apache logistics reviews: The Sun Is a Compass Caroline Van Hemert, 2019-03-19 For fans of Cheryl Strayed, the gripping story of a biologist's human-powered journey from the Pacific Northwest to the Arctic to rediscover her love of birds, nature, and adventure. During graduate school, as she conducted experiments on the peculiarly misshapen beaks of chickadees, ornithologist Caroline Van Hemert began to feel stifled in the isolated, sterile environment of the lab. Worried that she was losing her passion for the scientific research she once loved, she was compelled to experience wildness again, to be guided by the sounds of birds and to follow the trails of animals. In March of 2012, she and her husband set off on a 4,000-mile wilderness journey from the Pacific rainforest to the Alaskan Arctic, traveling by rowboat, ski, foot, raft, and canoe. Together, they survived harrowing dangers while also experiencing incredible moments of joy and grace -- migrating birds silhouetted against the moon, the steamy breath of caribou, and the bond that comes from sharing such experiences. A unique blend of science, adventure, and personal narrative, The Sun is a Compass explores the bounds of the physical body and the tenuousness of life in the company of the creatures who make their homes in the wildest places left in North America. Inspiring and beautifully written, this love letter to nature is a lyrical testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Winner of the 2019 Banff Mountain Book Competition: Adventure Travel |

apache logistics reviews: The Data-Driven Product Manager: A Blueprint 2025 Naga Srirama Narasimha Raviteja Malladi, Prof SumanYadav, PREFACE In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, the role of a product manager is more critical—and more complex—than ever before. “The Data-Driven Product Manager: A Blueprint” was born out of the recognition that intuition and experience, while valuable, can only take you so far. To truly excel in product management, one must harness the power of data to drive decision-making, fuel innovation, and ultimately deliver products that resonate with customers and succeed in the market. This book is designed as a comprehensive guide for product managers who are eager to integrate data-driven strategies into every facet of their work. Whether you are a seasoned professional looking to refine your approach or a newcomer seeking a structured path into the world of product management, this blueprint provides the tools, techniques, and insights necessary to transform raw data into actionable intelligence. Throughout the chapters, you will encounter practical frameworks and real-world examples that illustrate how data can be seamlessly integrated into product lifecycle management. From initial market research and customer segmentation to product launch and post-launch analysis, each section is crafted to offer a step-by-step roadmap for developing and scaling products in a competitive market. One of the key themes of this book is the transformation of data from a mere byproduct of operations into a strategic asset. In doing so, it addresses common obstacles such as data quality issues, integration challenges, and the cultural shift required within organizations to embrace analytics as a core component of the product management process. We offer actionable advice on building data infrastructure, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and cultivating a mindset that values experimentation and continuous improvement. The decision to write this book was fueled by the growing recognition that data-driven product management is not just a trend but a fundamental shift in how products are conceptualized, built, and refined. In an era where customer expectations are constantly evolving and market conditions can change overnight, the ability to adapt quickly using insights derived from data is no longer optional—it is essential for survival and success. I invite you to embark on this journey with an open mind and a readiness to challenge conventional practices. As you progress through the chapters, my hope is that you will find not only practical strategies and technical guidance but also inspiration to innovate boldly and lead confidently. Let this blueprint serve as both a reference and a catalyst for your growth as a data-driven product manager, empowering you to make informed decisions that drive real impact. Welcome to the future of product management. Welcome to a world where data lights the way forward. Authors |
apache logistics reviews: Bosnia Remade Gerard Toal, Carl T. Dahlman, 2011-02-16 Bosnia Remade is an authoritative account of ethnic cleansing and its partial undoing from the onset of the 1990s Bosnian wars up through the present. Gerard Toal and Carl Dahlman combine a bird's-eye view of the entire war from onset to aftermath with a micro-level account of three towns that underwent ethnic cleansing and--later--the return of refugees. There have been two major attempts to remake the ethnic geography of Bosnia since 1991. In the first instance, ascendant ethno-nationalist forces tried to eradicate the mixed ethnic geographies of Bosnia's towns, villages and communities. These forces devastated tens of thousands of homes and lives, but they failed to destroy Bosnia-Herzegovina as a polity. In the second attempt, which followed the war, the international community, in league with Bosnian officials, endeavored to reverse the demographic and other consequences of this ethnic cleansing. While progress has been uneven, this latter effort has transformed the ethnic demography of Bosnia and moved the nation beyond its recent segregationist past. By showing how ethnic cleansing was challenged, Bosnia Remade offers more than just a comprehensive narrative of Europe's worst political crisis of the past two decades. It also offers lessons for addressing an enduring global problem. |

