Salah satu dampaknya adalah para orang tua mulai merasakan kesulitan untuk mendidik anaknya. Wabah Covid-19 menjadi momentum bagi pendidikan untuk berinovasi dan berkreasi. Demi merespon anjuran pemerintah untuk beribadah, bekerja, dan belajar dari rumah, maka rumah menjadi tempat belajar yang sangat penting. Para orang tua wajib mengusahakan keadaan ini sesuai dengan kondisi rumahnya masing-masing. Kita semua menyadari bahwa pendidikan sesungguhnya bukan sekedar transfer ilmu pengetahuan (transfer of knowledge) melainkan sekaligus juga transfer nilai (transfer of value). Untuk itu, penanaman nilai-nilai Pendidikan Karakter, Olah Hati (Etika), Olah Rasa (Estetika), Olah Pikir (Literasi), dan Olah Raga (Kinestetika). Hal ini merupakan pilar penyangga demi tegaknya pendidikan di Indonesia. Pendidikan karakter ini tidak bisa hanya diperoleh dengan belajar browsing lewat internet. Bagaimanapun peranan guru yang tidak bisa digantikan oleh teknologi adalah mendidik sikap spiritual, sosial, dan keterampilan. Menciptakan pola belajar efektif dari rumah adalah satu solusi cerdas yang digagas oleh PGRI. Saya menyambut baik apa yang telah dilakukan oleh kawan-kawan guru anggota PGRI yang tergabung dalam WA Group belajar menulis dan menerbitkan buku.
