guide to the royal arch chapter: A Handbook of Royal Arch Masonry Royal Arch Masons, 2018-12-01 The York Rite (sometimes referred to as the American Rite) is one of several Rites of Freemasonry. A Rite is a series of progressive degrees that are conferred by various Masonic organizations or bodies, each of which operates under the control of its own central authority. The York Rite specifically is a collection of separate Masonic Bodies and associated Degrees that would otherwise operate independently. The three primary bodies in the York Rite are the Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Council of Royal & Select Masters or Council of Cryptic Masons, and the Commandery of Knights Templar, each of which are governed independently, but are all considered to be a part of the York Rite. Royal Arch Masonry is the first part of the York Rite system of the Masonic degrees. Royal Arch Masons meet as a Chapter, and the Royal Arch Chapter confers four degrees: Mark Master Mason, Past Master, Most Excellent Master, and Royal Arch Mason. This 1962 revised edition of A Handbook of Royal Arch Masonry: A Guide for Chapter Officers includes a detailed section on the ritual prescribed by The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of the State of Wisconsin, and revised by their Ritual Committees (1959-1962), for Constituent Chapters working towards one of the four degrees.

guide to the royal arch chapter: Revolutionary Brotherhood Steven C. Bullock, 2011-02-01 In the first comprehensive history of the fraternity known to outsiders primarily for its secrecy and rituals, Steven Bullock traces Freemasonry through its first century in America. He follows the order from its origins in Britain and its introduction into North America in the 1730s to its near-destruction by a massive anti-Masonic movement almost a century later and its subsequent reconfiguration into the brotherhood we know today. With a membership that included Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Paul Revere, and Andrew Jackson, Freemasonry is fascinating in its own right, but Bullock also places the movement at the center of the transformation of American society and culture from the colonial era to the rise of Jacksonian democracy. Using lodge records, members' reminiscences and correspondence, and local and Masonic histories, Bullock links Freemasonry with the changing ideals of early American society. Although the fraternity began among colonial elites, its spread during the Revolution and afterward allowed it to play an important role in shaping the new nation’s ideas of liberty and equality. Ironically, however, the more inclusive and universalist Masonic ideas became, the more threatening its members' economic and emotional bonds seemed to outsiders, sparking an explosive attack on the fraternity after 1826.   guide to the royal arch chapter: Emulation Ritual The Emulation Lodge of Improvement Unknown, 2007-07-26 The most detailed and authoritive text on the true meaning of the Taylors Masonic rituals! The principal contents of this book are the Official Taylors Lectures on the Three Degrees of Craft Freemasonry. These lectures deal with the description of the ritual of those Degrees along with their moral and symbolic significance and are of a formal nature, arranged as catechisms - that is by question and answer form. The text can be studied at home or can be preformed by two or more brethren in open lodge. Much evidence suggests that many sections of these lectures are as old as the degrees themselves. This book adds much to ones enjoyment and understanding of Freemasonry.

guide to the royal arch chapter: The Complete Lodge Secretary Gordon Hunt, 2010-04-01 A practical and useful guide giving extensive information of all the duties and responsibilities for any Freemason taking on the important role of Secretary within a Lodge. The well-being of a Lodge largely depends upon its Secretary. He has a unique position in it, with multi-dimensional reflections. The Secretary undertakes almost continuous year-long responsibility amidst his numerous livelihood chores. In the past many Secretaries used to be permanent officers of the Lodges, with the benefits that an experienced Secretary would manage the affairs of the Lodge smoothly, but current thinking is that no one should serve for more than two years so that junior members can involve themselves in Lodge affairs. The newcomers to this office often lack experience and this book is written with this background in mind: to provide guidance on the one hand and to help introduce modern management tools on the other. Each major topic which needs some action on the part of the Secretary is given a chapter. Checklists of activities relevant to each chapter are appended at the end of the chapter with cells against each activity to mark the date on which the activity is completed. The general principles in this practical guide hold good for the side degrees as well, with only minor and contextual modifications.

guide to the royal arch chapter: Freemasons' Guide and Compendium Bernard E. Jones, 2006 First published in 1950, the FREEMASONS' GUIDE AND COMPENDIUM is filled with authentic, detailed information on a wide variety of subjects related to masons and masonry. Written by an experienced Freemason with the interests of rank-and-file members of the ordinary lodge in mind'especially the young Craftsman who wishes to learn the nature of Freemasonry's claim to have a history that goes back to ancient days'it provides key facts about masonic history, tradition, and lore. In doing so, the book offers a far greater scope of information than any other comparable work. And Bernard E. Jones critically examines conflicting ideas about how some of the traditions came to be, coming to conclusions of his own.The early chapters of FREEMASONS' GUIDE AND COMPENDIUM describe how the masonic guilds arose in eleven-century England after the Norman conquest. From there Jones moves into the emergence of speculative Freemasonry in the late medieval period and explores its amazing growth as an esoteric system during the eighteenth century. The major part of the book consists of a comprehensive, systematic presentation of information about masonry's customs, principles and tenets, words and phrases, lodge appointments and working tools, symbols and emblems. With the help of the guide and compendium, the Craftsman will have no difficulty in making daily progress in masonic knowledge, and the thorough, exhaustive index will help him to access a great store of knowledge. As interest in the subject of Freemasonry continues to grow, as seen in the movie NATIONAL TREASURE and in Dan Brown's forthcoming book, the FREEMASONS' GUIDE AND COMPENDIUM will be a valuable source of information for anyone who wants to research and understand the masons.

guide to the royal arch chapter: Beyond the Craft Keith Jackson, 2007-07-26 New revised 5th edition with colour illustrations. A guide book that details Masonic Orders beyond the Craft that are still worked in England and Wales. The Author - My masonic readers have overheard those engrossing snippets of conversation that seem to occur so frequently at the festive board of a Craft lodge where reference is made to the ?Mariners?, ?the KT? or ?the Cryptic?. Enquiry is rewarded with the explanation that they are other degrees, but generally there is little further information forthcoming and one is left with a feeling of awakened, yet ungratified curiosity. This book attempts to produce a condensed, yet comprehensive text of information regarding the various masonic orders at work in England today. Contains in-depth information on the History, Joining qualifications, hierarchy, rituals and teachings and regalia of the following Masonic orders. Holy Royal Arch, Mark Masonry, Royal Ark Mariners, Order of the Secret Monitor, Royal and Select Masters, Order of the Secret Monitor, R and Select masters, Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees, The Ancient and Accepted Rite (Rose Croix), The Red Cross of Constantine, Knight Templar and Knight of Malta, Holy Royal Arch Knights Templar Priests, Royal Order of Scotland, Baldwyn Rite, The Operatives, Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia, Order of Light, Order of Eri, Knight Templar Beneficent of the Holy city.

guide to the royal arch chapter: Capitular Development Course (Mass Version) Piers Vaughan, 2022-10-05 The Capitular Development Course for the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts is now available. It is designed to educate Royal Arch Masons, in particular those who are members of the American or York Rite practiced in the United States and a number of other countries around the world. While the book may certainly be read on its own, having a copy of the Holy Bible to hand would assist in understanding much of the symbolism. This book is also intended to be used as a part of a course, run by a Facilitator, when a copy of the State Capitular Rituals should be used to accompany this course. Upon completion of the course, the Companion may consider himself both well versed in the message and symbolism of the Capitular Degrees, and qualified to pursue his own further education. To this end, a number of books and courses recommended for further study are given at the end of this book.
