Fidel Castro. |
diario del che en bolivia: The Bolivian Diary Ernesto Che Guevara, 2022-06-14 The last diary of revolutionary Che Guevara with entries up until two days before his murder. This new edition of Che Guevara's diary of the last year of his life describes Che's efforts to launch a guerrilla insurrection against the military government of Bolivia. It was found in his backpack when he was captured by the Bolivian Army in October 1967.This edition includes Fidel Castro's A Necessary Introduction, exposing the lies of an earlier, pre-emptive edition prepared by the C.I.A. to discredit Che and the Bolivian expedition, as well as the Cuban Revolution itself. The Bolivian Diary reveals an older, more time-tested, and health-compromised Che than either the exuberant The Motorcycle Diaries or the mature and implacable Congo Diary. There is rich irony here as he recounts the daily challenges faced by his small guerrilla band, the pronouncements of the military government, and the actions of the large military force attacking them. The last entry describes the day before Che's capture, two days before his murder. |
diario del che en bolivia: The Awakening of Latin America Ernesto Che Guevara, 2024-07-23 This classic anthology on Latin America shows the Argentine-born revolutionary's cultural depth, rigorous intellect, and intense emotional engagement with a continent and its people. In a letter to his mother in 1954, a young Ernesto Guevara wrote, “The Americas will be the theater of my adventures in a way that is much more significant than I would have believed.” In The Awakening of Latin America we have the story of those adventures, charting Che’s evolution from an impressionable young medical student to the “heroic guerrilla,” assassinated in cold blood in Bolivia. Spanning seventeen years, this anthology draws on from his family’s personal archives and offers the best of Che’s writing: examples of his journalism, essays, speeches, letters, and even poems. As Che documents his early travels through Latin America, his involvement in the Guatemalan and Cuban revolutions, and his rise to international prominence under Fidel Castro, we see how his fervent commitment to social justice shaped and was shaped by the continent he called home. |

diario del che en bolivia: The Motorcycle Diaries Ernesto Che Guevara, 2021-11-09 A New York Times bestseller With a new introduction by The Motorcyle Diaries filmmaker Walter Salles, and featuring 24 pages of photos taken by Che. The Motorcycle Diaries is Che Guevara's diary of his journey to discover the continent of Latin America while still a medical student, setting out in 1952 on a vintage Norton motorcycle together with his friend Alberto Granado, a biochemist. It captures, arguably as much as any book ever written, the exuberance and joy of one person's youthful belief in the possibilities of humankind tending towards justice, peace and happiness. After the release in 2004 of the exhilarating film of the same title, directed by Walter Salles, the book became a New York Times and international bestseller. This edition includes a new introduction by Walter Salles and an array of new material that was assembled for the 2004 edition coinciding with the release of the film, including 24 pages of previously unpublished photos taken by Che, notes and comments by his wife, Aleida Guevara March, and an extensive introduction by the distinguished Cuban author, Cintio Vitier. A journey, a number of journeys. Ernesto Guevara in search of adventure, Ernesto Guevara in search of America, Ernesto Guevara in search of Che. On this journey, solitude found solidarity. 'I' turned into 'we.'—Eduardo Galeano As his journey progresses, Guevara's voice seems to deepen, to darken, colored by what he witnesses in his travels. He is still poetic, but now he comments on what he sees, though still poetically, with a new awareness of the social and political ramifications of what's going on around him.—January Magazine Our film is about a young man, Che, falling in love with a continent and finding his place in it. —Walter Salles, director of the film version of The Motorcycle Diaries All this wandering around 'Our America with a Capital A' has changed me more than I thought. —Ernesto Che Guevara, from The Motorcycle Diaries |
diario del che en bolivia: Back on the Road Che Guevara, 2001 The fascinating travel diaries that make up this volume are a vital complement to The Motorcycle Diaries, described by the London Times as Das Kapital meets Easy Rider. These journals chronicle Guevara's trip through Latin America as his youthful idealism was developing into the political fervor that made him a revolutionary icon. |
