The legal classifications of various indigenous communities and the interpretations of ‘indigeneity’ in the two countries have presented problems in the context of ICH protection. Bradley, 2015-07-31 Forging Islamic Power and Place charts the nineteenth-century rise of a vast network of Islamic scholars stretching across Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean to Arabia. Following the political and military collapse of the tiny Sultanate of Patani in what is now southern Thailand and northern Malaysia, a displaced community of scholars led by Shaykh Dā’ūd bin ‘Abd Allāh al-Faṭānī regrouped in Mecca. In the years that followed, al-Faṭānī composed more than forty works that came to form the basis for a new, text-based type of Islamic practice. Via a network of scholars, students, and scribes, al-Faṭānī’s writings made their way back to Southeast Asia, becoming the core texts of emerging pondok (Islamic schools) throughout the region. Islamic scholars thus came to be the primary power brokers in the construction of a new moral community, setting forth an intellectual wave that spurred cultural identity, literacy, and a religious practice that grew ever more central to daily life. In Forging Islamic Power and Place, Francis R. Bradley analyzes the important role of this vibrant Patani knowledge network in the formation of Islamic institutions of learning in Southeast Asia. He makes use of an impressive range of sources, including official colonial documents, traveler accounts, missionary writings, and above all a trove of handwritten manuscripts in Malay and Arabic, what remains of one of the most fertile zones of knowledge production anywhere in the Islamic world at the time. Writing against prevailing notions of Southeast Asia as the passive recipient of the Islamic traditions of the Middle East, Bradley shows how a politically marginalized community engineered its own cultural renaissance via the moral virility of the Islamic scholarly tradition and the power of the written word. He highlights how, in an age of rising colonial power, these knowledge producers moved largely unnoticed and unhindered between Southeast Asia and the Middle East carrying out sweeping cultural and religious change. Rusdiana, M.M., 2021-12-21 Kebijakan lahir seiring dengan bertambah banyaknya populasi manusia dan kompleksitas kebutuhan, kepentingan dan tuntutan kehidupan. Perlakuan terhadap anggota masyarakat tidak lagi bisa terjadi secara orang perorang. Untuk tetap dapat menjaga keutuhan dan kelangsungan hidup, manusia membuat peraturan-peraturan yang ditetapkan penguasa maupun atas kesepakatan diantara mereka untuk dipatuhi, dilaksanakan dan diawasi bersama. Perjalanan kehidupan manusia yang dimulai dari adanya Adam Hawa sampai kini berjumlah lebih dari 2 milyar merupakan sejarah panjang yang telah melahirkan berbagai ”hasil budaya”yang salah satunya adalah adanya prinsip-prinsip yang dipahami sebagai suatu disiplin untuk mengadministrasikan keberadaan organisasi dan permasalahan-permasalahannya dengan segala kearifan dan kebijaksanaan (policies). Pada mulanya, Kebijakan lahir karena ingin memberi aktiftas-aktifitas yang bermakna bagi masyarakat untuk tetap dapat mewariskan nilai-nilai budaya pada generasi penerusnya. Namun seiring dengan semakin bervariasinya kebutuhan dan tuntutan yang melahirkan berbagai permalahan dan dengan berkembangnya kajian-kajian keilmuan administrasi dan kebijakan. Kebijakan menjadi suatu keputusan-keputusan sebagai ketetapan yang mengikat warganegara dan ditunjukan untuk memecahkan masalah-masalah pelik, ‟sering terjadi‟dan bersifat umum. Pendidikan merupakan proses sosial untuk mewariskan nilai-nilai kehidupan generasi pendahulunya ke generasi penerusnya agar tetap terpelihara, terjaga dan terkembangkan. Untuk itu, keberadaan pendidikan tidak dapat dipisahkan dengan peran yang diemban pemerintah sebagai penguasa. Hal ini disebabkan karena kompleksitas penyelenggaraan, substansi dan keberlanjutan (sustainability) pendidikan yang diselenggarakan masyarakat sangat beragam dan membutuhkan campur tangan penguasa/pemerintah untuk memelihara dan mengembangkannya secara terintgrasi dan berkualitas. Di samping itu, masyarakat memiliki keterbatasan sedangkan pemerintah memiliki kekuatan (power) dan kewenangan (authority) yang dapat menjamin keberadaan dan keberlangsungan pendidikan. Tidak menutup kemungkinan dalam proses penyelenggaraan pendidikan diwarnai dengan pertentangan dan konflik serta dihadapkan dengan berbagai permasalahan-permasalahan yang sulit ditangani masyarakat dan intervensi pemerintah berupa kebijakan diharapkan menjadi solusi terbaik. |

King, Zawawi Ibrahim, Noor Hasharina Hassan, 2016-08-12 This edited book is the first major review of what has been achieved in Borneo Studies to date. Chapters in this book situate research on Borneo within the general disciplinary fields of the social sciences, with the weight of attention devoted to anthropological research and related fields such as development studies, gender studies, environmental studies, social policy studies and cultural studies. Some of the chapters in this book are extended versions of presentations at the Borneo Research Council’s international conference hosted by Universiti Brunei Darussalam in June 2012 and a Borneo Studies workshop organised in Brunei in 2012. The volume examines some of the major debates and controversies in Borneo Studies, including those which have served to connect post-war research on Borneo to wider scholarship. It also assesses some of the more recent contributions and interests of locally based researchers in universities and other institutions in Borneo itself. The major strength of the book is the inclusion of a substantial amount of research undertaken by scholars working and teaching within the Southeast Asian region. In particular there is an examination of research materials published in the vernacular, notably the outpouring of work published in Indonesian by the Institut Dayakologi in Pontianak. In doing so, the book also addresses the urgent matters which have not received the attention they deserve, specifically subjects, themes and issues that have already been covered but require further contemplation, elaboration and research, and the scope for disciplinary and multidisciplinary collaboration in Borneo Studies. The book is a valuable resource and reference work for students and researchers interested in social science scholarship on Borneo, and for those with wider interests in Indonesia and Malaysia, and in the Southeast Asian region. |

Dari perilaku dan cara menjelaskannya, tercermin hasil didikan yang baik dan berhasil. Hal ini menjadi menarik untuk diteliti, karena selama ini anak-anak Badui tidak diperbolehkan untuk mengenyam pendidikan nasional. Maka dengan pendekatan kualitatif, metode etnografi realis penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa metode pendidikan tradisi Badui yang selama beratus-ratus tahun berhasil menjaga kesantunan dan kesederhanaan hidup warga Badui. |
