tells it like it is, and insists that hip-hop is a lethal weapon for the social and politically conscious. Russell Myrie shows how, in a time of rampant profligacy and meaningless posturing in hip-hop, their diatribes still cut to the heart of the American dream, and they are as important and necessary as ever. |

Do you know how to find the answers to questions like these? Knowledge of Self is the result of a process of self-discovery, but few of us know where to begin when we're ready to start looking deeper. Although self-actualization is the highest of all human needs, it is said that only 5% of people ever attain this goal. In the culture of the Nation of Gods and Earths, commonly known as the Five Percent, students are instructed that they must first learn themselves, then their worlds, and then what they must do in order to transform their world for the better. This often intense process has produced thousands of revolutionary thinkers in otherwise desperate environments, where poverty and hopelessness dominate. Until now, few mainstream publications have captured the brilliant yet practical perspectives of these luminary men and women. Knowledge of Self: A Collection of Writings on the Science of Everything in Life presents the thoughts of Five Percenters, both young and old, male and female, from all over the globe, in their own words. Through essays, poems, and even how-to articles, this anthology presents readers with an accurate portrait of what the Five Percent study and teach, as well as sound direction on how to answer timeless questions like: Who am I, and why am I here? Why is there so much injustice in the world, and what can be done about it? Who is God and where on Earth is he? How do I improve myself without losing myself? Why are people of color in the situations they're in? What can we do about the global problems of racism and poverty? |

is neely fuller still alive: Black, Quare, and Then to Where jennifer susanne leath, 2023-10-20 In Black, Quare, and Then to Where jennifer susanne leath explores the relationship between Afrodiasporic theories of justice and Black sexual ethics through a womanist engagement with Maât the ancient Egyptian deity of justice and truth. Maât took into account the historical and cultural context of each human’s life, thus encompassing nuances of politics, race, gender, and sexuality. Arguing that Maât should serve as a foundation for reconfiguring Black sexual ethics, leath applies ancient Egyptian moral codes to quare ethics of the erotic, expanding what relationships and democratic practices might look like from a contemporary Maâtian perspective. She also draws on Pan-Africanism and examines the work of Alice Walker, E. Patrick Johnson, Cheikh Anta Diop, Sylvia Wynter, Sun Ra, and others. She shows that together these thinkers and traditions inform and expand the possibilities of Maâtian justice with respect to Black sexual experiences. As a moral force, leath contends, Maât opens new possibilities for mapping ethical frameworks to understand, redefine, and imagine justices in the United States. |

is neely fuller still alive: Transformative Schooling Vajra M. Watson, 2018-05-11 Discussions of achievement gaps are commonplace in education reform, but they are rarely interrogated as a symptom of white supremacy. As an act of disruption, award-winning scholar Vajra Watson pierces through the rhetoric and provides a provocative analysis of the ways schools can become more racially inclusive. Her research is grounded in Oakland where longitudinal data demonstrated that Black families were sending their children to school, but the ideals of an oasis of learning were being met with the realities of racism, low expectations, and marginalization. As a response to this intergenerational crisis of miseducation, in 2010, the school district joined forces with community organizers, religious leaders, neighborhood elders, teachers, parents, and students to address institutionalized racism. Seven years later, Watson shares findings from her investigation into the school district’s journey towards justice. What she creates is a wholly original work, filled with penetrating portraits that illuminate the intense and intimate complexities of working towards racial equity in education. As a formidable case study, this research scrutinizes how to reconfigure organizational ecosystems as spaces that humanize, heal, and harmonize. Emerging from her scholarship is a bold, timely, and hopeful vision that paves the way for transformative schooling. |

CRT has gained traction within the educational research sphere, and this book extends and applies this framework to chronicle the paths of mathematics educators who advance and use CRT. This edited collection brings together scholarship that addresses the racial challenges thrusted upon Black learners and the gatekeeping nature of the discipline of mathematics. Across the ten chapters, scholars expand the uses of CRT in mathematics education and share insights with stakeholders regarding the racialized experiences of mathematics students and educators. Collectively, the volume explains how researchers, practitioners, and policymakers can use CRT to examine issues of race, racism, and other forms of oppression in mathematics education for Black children and adults. |

It is a must read for every person seeking a better grasp of the historically interlocked elements of race, racism, religion, theology, authentic Christianity, and racial identity development, especially as it relates to America and its influence. is neely fuller still alive: Foundational Black Americans And The Need For Our People To Codify D. MORROW Jr., 2025-04-07 For too long, the system of racism and white supremacy has worked to oppress, exploit, and devalue foundational Black Americans, but the time for standing down is over. Strength, unity, and codification are the keys to survival and success. When we move as one, we create a shield that no system can break. This book is more than just words—it’s a call to action, a wake-up call, and a blueprint for empowerment. It challenges the forces working against us and encourages Black men and women to stay strong, think strategically, and protect one another at all costs. D. Morrow Jr. knows this struggle. He was raised on the Southside of Chicago, he grew up without a father figure and found one in the streets. At just ten years old, he was drawn into a gang, searching for guidance and belonging. He spent years moving between homes and juvenile detention centers, never fully understanding why his life was unfolding the way it was, but with time came clarity—every hardship, every setback, and every challenge was preparing him for something greater. Today, he stands as a testament to strength, proving that the past does not define a person; it shapes them. Through honesty and deep passion, D. Morrow Jr. shares his journey and his vision for a future where his people rise above oppression. This book is for those who refuse to be broken, for those ready to claim their power, and for those committed to building something greater for the next generation. If you’re ready to take control of your destiny and break free from the chains of the system, this book is for you. |