diario del che en bolivia: Remembering Che Aleida March, 2024-05-07 Che Guevara’s widow remembers a great revolutionary romance tragically cut short by Che’s assassination in Bolivia. When Aleida March first met Che Guevara, she was a twenty-year-old combatant from the provinces of Cuba, he an already legendary revolutionary and larger-than-life leader. And yet there was another, more human side to Che, one Aleida was given special access to, first as his trusted compañera and later as the love of his life. With great immediacy and poignancy, Aleida recounts the story of their epic romance—their fitful courtship against the backdrop of the Cuban revolutionary war, their marriage at the war’s end and the birth of their four children, up through Che’s tragic assassination in Bolivia less than ten years later. Featuring excerpts from their letters, nearly one hundred never-before-seen photographs from their private collection, and a moving short story Che wrote for Aleida, here is an intimate look at the man behind the legend and the tenacious, courageous woman who knew him best—a story of passionate love, wrenching sacrifice, and unwavering heroism. |
diario del che en bolivia: Che Guevara and the Latin American Revolution Manuel Piñeiro Losada, 2006 Manuel Pineiro, known as 'Barbarroja' (Red Beard) was for decades a figure of great mystery, overseeing Cuba's operations in Latin America and Africa in close collaboration with Che Guevara. Here he speaks candidly and with fascinating insight regarding Che's strategy for Latin America in the 1960s - and answers the accusations made by some biographers that Che left Cuba because he was disaffected and that Fidel abandoned Che when the Bolivia mission began to fail. |

diario del che en bolivia: Traveling with Che Guevara Alberto Granado, 2010-05-21 Published for the first time in the U.S. - one of the two diaries on which the upcoming movie The Motorcycle Diaries is based - the moving and at times hilarious account of Che Guevara and Alberton Granado's eight-month tour of South America in 1952. In 1952 Alberto Granado, a young doctor, and his friend Ernesto Guevara, a 23-year-old medical student from a distinguished Buenos Aires family, decided to explore their continent. They set off from Cordoba in Agentina on a Norton 500cc motorbike traveled through Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela. The duo's adventures vary from the suspenseful (stowing away on a cargo ship, exploring Incan ruins) to the comedic (falling in love, drinking, fighting...) to the serious (volunteering as firemen and at a leper colony). They worked as day laborers along the way - as soccer coaches, medical assistants, and furniture movers. The poverty and exploitation of the native population started the process that was to turn Ernesto - the debonair, fun-loving student - into Che, the revolutionary who had a profound impact on the history of several nations. Originally published in Spanish in Cuba in 1978, the first English translation was published by Random House UK in 2003. The movie, based on Granado's and Che's diaries, directed by Walter Salles (Central Station, Behind the Sun), was produced by Robert Redford and others. Shown at the Sundance Film Festival, it generated great reviews and a frenzied auction for distribution rights, which was won by Focus Features. Granado, now 82, was a consultant to Salles during the production. |
diario del che en bolivia: The Last Days of Che Guevara Marco Rizzo, 2013-12 Che Guevara still inspires resistance against capitalism throughout the globe. His image has become an iconic international symbol of the struggle against economic exploitation. Guevara was a physician, a key revolutionary figure within Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement, and an international guerilla leader and theorist. His memoires became international bestsellers. Guevara was eventually captured and executed by CIA-backed Bolivian forces. This illustrated biography begins with his capture in October 1967, tracing the power of his legacy through his engagements with central figures of that tumultuous period. I am not a liberator. Liberators do not exist. The people liberate themselves. - Ernesto Che Guevara |
World Jonathan C. Brown, 2017-04-24 As Castro’s democratic reform movement veered off course, a revolution that seemed to signal the death knell of dictatorship in Latin America brought about its tragic opposite. Jonathan C. Brown examines in forensic detail how the turmoil that rocked a small Caribbean nation in the 1950s became one of the century’s most transformative events. |
diario del che en bolivia: I Embrace You With All My Revolutionary Fervor Ernesto Che Guevara, 2021-09-02 An extraordinary selection of the letters of Che Guevara 'Always be capable of feeling deeply any injustice committed against anyone, anywhere in the world' Che Guevara was an inveterate letter writer and diarist throughout his short but extraordinary life. This selection of his letters begins with his youthful motorcycle travels around Latin America as a wide-eyed medical student, and goes on to cover the Cuban Revolutionary War - including his letter to Castro after its success - his subsequent role as a government leader, travels to the Congo and finally Bolivia at the end of his life. Together they map the emergence of a dedicated revolutionary, but also reveal him as a master narrator: honest and insightful, with a razor-sharp wit, an iron will and, in his intimate writings to his family, a great capacity to express affection for those closest to him. |
