homeschool microsoft office curriculum: Sonrise Stable Vicki Watson, 2008-11 Join Rosie as she learns about life, horses, and God from her grandmother and the horses they love. Oh, Jet, you're the most beautiful pony in the world. Rosie put her hands on each side of Jet's head and gave the pony a kiss on her velvety muzzle. Jet nodded her head as if agreeing with Rosie. Grandma unlatched the stall door and led the pony out. She certainly is. She's even prettier than her mother, Ebony, was. You remember Ebony was your mother's pony when she was a little older than you, Rosie. Ebony taught your mom to ride, just like Jet is teaching you. After your mom and aunt, Julie, outgrew her, many of my students learned to ride on Ebony. Well, I'm never going to outgrow Jet. I'm going to ride her until I'm really old, like you, Grandma. Rosie and Scamper is a story of family, friendship, horses, and a great God who works all things in our lives for good. My love of horses began when a teenage neighbor offered me my first ride, on the back of her horse. From my 8-year-old perspective, it seemed like the biggest horse in the world. From that moment on, I was addicted. Horses were to become a very important part of my life, although I never could have imagined, at the time, how much God would teach me about Himself and my relationship to Him through these wonderful animals. www.sonrisestable.com

If you have a son, you already realize that he is much different than your daughters... but you may not realize that your son actually sees differently, hears differently, and even THINKS differently. Having a son can be confusing for moms. Homeschooling a son can be even more difficult. Often, girls are content to let you hand them a book or a workbook to teach them. Boys, on the other hand, do not normally learn well in this manner. In fact, most boys will confront you with all out rebellion if you try to conduct their homeschooling in this way. So, how should we homeschool boys? Fortunately, there are some simple answers to this question. Michelle candidly details the ups and downs of homeschooling her own sons. She gives practical advice for how to educate boys while enjoying a closer relationship with them at the same time. Boys do enjoy learning when it is approached in the right way. Grab your coffee and settle in for some laughs, some tears, and a huge helping of inspiration. About the Author: Michelle has been married to her best friend for almost 17 years. She is also a homeschool mom to her two wonderful (and tall) sons. Michelle is a Christian, a fan of simple living and a lover of chocolate. She loves her spicy chai tea in the morning and she has a hard time staying out of the snacks at night. You can find her blogging at www.homeschool-your-boys.com.   homeschool microsoft office curriculum: Primary and Secondary Education During Covid-19 Fernando M. Reimers, 2021-09-14 This open access edited volume is a comparative effort to discern the short-term educational impact of the covid-19 pandemic on students, teachers and systems in Brazil, Chile, Finland, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. One of the first academic comparative studies of the educational impact of the pandemic, the book explains how the interruption of in person instruction and the variable efficacy of alternative forms of education caused learning loss and disengagement with learning, especially for disadvantaged students. Other direct and indirect impacts of the pandemic diminished the ability of families to support children and youth in their education. For students, as well as for teachers and school staff, these included the economic shocks experienced by families, in some cases leading to food insecurity and in many more causing stress and anxiety and impacting mental health. Opportunity to learn was also diminished by the shocks and trauma experienced by those with a close relative infected by the virus, and by the constrains on learning resulting from students having to learn at home, where the demands of schoolwork had to be negotiated with other family necessities, often sharing limited space. Furthermore, the prolonged stress caused by the uncertainty over the resolution of the pandemic and resulting from the knowledge that anyone could be infected and potentially lose their lives, created a traumatic context for many that undermined the necessary focus and dedication to schoolwork. These individual effects were reinforced by community effects, particularly for students and teachers living in communities where the multifaceted negative impacts resulting from the pandemic were pervasive. This is an open access book.

homeschool microsoft office curriculum: Educating Children at Home Alan Thomas, 1998-09-23 With increasing numbers of parents choosing to educate their children at home, an opportunity exists to explore education outside the school environment. Parents often discover that classroom approaches to teaching and learning do not easily translate into the home. As a result, some radically adjust their approach to educating their children, in some instances virtually abandoning any structured teaching or learning. Focusing on informal learning, this text examines in depth how children can acquire an education simply through everyday experiences. The text sets out to challenge fundamental assumptions about the nature of teaching and learning. Research has been drawn from a wide cross-section of parents from 100 home-educating families.

homeschool microsoft office curriculum: Write These Laws on Your Children Robert Kunzman, 2010-09-21 Homeschooling is a large and growing phenomenon in American society--between 1999 and 2003 it grew at ten times the rate of public school enrollments. Current estimates suggest that about two million kids are homeschooled, but information about them is incomplete. Here, educator Robert Kunzman uses his unprecedented access to six conservative Christian homeschooling families to explore this elusive world, from the day-to-day lives of its adherents to its broader aspirations to transform American culture and politics. He shows us what their homeschooling experience looks like firsthand, what their political and religious beliefs are, and what their kids learn about democratic citizenship and engaging with people with different beliefs. Woven throughout Kunzman's narrative are larger questions about the purpose of public education, what makes an educated citizenry--and how American political and intellectual life could change as conservative Christian homeschooled children reach adulthood.--From publisher description.

homeschool microsoft office curriculum: Making the Most of Microsoft Office Sharon K. Yoder, Irene Elizabeth Smith, 2003 Making the Most of Microsoft office provides educators and curriculum developers with the fundamental skills and strategies necessary to become proficient users of Microsoft Office technology and to integrate it effectively into the classroom. This book is based on Microsoft Office 2000 technology. The text addresses issues such as word processing versus typing, the importance of communication design for today's students, and how to use the correct tools to work as efficiently as possible. Applications covered in the text include Word, Power Point, Excel, and Access. The authors believe that educators should first learn basic computer skills and the basics of teaching and then bring both sets of skills--technology and teaching--to such tasks as software evaluation, lesson plans, incorporating technologies, etc. Novice users will find this book very useful while advanced users will find skill building activities in areas such as stylesheets and templates that will allow them to enhance communications to a greater degree. Features Developed and field-tested for many years, this book focuses on Office 2000 but can easily be used with other versions of Office for both the Macintosh and PC. Microsoft Office Menus at the beginning of each chapter allow students to reference a printed copy of menus instead of clicking and searching. Provides an introduction to design principles and word processing guidelines. The text goes beyond how to use the software and encourages students to learn to use their computer to improve their communication when creating a variety of documents. Points about technical aspects of Office are highlighted as Technical Notes and vertical sidebars for entries highlight important ideas for ease of reference. References to ISTE National Technology Standards are embedded throughout the text. Focuses on concepts rather than keystrokes, but includes complete instructions for using the programs with Keystroke Quick References in selected chapters and the appendices. Provides examples of ways for teachers and students to use Microsoft Office both in and out of the classroom. Includes many graphics that illustrate examples so that students can verify that they have taken the correct steps in completing a task. Related Titles: Making the Most of AppleWorks, 1/e Sharon K.