apache logistics reviews: The Wrath of Cochise Terry Mort, 2021-11-15 In February 1861, the twelve-year-old son of Arizona rancher John Ward was kidnapped by Apaches. What followed would ignite a Southwestern frontier war between the Chiricahuas and the US Army that would last twenty-five years. In the days following the initial melee, innocent passersby would be taken as hostages on both sides, and almost all of them would be brutally slaughtered. Thousands of lives would be lost, the economies of Arizona and New Mexico would be devastated, and in the end, the Chiricahua way of life would essentially cease to exist. In a gripping narrative that often reads like an old-fashioned Western novel, Terry Mort explores the collision of these two radically different cultures in a masterful account of one of the bloodiest conflicts in our frontier history. |

apache logistics reviews: Oak Flat Lauren Redniss, 2020-11-17 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A powerful work of visual nonfiction about three generations of an Apache family struggling to protect sacred land from a multinational mining corporation, by MacArthur “Genius” and National Book Award finalist Lauren Redniss, the acclaimed author of Thunder & Lightning “Brilliant . . . virtuosic . . . a master storyteller of a new order.”—Eliza Griswold, The New York Times Book Review (Editors’ Choice) NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY KIRKUS REVIEWS Oak Flat is a serene high-elevation mesa that sits above the southeastern Arizona desert, fifteen miles to the west of the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. For the San Carlos tribe, Oak Flat is a holy place, an ancient burial ground and religious site where Apache girls celebrate the coming-of-age ritual known as the Sunrise Ceremony. In 1995, a massive untapped copper reserve was discovered nearby. A decade later, a law was passed transferring the area to a private company, whose planned copper mine will wipe Oak Flat off the map—sending its natural springs, petroglyph-covered rocks, and old-growth trees tumbling into a void. Redniss’s deep reporting and haunting artwork anchor this mesmerizing human narrative. Oak Flat tells the story of a race-against-time struggle for a swath of American land, which pits one of the poorest communities in the United States against the federal government and two of the world’s largest mining conglomerates. The book follows the fortunes of two families with profound connections to the contested site: the Nosies, an Apache family whose teenage daughter is an activist and leader in the Oak Flat fight, and the Gorhams, a mining family whose patriarch was a sheriff in the lawless early days of Arizona statehood. The still-unresolved Oak Flat conflict is ripped from today’s headlines, but its story resonates with foundational American themes: the saga of westward expansion, the resistance and resilience of Native peoples, and the efforts of profiteers to control the land and unearth treasure beneath it while the lives of individuals hang in the balance. |

apache logistics reviews: Ghostways: Two Journeys in Unquiet Places Robert Macfarlane, Stanley Donwood, Dan Richards, 2020-11-24 A hauntingly beautiful diptych of works inspired by Robert Macfarlane’s travels with celebrated collaborators to two eerie corners of England. In Holloway, a perfect miniature prose-poem (William Dalrymple), Macfarlane, artist Stanley Donwood, and writer Dan Richards travel to Dorset, near the south coast of England, to explore a famed hollowed way—a path used by walkers and riders for so many centuries that it has become worn far down into the soft golden bedrock of the region. In Ness, a triumphant libretto of mythic modernism for our poisoned age (Max Porter), Macfarlane and Donwood create a modern myth about Orford Ness, the ten-mile-long shingle spit that lies off the coast of East Anglia, which the British government used for decades to conduct secret weapons tests. |

apache logistics reviews: Engines of War Christian Wolmar, 2010-11-02 The birth of the railway in the early 1830's revolutionized the way the world waged war. From armored engines with swiveling guns, to the practice of track sabotage, to the construction of tracks that crossed frozen Siberian lakes, the iron road facilitated conflict on a scale that was previously unimaginable. It not only made armies more mobile, but widened fighting fronts and increased the power and scale of available weaponry; a deadly combination. In Engines of War, Christian Wolmar examines all the engagements in which the railway played a part: the Crimean War; the American Civil War; both world wars; the Korean War; and the Cold War, with its mysterious missile trains; and illustrates how the railway became a deadly weapon exploited by governments across the world. |
