how to scan on htc one: Dry Beans and Pulses Muhammad Siddiq, Mark A. Uebersax, 2012-08-29 The common beans and pulses are diverse food resources of high nutritional value (protein, energy, fiber and vitamins and minerals) with broad social acceptance. These legume crops demonstrate global adaptability, genotypic and phenotypic diversity, and multiple means of preparation and dietary use. Beans and pulses are produced in regions as diverse as Latin America, Africa, Asia, and North America, and on a scale similar to some other crops, such as wheat, corn, rice and soybeans. Numerous factors influence utilization, including bean type and cultivar selection, cropping environment and systems, storage conditions and handling infrastructure, processing and final product preparation. Nutrient content and bio-availability are dramatically influenced by these conditions. In recent years, beans and pulses have been cited for imparting specific positive health potentiating responses, such as hypocholesteremic response, mitigation of diabetes and colonic cancer, and weight control. Enhanced dry bean utilization focused on improved dietary health is an opportunity within both subsistent and developed populations. This book provides a contemporary source of information that brings together current knowledge and practices in the value chain of beans/pulses production, processing, and nutrition. It provides in-depth coverage of a wide variety of pertinent topics including: breeding, postharvest technologies, composition, processing technologies, food safety, quality, nutrition, and significance in human health. An experienced team of over 25 contributors from North America, Asia, and Africa has written 15 chapters, divided into three sections: Overview, production and postharvest technologies of beans and pulses Composition, value-added processing and quality Culinology, nutrition, and significance in human health Contributors come from a field of diverse disciplines, including crop sciences, food science and technology, food biochemistry, food engineering, nutritional sciences, and culinology. how to scan on htc one: Steroid Hormone Action and Cancer K. Menon, 2012-12-06 This volume is an outgrowth of a symposium held at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, October 27-29, 1975. This symposium was organized to bring together basic scientists and clinicians for the purpose of exchanging new ideas and the latest information in the area of Steroid Hormone Action and Cancer. The design of the symposium included both formal plenary sessions and informal roundtable discussion groups, the chapters of this volume being drawn primarily from these proceedings. During the last quarter of a century considerable progress has been made toward understanding the molecular mechanisms in volved in steroid hormone action. It now appears that the mechan sim of action of the four major classes of steroid hormones is qualitatively similar. Research during the past decade has demonstrated steroid hormone receptors in a variety of normal and neoplastic tissues. Receptor-containing neoplasms have been shown to be hormone-dependent and undergo regression when treated with hormone antagonists. Natural and synthetic steroids also have been employed for many years to successfully treat various types of cancer, for example: estrogens, androgens and progestagens for breast cancer; estrogens and progestagens for prostatic carcinoma; progestagens for endometrial carcinoma; and corticoids for leu kemias. All of these neoplasms have now been found to possess receptors for the steroids empirically used in their treatment. |

how to scan on htc one: Machine Learning for Indoor Localization and Navigation Saideep Tiku, Sudeep Pasricha, 2023-06-29 While GPS is the de-facto solution for outdoor positioning with a clear sky view, there is no prevailing technology for GPS-deprived areas, including dense city centers, urban canyons, buildings and other covered structures, and subterranean facilities such as underground mines, where GPS signals are severely attenuated or totally blocked. As an alternative to GPS for the outdoors, indoor localization using machine learning is an emerging embedded and Internet of Things (IoT) application domain that is poised to reinvent the way we navigate in various indoor environments. This book discusses advances in the applications of machine learning that enable the localization and navigation of humans, robots, and vehicles in GPS-deficient environments. The book explores key challenges in the domain, such as mobile device resource limitations, device heterogeneity, environmental uncertainties, wireless signal variations, and security vulnerabilities. Countering these challenges can improve the accuracy, reliability, predictability, and energy-efficiency of indoor localization and navigation. The book identifies severalnovel energy-efficient, real-time, and robust indoor localization techniques that utilize emerging deep machine learning and statistical techniques to address the challenges for indoor localization and navigation. In particular, the book: Provides comprehensive coverage of the application of machine learning to the domain of indoor localization; Presents techniques to adapt and optimize machine learning models for fast, energy-efficient indoor localization; Covers design and deployment of indoor localization frameworks on mobile, IoT, and embedded devices in real conditions. |

how to scan on htc one: New Developments in Blood Transfusion Research Brian R. Peterson, 2006 Although blood transfusion saves lives and reduces morbidities in many clinical diseases and conditions, it is associated with certain risks. A transfusion-related adverse event, also called transfusion reaction, is any unfavourable event occurring in a patient during or after blood transfusion. About 0.5 per cent to 3 per cent of all transfusions result in some adverse events, but the majority of them are minor reactions with no significant consequences. In general, transfusion-related adverse events are categorised as infectious and non-infectious. However, there are other classifications in the literature based on time of occurrence (i.e. acute versus delayed) or physiological mechanism (i.e. immune mediated versus non-immune mediated). A significant proportion of adverse events may occur as a result of errors in preparation, ordering or administration of blood and blood products. This book contains the latest research in this essential field which has been revolutionised in recent decades. |
