at jesus feet doug batchelor: According to Mary Magdalene Marianne Fredriksson, 2002-12-01 Long ater the death of Christ, the apostles seek out Mary Magdalene. They have come for her memories of Jesus, as she was closest to and most loved by him. Thus begins her story: her childhood and the murder of her parents; her education and service at a brothel; her first love. Mary recounts her intimate experience with Jesus of Nazareth--of meeting this remarkable man, their all-too-human relationship, and his journey toward destiny. Later, when she realizes the apostles are intentionally altering Christ's teachings to suit their own goals, Mary struggles to spread theundistorted teachings herself, joining with her sisters who would otherwise have no place, and no voice, in the new church the apostles are creating. In sharing her own story, Mary weaves a richly textured tapestry of people, landscapes, cultures, and beliefs, and provides new insight into the role of women in the early Christian church. Marianne Fredrikkson masterfully breathes new life into the figure of Mary Magdalene in this triumphal novel of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, seen through the eyes of the woman who loved him most.

at jesus feet doug batchelor: Islam and Christianity in Prophecy Tim Roosenberg, The headlines are unmistakable. Our world is on the precipice of extraordinary, cataclysmic change. The conflict between two great world religions—Islam and Christianity—is fast approaching a devastating climax that will shake the whole world. Indeed, the fact of Western Europe has already been transformed through rapid Islamic expansion, and the fear of terror and holy war pervade the American psyche as multiple conflicts rage in the Middle East. But what happens next, and when? In an age of constant unpredictability, how can we really know what the future holds? After a decade of careful study and scholarly legwork, international speaker Tim Roosenberg unveils a staggering new study of Bible prophecy that demonstrates that God’s Word is not silent regarding Islam in these last days. Islam and Christianity in Prophecy carefully explores and unlocks the mysterious book of Daniel, specifically chapters 11 and 12, unveiling a thrilling picture of prophecy that includes the past, present, and future roles of Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, and the United States in the final conflict ahead. Along the way, Pastor Roosenberg provides the answers you need to survive the coming holy war, answers that will give you complete confidence in God’s Word, and faith in the promises of Jesus Christ. “From the ancestors of Abraham sprang the world’s two largest religions today, Christianity and Islam. While there is still much that is unknown, it is hard to deny that Islam will have a significant role in last day prophecy. With Scripture, history, and reason, Pastor Tim Roosenberg presents a compelling scenario for the prominent place of Islam in future prophecy.” —Doug Batchelor, Amazing Facts International

at jesus feet doug batchelor: End Time Delusions Steve Wohlberg, 2005-01-28 Will Christians vanish in a rapture? Will seven years of apocalyptic terror overtake those left behind? Will one future Mr. Diabolical—the antichrist—rise to control the world? Will he enter a rebuilt Jewish temple, claiming to be God? Will Earth’s nations attack Israel at Armageddon? Best-selling books like Left Behind and popular apocalyptic movies predict such things. Are they correct? No area of Christianity has been subject to more misguided interpretation than end time prophecy. Millions of Christians sense we are nearing Jesus Christ’s return. Yet when it comes to what the majority thinks will happen during Earth’s last days, and what the Bible actually says will occur, the difference is seismic. With clarity and biblical accuracy, End Time Delusions exposes massive errors now flooding through media and in much of today’s sensational prophecy writing. This book closely examines tightly meshed yet speculative theories about the rapture, seven-year tribulation, antichrist, and the modern Jewish state. This book is no novelty. Buttressed with solid teachings from many of Christianity’s most illustrious scholars, it lets the Bible speak for itself about the past, present, and future.

at jesus feet doug batchelor: Am I Really a Christian? (Foreword by Kirk Cameron) Mike McKinley, 2011-06-07 Jesus divided the world into two groups—those who follow him and those who don't. But what happens when someone thinks he or she is a Christian, but isn't? With his witty, engaging style, Mike McKinley takes readers on a journey of what it means to be a Christian. He asserts that manipulative evangelism techniques and a poor understanding of the gospel have resulted in an abundance of professing Christians who have no idea what it means to follow Christ. Each chapter title begins with You're not a Christian [if/when/just because you]... As he surveys what it means to be Christian, McKinley offers criteria for evaluating one's standing before God. Readers are guided through a series of challenges to reflect, repent, remember, and report to another person. Am I Really a Christian? ends with chapters on salvation and the local church. This unique book is written for nominal or new Christians and can be used in personal or small-group study.

at jesus feet doug batchelor: Zero to Sixty in Sixty Years John Lee Martin, 2023-04-10 About the Book John Lee Martin was born into a family in which his parents hated each other. This should have provided ample reason to fail but he was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a severe mental illness. This book is about John’s journey from a seriously messed up family to a way of life that everyone should enjoy. He begins his story by describing an incident that occurred at his wife’s 50th class reunion, at which John gets to know a couple that came to New Bern, North Carolina from San Diego, California. Things went well until this man discovered John was born in Bakersfield to parents that migrated from Oklahoma to find work. That’s pretty much all this man knew about John but he turned away because he would have no contact with an “okie”. This brought about a fitting start of a true story about a life that dealt with a hopelessly toxic family, periods of insanity, suicide attempts, electroshock treatments, numerous in-patient visits to seven different psychiatric hospitals, prison, divorce, job losses, and other more subtle discomforts. This book isn’t about those situations in which a bipolar patient finds himself. It’s about recovery. It is the story of how John came through all of it. It’s the story of a man who came from a hot, dry, dusty cotton farm in Arvin, California to a sweet little town on the opposite side of the continent, and it is in this little town that John has built a life full of joy and peace. And it only took sixty years! About the Author John was born in the Kern County Hospital in Bakersfield, California to parents who had migrated from Oklahoma to find work. He lived on a cotton farm in Arvin, a hot, dusty, and dry environment just outside Bakersfield. The family returned to Oklahoma where he went through the 12 grades at Jenks Public Schools in Jenks, a small football town on the banks of the Arkansas River, just below Tulsa. After graduating high school he joined the navy and did his sea duty on a WWII era diesel/electric submarine. While stationed in New London, Connecticut John met a family that changed his life. He was influenced to begin a long pull that led him from that dusty cotton field to a much happier environment. His path led him to New Bern, North Carolina, a little town on the coast, where two beautiful rivers meet. It was here that he met his wife of nearly 40 years. This longevity is not common among many bipolar patients given that the disease is a behavioral disorder that can ruin relationships. God has given him the strength to come out with a pretty good life.
