creditstrong legit: Compilation and Review of Completed Restoration and Mitigation Studies in Developing an Evaluation Framework for Environmental Resources: Volume 1 , 1995 This is Volume I of a two volume set and the first of a series of interim reports which will be published under the Evaluation Framework Work Unit of the Evaluation of Environmental Investments Research Program. Volume I documents, from 10 case studies, an initial effort to identify the important planning issues presently being faced by Corps planners. This effort was conducted from March through November of 1994 by conducting a focus session with Washington level reviewers and by conducting a large number of interviews with Corps and non-Corps study team members. A comparative analysis identifies the important themes that emerged from this effort. Recommendations and future needs are also discussed in this Volume. (MM). |

Taylor, 1997-05-15 Economics is full of puzzles and paradoxes that often frustrate and challenge everyone, including economists. This engaging book includes fifty puzzles and focuses on three types of paradox. First, everyday observations that appear to belie common sense (such as why some supermarket items sell for more per ounce in larger sizes). Secondly, those paradoxes which have perplexed economists in the past but have since been fairly resolved (such as the diamond–water paradox). Finally, empirical or conceptual anomalies that remain unresolved and present a challenge to today’s economists (such as the voting paradox). |

Monetary and Capital Markets Department, 2016-02-29 This paper discusses the following issues related to the economy of Argentina: macro-financial performance and financial system overview, financial sector risks and resilience, financial safety nets, financial sector oversight framework, and financial sector development. Argentina’s financial system is very small compared to countries at a similar stage of development and it is mostly transactional. Building greater confidence in the macroeconomic outlook is essential to deepening financial markets. The banking system appears resilient to a wide range of shocks, reflecting banks’ large capital and liquidity buffers, as well as the strong quality of their assets. Continuing to improve the financial infrastructure would also help enhance access to finance. |

creditstrong legit: A Semi-Structural Model for Credit Cycle and Policy Analysis – An Application for Luxembourg Carlos de Resende, Alexandra Solovyeva, Moez Souissi, 2024-07-09 The paper explores the nexus between the financial and business cycles in a semi-structural New Keynesian model with a financial accelerator, an active banking sector, and an endogenous macroprudential policy reaction function. We parametrize the model for Luxembourg through a mix of calibration and Bayesian estimation techniques. The model features dynamic properties that align with theoretical priors and empirical evidence and displays sensible data-matching and forecasting capabilities, especially for credit indicators. We find that the credit gap, which remained positive during COVID-19 amid continued favorable financial conditions and policy support, had been closing by mid-2022. Model-based forecasts using data up to 2022Q2 and conditional on the October 2022 WEO projections for the Euro area suggest that Luxembourg's business and credit cycles would deteriorate until late 2024. Based on these insights about the current and projected positions in the credit cycle, the model can guide policymakers on how to adjust the macroprudential policy stance. Policy simulations suggest that the weights given to measures of credit-to-GDP and asset price gaps in the macroprudential policy rule should be well-calibrated to avoid unwarranted volatility in the policy response. |
creditstrong legit: COVID-19's Impact on the Cryptocurrency Market and the Digital Economy Mansour, Nadia, Ben Salem, Salha, 2022-05-20 The digital revolution is impacting not only organizations but all areas of society. No sector of activity has been spared, and the survival of many organizations depends on their ability to transform and reinvent themselves in a new digital paradigm that is still very uncertain and relatively anxiety-provoking. Before tackling technological issues, it is important to ask the right questions and to acquire a minimum of digital culture that will enable the implementation of a transformation strategy and the use of appropriate technological tools. COVID-19’s Impact on the Cryptocurrency Market and the Digital Economy proposes a dive into the digital ecosystem through a historical, sociological, political, and economic approach that supplies readers with a foundation they can build their future digital skills on. Covering topics such as cryptocurrency and economic resiliency, it is ideal for industry professionals, researchers, practitioners, scholars, academicians, and students. |
creditstrong legit: Trauma To Triumph: Rising From The Ashes Of The Asian Financial Crisis Hoe Ee Khor, Diwa C Guinigundo, Masahiro Kawai, 2022-05-12 This book takes stock of and analyzes the events during the Asian financial crisis (AFC) and subsequent developments, including the global financial crisis (GFC), that led to the development of the ASEAN+3 regional financial cooperation framework and the establishment of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office. The book is the first of its kind to compile comprehensive recollections of the major players during the AFC and the GFC, including country-level narratives on the causes and developments of the crises, and measures to overcome them. The book not only presents an analytical and deeper examination of country experiences during both crises, but also assesses the two crises and covers the lessons learnt from the crises, particularly with a focus on the development of regional financial cooperation. The book concludes with regional financial cooperation in retrospect, aiming to catalyze further discussions on the direction of the region's financial cooperation. |

creditstrong legit: Republic of San Marino International Monetary Fund. European Dept., 2023-11-22 Context. The global financial crisis and international efforts to address preferential tax regimes exposed the vulnerabilities of San Marino’s oversized financial sector servicing nonresidents. While the banking system entered a deep crisis in 2008 and continues to struggle, the nonfinancial sector has experienced a recovery underpinned by cost-competitiveness and strong corporate balance sheets. More recently, prudent fiscal policies, access to international capital markets and favorable external conditions improved the public finances and boosted confidence. As a result, the economy has been remarkably resilient throughout the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Despite volatile financial conditions, the government was able to rollover the Eurobond maturing next year. However, San Marino is a microstate subject to very high volatility and financial sector vulnerabilities remain, suggesting that larger-than-usual fiscal buffers are needed. |