diario del che en bolivia: Che, My Brother Juan Martin Guevara, Armelle Vincent, 2017-06-06 On 9 October 1967, Ernesto Che Guevara, Marxist guerrilla leader and hero of the Cuban Revolution, was captured and executed by Bolivian forces. When the Guevara family learned from the front pages that Che was dead, they decided to say nothing. Fifty years on, his younger brother, Juan Martin, breaks the silence to narrate his intimate memories and share with us his views of the character behind one of history's most iconic figures. Juan Martin brings Che back to life, as a caring and protective older brother. Alongside the many practical jokes and escapades they undertook together, Juan Martin also relates the two extraordinary months he spent with the Comandante in 1959, in Havana, at the epicentre of the Cuban Revolution. He remembers Che as an idealist and adventurer and also as a committed intellectual. And he tells us of their parents - eccentric, cultivated, bohemian - and of their brothers and sisters, all of whom played a part in his political awakening. This unique autobiographical account sheds new light on a figure who continues to be revered as a symbol of revolutionary action and who remains a source of inspiration for many who believe that the struggle for a better world is not in vain. |
diario del che en bolivia: The Truman Administration and Bolivia Glenn J. Dorn, 2015-08-21 The United States emerged from World War II with generally good relations with the countries of Latin America and with the traditional Good Neighbor policy still largely intact. But it wasn’t too long before various overarching strategic and ideological priorities began to undermine those good relations as the Cold War came to exert its grip on U.S. policy formation and implementation. In The Truman Administration and Bolivia, Glenn Dorn tells the story of how the Truman administration allowed its strategic concerns for cheap and ready access to a crucial mineral resource, tin, to take precedence over further developing a positive relationship with Bolivia. This ultimately led to the economic conflict that provided a major impetus for the resistance that culminated in the Revolution of 1952—the most important revolutionary event in Latin America since the Mexican Revolution of 1910. The emergence of another revolutionary movement in Bolivia early in the millennium under Evo Morales makes this study of its Cold War predecessor an illuminating and timely exploration of the recurrent tensions between U.S. efforts to establish and dominate a liberal capitalist world order and the counterefforts of Latin American countries like Bolivia to forge their own destinies in the shadow of the “colossus of the north.” |

Is there an alternative to the corporate globalization and militarism that is ravaging our planet? These classic works by ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA, icluding his famous essay Socialism and Man in Cuba, present a revolutionary view of a different world in which human solidarity and understanding replace imperialist aggression and exploitation. Che Guevara was born in Argentina and traveled throughout Latin America before joining the Cuban revolutionary movement that toppled the Batista dictatorship in 1959. Although best known as a guerrilla fighter, this book shows Che as a profound thinker with a radical world view that still strikes a chord with young rebels in every country today. “The powerful of the earth should take head: deep inside that T-shirt where we have tried to trap him, the eyes of Che Guevara are still burning with impatience.” – Ariel Dorfman |
diario del che en bolivia: Che Guevara Massimo Zanella, 2017 Che Guevera in his own words: an intimate portrait of the Marxist revolutionary Fifty years after his death, this book tells the story of the Marxist revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara (1928-67)--exploring his legacy as a historical figure, but also encountering him as a human being. Taking its subtitle Tú y Todos from the title of a poem Guevara wrote for his wife before leaving Argentina for Bolivia, the publication aims to rediscover the man behind the iconic revolutionary image, restoring Guevara's story to its more human and historical dimensions. To do so, the book interweaves the geopolitical, the biographical and the personal, mixing different narrative tones and sources--from journalistic narration to the most intimate diary entries. Numerous original archival materials sketch how Guevara's private and public experiences helped develop his ideas about education, foreign policy and economics, his sense of revolution and his hope in the New Man. Official speeches share space with Guevara's diaries, letters to friends and family and his poems dedicated to his wife, Aleida, a more personal register in which doubts, contradictions and reflections emerge. Che Guevara: Tú y Todos offers an intimate portrait of a figure who has shaped the modern world and captured the imagination of generations. It is the story of Ernesto Guevara, El Che, in his own words. |
