gene bukovi: Akron-Canton Baseball Heritage Thomas Maroon, Margaret Maroon, Craig Holbert, 2007 Baseball has a strong presence in the Akron-Canton area dating back to its formative years in the late 1880s with such teams as the Akron Acorns (1887), the Akron Akrons (1890), and the Canton Nadjys (1889). In the 1920s, manufacturing companies such as Goodyear and Firestone fielded baseball teams that battled for local bragging rights and opportunities for players to make the big leagues. Along with these industrial leagues, professional baseball found its way to the Akron-Canton area with minor-league teams including the Akron Yankees (1935-1941), the Canton-Akron Indians (1989-1996), and the Akron Aeros (1997-). In addition to teams affiliated with major-league ball clubs, this area gave birth to independent teams such as the Canton Crocodiles (1997-2001), the Canton Coyotes (2002), and others. Besides professional baseball gracing local fields, nearby universities have storied baseball programs of their own. These schools have turned out such major-league greats as Eugene Michael, Thurman Munson, and 1980 Cy Young winner Steve Stone. Akron-Canton Baseball Heritage offers a unique look into the history of baseball in the region with historic and present-day photographs. |

10 x Auf Entdeckungstour ! Auf Habsburgs Spuren - vom Meer ins Orjen-Gebirge Auf alten Pfaden - Wanderung von Kotor zum Krstac-Pass Spaziergang durch Stari Bar - Tor in die Vergangenheit Ein Ausflug nach Shkodër - Albanien zwischen Modernisierung und Tradition Birdwatching - Pelikan & Co auf dem Skadarsko jezero Im Ethnologischen Museum von Cetinje - gewebte Schätze Zum Karsee Jablan jezero - Natur pur im Durmitor-Gebirge Erlebnis Tara - Rafting in Europas tiefster Schlucht Titos Gebirgsbahn ans Meer - Bahnfahrt der Superlative Im Botanischen Garten Vincek in Kolasin - Gebirgsvegetation zum Kennenlernen Die Karten Satellitenaufnahme von Montenegro Übersichtskarte mit den Highlights der Region 14 Citypläne, Detail- und Wanderkarten: sämtliche Adressen sind anhand eines farbigen Nummernsystems verortet Plus: Extra-Reisekarte zum Herausnehmen |

gene bukovi: Trisha's Table Trisha Yearwood, Beth Yearwood Bernard, 2017-04-04 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The country music superstar, Food Network standout, and bestselling author shows how delicious and wholesome dishes are part of a balanced lifestyle. Trisha Yearwood is as much a force in the kitchen as she is on stage. But after years of enjoying decadent Southern comfort food, her culinary philosophy is evolving. As Trisha says, “I have adopted an 80/20 rule: 80 percent of the time I make good choices; 20 percent of the time I let myself splurge a little.” Whether surprisingly virtuous or just a little bit sinful, the recipes in Trisha’s Table all bring that unmistakable authenticity you’ve come to love from Trisha. You’ll find brand-new dishes emblematic of the variety and balance Trisha champions. They skimp on anything but flavor, including dairy-free Angel Hair Pasta with Avocado Pesto, low-calorie Billie’s Houdini Chicken Salad, vegetarian Smashed Sweet Pea Burgers, and tasty, high-protein Edamame Parmesan, alongside too-good-to-give-up family favorites, such as Slow Cooker Georgia Pulled-Pork Barbecue, Chicken Tortilla Casserole, Snappy Pear-Cranberry Crumble, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls. Trisha wants to feed her loved ones—and yours, too—food that tastes good and food that’s good for you. So pull up a seat at Trisha’s Table and dig in! |

gene bukovi: 9 and 11 Kim H. Veltman, 2015-02-23 This is an unlikely story of true events. The Day that changed the World in the United States (bombing of the Twin Towers), the Day of Fate in Germany and the Day of Destiny in Israel are all connected with the 11th day of the 9th month. These 9/11 dates entail much more than three events in three countries. In the Hebrew tradition, they include all the calamities that have befallen the Jews from the time of the Destruction of the First Temple and Second Temple, the Expulsion of the Jews from England, France, Spain through to the Holocaust in World War II. These events are, in turn, part of a larger history, which linked the same date with cosmic events such as a day of Cosmic Battle and the Birth of Venus and gave special significance to the numbers 9 and 11. Part one explores this tradition and surveys a range of sources from a former German officer involved in the plot against Hitler, to various conspiracy theories. These events are also related to swastikas and hexagrams. Since World War II there has been a trend to associate swastikas with an evil, German Aryan tradition and hexagrams (e.g. six-pointed Star of David) with a good, Jewish Semitic tradition. Historically, a Jewish connection with the Star of David is late Mediaeval rather than Biblical. Swastikas and hexagrams are found in both the Aryan and the Semitic tradition. Hence, the new trend distorts a complex history. More disturbingly, in the guise of tolerance and political correctness, one version of stories is highlighted, others are being suppressed and truth is endangered. |
