The controversy stems from two major issues: a substantial portion of the Dasam Granth relates tales from Hindu mythology, suggesting a disconnect from normative Sikh theology; and a long composition entitled Charitropakhian tells several hundred rather graphic stories about illicit liaisons between men and women. Sikhs have debated whether the text deserves status as a scripture or should be read instead as literature. Sikh scholars have also long debated whether Guru Gobind Singh in fact authored the entire Dasam Granth. Much of the secondary literature on the Dasam Granth focuses on this authorship issue, and despite an ever-growing body of articles, essays, and books (mainly in Punjabi), the debate has not moved forward. The available manuscript and other historical evidence do not provide conclusive answers regarding authorship. The debate has been so acrimonious at times that in 2000, Sikh leader Joginder Singh Vedanti issued a directive that Sikh scholars not comment on the Dasam Granth publicly at all pending a committee inquiry into the matter. Following the morning devotions, the Guru asked for a volunteer, saying, The entire sangat is very dear to me; but is there a devoted Sikh who will give his head to me here and now? A need has arisen at this moment which calls for a head. One man arose and followed the Guru out of the room. When the Guru returned to the assembly with a bloodied sword, he asked for another volunteer. Another man followed. This was repeated three more times, until at last the Guru emerged with a clean sword and all five men alive and well. Those five volunteers would become the first disciples of the Khalsa, the martial community within the Sikh religion, and would come to be known as the Panj Piare, or the Cherished Five. Despite the centrality of this group to modern Sikhism, scholarship on the Panj Piare has remained sparse. The sagun current, led mostly by Brahmins, has remained dominant in most of North India and has served as the ideological base of the development of modern Hindu nationalism. Several chapters explore the rise of this religious and political movement, paying particular attention to the role played by devotion to Ram. Alternative trends do exist in sagun tradition, however, and are represented here by chapters on the low-caste saint Chokhamel and the tantric sect founded by Kina Ram. The nirgun current, led mostly by persons of Ksand artisan castes, formed the base of both the Sikh community, founded by Guru Nanak, and of various non-Brahmin sectarian movements derived from such saints as Kabir, Raidas, Dadu, and Shiv Dayal Singh.   guru nanak ji history in hindi: भारतीय संगीत का इतिहास ( Bharatiya Sangeet Ka Itihas ) उमेश जोशी ( Umesh Joshi ), 2021-11-05 भारतीय संगीत का इतिहास अपनी पुस्तक के प्रथम प्रकरण में जोशीजी ने संगीत का जन्म पर विश्व के अनेक विद्वानों के विभिन्न मतों का उल्लेख किया है जो कि मनोरंजनात्मक, हृदयस्पर्शी तथा मार्मिक भी है। दूसरे प्रकरण में संगीत और भाषा के जन्म का विश्लेषणात्मक विवेचन किया गया, जिसमें कि यह सिद्ध किया है कि भाषा से पूर्व, संगीत का जन्म हो चुका था। तीसरे प्रकरण में भारत की प्राकृतिकावस्था का संगीत पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ा पर सुन्दर प्रकाश डाला है। चौथे प्रकरण में प्रागैतिहासिक काल के संगीत पर प्रकाश डाला है। इस काल को पूर्व पाषाणकाल, उत्तर पाषाण काल, ताम्र काल तथा लौह काल इत्यादि चार भागों में विभक्त किया है। पाँचवें प्रकरण में सिंधु नदी की घाटी तथा हड़प्पा (पंजाब) की सभ्यता व संगीत पर ऐतिहासिक दृष्टि से विचार किया है जोकि बड़ा महत्त्वपूर्ण है। छठे प्रकरण में वैदिक युग के सांस्कृतिक विकास का गौरवपूर्ण ढंग से विस्तृत रूप का वर्णन करके यह प्रमाणित किया है कि वैदिक संस्कृति का विकास भारत में ही हुआ और यहीं से निकलकर भारतीय संगीत विश्व में फैला। सातवें प्रकरण में पौराणिक काल के संगीत व सामाजिक परिस्थिति का प्रलुब्धकारी वर्णन किया गया है। आठवाँ प्रकरण रामायण काल में संगीत के विकास पर प्रकाश डालता है, इसमें यह दर्शाया है कि तब, संगीत का आत्मिक सौन्दर्य, समाज में पूर्णतया विकसित हो चुका था। संगीत-चरित्र की मर्यादा की रक्षा का साधन बन गया था। नवें प्रकरण में महाभारत काल में संगीत के महत्त्व पर बड़े रोचक शब्दों में लिखा है। भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण को, संगीत के युग प्रवर्त्तक आचार्य प्रमाणित किया है।