diario del che en bolivia: The Psychobiology of Human Motivation Hugh Wagner, 2021-02-03 This is a classic edition of Hugh Wagner’s influential overview of the biopsychological underpinnings of human motivation. It includes a new foreword written by Michael Richter who reflects on Wagner’s 20 years of teaching, writing and research in the field of biopsychology and promises an engaging, succinct and accessible introductory text that remains relevant and useful to students today. The Psychobiology of Human Motivation explores what directs our behaviour, from basic physiological needs like hunger and thirst to more complex aspects of social behaviour like altruism. Wagner explores the limits of biological explanations and shows how humans can influence ‘basic’ physiological drives in order to adapt to a complex social environment. An accessible, engaging resource strengthened by many applied examples, Wagner’s text continues to be integral reading for undergraduate students seeking a solid introduction to the psychology of human motivation across the social and behavioural sciences. |

In this memoir, Fidel Castro describes his historic political partnership and personal friendship with Che Guevara, a relationship that changed the course of Cuban politics and world history. “For me it has been hard to accept the idea that Che is dead. I have dreamed of him often, that I spoke with him, that he was alive.” In this uncharacteristically gentle epitaph in book form, Castro brings Che Guevara—the man, the thinker, and Fidel’s greatest fan—back to life. He recounts his long friendship and collaboration with Che, from their meeting in Mexico City to the military campaigns of the Cuban revolution and includes a frank assessment of the mission to Bolivia where Che was killed. Castro gives us a moving portrait of his long-lasting friendship with Che, including the last days together in Cuba, and offers remarkable insight into the political partnership that changed the face of Latin America forever. |

I had prepared a life plan that included ten years of wandering, later years studying medicine. . . . All that's in the past, the only thing that's clear is that the ten years of wandering might grow longer . . . but it will now be of an entirely different type from the one I dreamed of, and when I arrive in a new country it will not be to go to museums and look at ruins, because that still interests me, but also to join the struggle of the people.” – Che Guevara, in a letter to his mother, 1956Assembled from two separate books written by Che's father, this is a vivid and intimate account of the formative years of an icon. Ernesto Guevara Lynch describes the people and personal events that shaped the development of his son's revolutionary worldview, from his childhood in a bourgeois Argentinian home to the moment he joined Castro to train for the invasion of Cuba in 1956. It also includes, available for the first time in the United States, Che's diary of his trip around Northern Argentina in 1950. Young Che is an indispensible guide to understanding one of the twentieth century's most famous and enduring revolutionary figures. |

diario del che en bolivia: Exposing the Real Che Guevara Humberto Fontova, 2007-04-19 A debunking of liberal myths about one of the most bloodthirsty icons of the twentieth century. Hollywood, Madison Avenue, and the mainstream media celebrate Ernesto Che Guevara as a saint, a sex symbol, and a selfless martyr. But their ideas about Che—whose face adorns countless T-shirts and posters—are based on the lies of Fidel Castro's murderous dictatorship. Che's hipster fans are classic useful idiots, the name Stalin gave to foolish Westerners who parroted his lies about communism. And their numbers only increased after a new biopic was released, starring Benicio Del Toro. But as Humberto Fontova reveals in this myth-shattering book, Che was actually a bloodthirsty executioner, a military bumbler, a coward, and a hypocrite. In fact, Che can be called the godfather of modern terrorism. Fontova reveals: • How he longed to destroy New York City with nuclear missiles. • How he persecuted gays, blacks, and religious people. • How he loved material wealth and private luxuries, despite his image as an ascetic. Are Che fans like Angelina Jolie, Jesse Jackson, Carlos Santana, and Johnny Depp too ignorant to realize they've been duped? Or too anti-American to care? |
