acadecon 2023: Digital Technologies in the New Socio-Economic Reality Svetlana Igorevna Ashmarina, Valentina Vyacheslavovna Mantulenko, 2021-11-16 This book contains contributions from the IX International Scientific Conference “Digital Transformation of the Economy: Challenges, Trends and New Opportunities,” which was organized by Samara State University of Economics (SSEU, Samara, Russia), 2021, and devoted to the 90th anniversary of this higher education institution. Digital technologies became even more in demand during the pandemic, when companies, state authorities, and educational organizations were forced to switch to a remote format of work. Understanding the ongoing digital transformation implies the relevance of further in-depth research of this issue in the context of various socioeconomic systems, interdisciplinary interactions, and cooperation between scientists and practitioners. The book is an attempt to analyze these changes and consider them from the point of view of various scientific areas (economics, management, education, law, sociology, and others). This book addresses theoretical and practical aspects by studying the digital technology application in terms of the new socioeconomic reality development: big data in the digital economy, data collection and exchange, artificial intelligence, intelligent communications, digital platforms and strategies for the sustainable development of socioeconomic systems, and new requirements of professional and business education. It provides significant value for scientists, teachers, and students of higher educational institutions. |

Snyder. -Hellnotes What Snyder accomplishes in less than eighty pages is an emotional scoring that few can approach. ...This is (real life), given breath and teeth, stood out in front of the world in all its beautiful grime. Her work is emotional, powerful, and will shake a person's foundations ... I applaud this collection. -Scott A. acadecon 2023: Multi-Output Production and Duality: Theory and Applications Rolf Färe, Daniel Primont, 2012-12-06 Our original reason for writing this book was the desire to write down in one place a complete summary of the major results in du ality theory pioneered by Ronald W. Shephard in three of his books, Cost and Production Functions (1953), Theory of Cost and Produc tion Functions (1970), and Indirect Production Functions (1974). In this way, newcomers to the field would have easy access to these important ideas. In adg, ition, we report a few new results of our own. In particular, we show the duality relationship between the profit function and the eight equivalent representations of technol ogy that were elucidated by Shephard. However, in planning the book and discussing it with colleagues it became evident that such a book would be more useful if it also provided a number of applications of Shephard's duality theory to economic problems. Thus, we have also attempted to present exam ples of the use of duality theory in areas such as efficiency measure ment, index number theory, shadow pricing, cost-benefit analysis, and econometric estimation. Much of our thinking about duality theory and its uses has been influenced by our present and former collaborators. They include Charles Blackorby, Shawna Grosskopf, Knox Lovell, Robert Russell, and, not surprisingly, Ronald W. Shephard. We have also benefit ted over the years from many discussions with W. Erwin Diewert. |

acadecon 2023: Capability Management in Digital Enterprises Kurt Sandkuhl, Janis Stirna, 2018-07-28 Putting capability management into practice requires both a solid theoretical foundation and realistic approaches. This book introduces a development methodology that integrates business and information system development and run-time adjustment based on the concept of capability by presenting the main findings of the CaaS project – the Capability-Driven Development (CDD) methodology, the architecture and components of the CDD environment, examples of real-world applications of CDD, and aspects of CDD usage for creating business value and new opportunities. Capability thinking characterizes an organizational mindset, putting capabilities at the center of the business model and information systems development. It is expected to help organizations and in particular digital enterprises to increase flexibility and agility in adapting to changes in their economic and regulatory environments. Capability management denotes the principles of how capability thinking should be implemented in an organization and the organizational means. This book is intended for anyone who wants to explore the opportunities for developing and managing context-dependent business capabilities and the supporting business services. It does not require a detailed understanding of specific development methods and tools, although some background knowledge and experience in information system development is advisable. The individual chapters have been written by leading researchers in the field of information systems development, enterprise modeling and capability management, as well as practitioners and industrial experts from these fields. |

acadecon 2023: Institutional Trap Quy-Toan Do, 2016 The author studies the persistence of inequality and inefficient governance in a physical capital accumulation model with perfect information, missing credit markets, and endogenous barriers to entry. When access to investment opportunities is regulated, rent-seeking entrepreneurs form coalitions of potentially varying size to bribe a regulator to restrict entry. Small coalitions run short of resources, while large coalitions suffer more severe free-rider problems. The distribution of wealth thus determines the equilibrium coalition structure of the economy and consequently the level of regulatory capture. A dynamic analysis supports the persistence of inefficiencies in the long run. Initial conditions determine whether the economy converges to a steady state characterized by efficient governance and low levels of inequality, or a path toward an institutional trap where regulatory capture and wealth inequality reinforce each other. This paper - a product of the Poverty Team, Development Research Group - is part of a larger effort in the group to understand the determinants of institutions. |

Generalizations of basic economic concepts, notions and methods for the economic processes with memory are suggested. New micro and macroeconomic models with continuous time are proposed to describe the fractional economic dynamics with long memory as well. |
acadecon 2023: Ageing Asia and the Pacific in Changing Times Subas Dhakal, Alan Nankervis, John Burgess, 2022-01-31 This book demonstrates that there are wide-ranging potential challenges in addressing issues associated with ageing populations in both developed and developing countries of the region. This book brings together local, national and regional perspectives on the ageing population and sustainable development nexus in selected countries in the Asia Pacific region. The countries selected in this book include a mix of developed and developing economies that all reflect strong trade, investment and migration linkages. While the Asia Pacific region is forecast to enjoy high growth in the coming decade, a recurring common policy challenge is addressing the ‘demographic time bomb’ posed by ageing populations and workforces (Montague et al., 2017). Consequently, this book focuses on strategic policies and practices of multiple stakeholders, primarily: governments, industry and education systems, together with, the range of aged care services providers – in more effectively addressing these key socio-economic challenges associated with the ageing population for sustainable development. |
